  1. I think the easiest way to research gen 3 flags and how they work is to use a script editor and search how the game manages the flags, since for example in emerald to re-enable the full groundon/kyogre event you'll find information at the weather station script you'll find how the game handles them for example.

I did research the flags too some time ago, in fact I should have a script (to be used as a wondercard) that re-enables all emerald legendary battles, I even made it so it will only work if you have beaten the pokemon league. The problem will be finding it, since I've moved recently and all my data stuff is mixed between computers.

  2. Data mining suggest the gym rework is comming soon, and more hidden changes:

    • Gym raids added to the APK
    • Raid encounters added
    • Pokémon feeding added
    • Max same Pokémon per Gym added
    • Anti-cheat mechanism added
    • New sponsor (NIA_OPS)
    • More redeemable codes support
    • New Unown sprite sheet added
    • better memory management, re-work of the news feature, a number of refactored features.

  3. Try this:
    - Delete the save with JKSV (it has an option for that)
    - Play the game so it creates a new save.
    - Make a copy of your backup save folder, then leave only sav.dat in this new copied folder
    - Restore this savegame that only has sav.dat inside

  4. In spanish you would use the male pronouns when referring to animals which gender you don't know (which may sound as assuming it's a male, but it isn't), unless you already know it's gender beforehand, but even when people know the animal is a female you may still refer to it as a male if you are using the animal's name (i.e. "a dog"->"un perro" regardless of it being male or female, but you could also say "una perra" if you know it's female).

I for example would say "un jynx" or "un chansey" even though I know they are female only species. I rarely refer to any pokémon as a female if talking about species (maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I do the same when referring to animals).

If translators used female pronouns it's either because they translated a script that already had a gender or because the original script wanted to emphasize a gender over the other, or maybe it's just some kind of politics in there, not wanting to refer to all legendaries as male and giving the more "cute" ones some female traits, and if you think it deep enough I don't know which is worse.

Also, colective nouns are also male or female, even though they would include individuals from different genders.

In the end I think that scripters at the MD games only wanted to humanize pokémon so they wen with genders instead of "it" (well, I haven't played any MD game).

although Mega Mewtwo Y is pretty useless and you are better off using regular one (they allocated the stats wrong and that is one thing they MUST fix).

Sorry for the little offtopic, but I'm not into competitive play and I'm quite curious about this and how "should" MMY stats be. Was that on purpose to underpower it? I don't see a reason since it's already normally banned from competitions...

  5. Better on what?
    - Stats: mewtwo
    - Baddass: Mewtwo
    - Versatility: Mew (due to being able to learn almost any move)
    - Cuteness: Mew
    - MO slave: Mew

Also, Mewtwo has 2 mega evolutions, while mew has a signature z-move

Personally, mew is my favorite one due to it's mysterious nature in the original games and being the first event legendary (which I only managed to personally get my hands on a gen 1 legit one after 18 years, adding some more personal meaning). Also, it's the last one I got on my original gen 1 pokédex (a gamesharked clone, but I didn't know the difference back then. It's a shame that with so many legendaries that came after it hasn't been able to stay top tier, even some non-mega non-legendary are on par with Mew stats wise.

  6. I've just seen we are missing Lycanroc on 3 languages for gen7. I thought we could get all wifi/zone events from nintendo servers like in gen 6, was I wrong?

I thought theSLAYER was getting all the events by himslef this way (including wcfull), but if that's not the case I'll try hard to get all the SPA language events. I do have lycanroc's unused wc on my save, but if needed I can go to a nintendo zone (or spoof if that still works) and get the wc7 dumped.

EDIT: I guess somehow the missing WC list was misleading as it listed SPA as missing, but the WC is already in the gallery: https://projectpokemon.org/forums/files/file/1897-no-guard-lycanroc-eu/

  7. I tried several times to port the code reversed by Falo to c#, but it's too complicated to my current understanding of variables and how each language handles all the shifts and other operations, so I've never got c# code to work properly. I could make a simple command line app in C, but my goal was to get some proper code in c# to eventually add it on pkhex.

You can still use this (not sure if you already knew it): https://github.com/suloku/gen6_safari_mirage_tool/releases

You can set any 10 islands on your save as if you had had them passed, but those islands won't have the hidden item in them, but you can get any pokémon and those hidden items aren't unique and can be got trough other in-game means.
You can still manually edit your own island (which has hidden item and you can pass it to other players). There's a list with values for each island, including cresscent isle, but 10 islands are missing and you need to modify your TID (so this is only really useful if you want to pass a certain island to someone else, otherwise editing passed islands is a way better solution).

  8. https://www.3dbrew.org/wiki/Homebrew_Exploits

Homebrew (no kernel access = no CFW/CIA/Full access but save managing possible) on 11.4 is only possible with Swapdoodle (version 1.1.1 or lower).

Other (homebrew only) exploits on 11.4 can be done with the physical cart games FreakyWorms Deluxe and Cubic Ninja (really hard to get nowadays) and Smash Bros (New 3DS only and highly complicated).

Apparently on New 3DS secondary exploits like OOT3D and Pokemon Super Mystery dungeon still work, but old 3DS isn't compatible (yet?). Since OOT3D is a player's select and cheap, if you are really against any kind of CFW or nand emulation, have a new 3DS and want to keep homebrew access, installing oot3dhax prior to updating is a viable option and OOT3D has been consistent at allowing homebrew access until 11.4 on which it isn't compatible on old 3ds models.

If anyone is still on 11.3 or lower, my personal recomendation is to stick on 11.3 and either install a9lh with custom firmware (preferred if you know what you are doing) or use homebrew to run an updated emunand from SD card.

I've tried using Suloku's Mystery Gift Tool multiple times to inject the test E-reader card and it's not working. Anybody have an idea why it might not work?

Edit: it just constantly tells me the save has been corrupted and reverts to the original save every single time. I'll be off to work. So if anybody has any ideas, I can try later. Hopefully it's a short day.

What's that test e-reader card? I'm not sure what you are trying exactly, but if there's some error I want it fixed.

  10. 14 hours ago, BlackShark said:

The RSE dolls don't have a script. The e-Card just modifiies the save and injects them into the inventory directly.

Actually if I recall correctly the regi dolls e-card is script based, but instead of being one that gets stored and assigned to a NPC like the eon ticket script, it runs inmediatly in the game after connecting with e-reader and grants you the selected doll (for those that do not know, you transfer one doll at a time).

It's essentially what you said, but I though I could get more technical.

Edit: also, it's on my (growing) to do list to make the regi saves compatible with other language roms (although using your save on the jap rom would yield the same result).

  11. I forgot to mention I do have a complete platinum spanish savefile, I could go and catch the Arceus later.

In any case the same save should be compatible with all version for the pokémon retrieval, so the same save could technically be used. Maybe OT encoding, but I think they already made character encoding global gen 4 onwards.

@HaxAras: Im sure they dont need the save files anymore, because they already have them. They ''just'' want information if the Mystic Ticket could be received with other language versions (for example a spanish GBA game) besides the english one.

That's exactly it. Maveon said he knew people who imported other language roms (mainly spanish, since we are talking about Mexico) and he said he didn't remember anyone complaining about not being able to download the ticket.

    The questions are:

    - Was the mystyc ticket distro rom compatible with all languages (except jap)?

    - Was it english only? This was the latest distribution, maybe they already did it multi-language? Or since that wasn't nintendo of europe they didn't do it multi language?

EDIT: By the way, Dark_Lucario's wondercard is 1:1 with the one Maveon contributed, which in turn was 1:1 with the one from PNYC. About downloading in other regions, maybe we'd have better luck asking in mexican forums (seems logical, but I've just though about this now...)

However, I'm still waiting for a new release of NTR to support 11.4, as well as for romhacks/etc.

I read that NTR was already updated long ago for 11.4, only 3-4 days after release. Also one of the main features in the recent luma 7.x update is focused in rom patching, allowing romhack creators to distribute the patches without modifying the original games at all (something like HANS, but with IPS patches and built in the CFW), but you can use it on 11.3, you don't need 11.4 for luma 7.x

  14. Thanks! It's always helpfull to check for the data from different distributions and see if nintendo used the same rom.

Also, about the imported carts I was asking because some months ago Maveon posted this:

Unfortunately the forums were hacked shortly after that and were down for 2-3 weeks (if I recall correctly) and after the forums were back Maveon didn't come back.

ps: not related to gen 3, but do you happen to have any gen 1/2 Mew/Celebi from Mexican distributions?

  15. @Dark_Lucario thank you for the images. Someone told us that in mexico some people actually imported the spanish version rather than buying the english one, do you happen to know if people with those imported spanish (or other non-english games) were able to receive the Mystyc ticket?

It would be great to have confirmation that those mystyc legendaries are legal in other languages.

Also, if you have the means to dump your savegame, I'd like to check your mystyc ticket data if possible. For what we know it should be the same we already have, but checking is always good.

  16. I found this thread a year ago, I'll try to sum it up the story since it's in spanish: http://www.pokexperto.net/foros/index.php?topic=27460.0

OP was asking about the Pokémon 2000 championship that was held in Madrid (the winners would later go to European and World champsionships, though that was only announced after the tournament ended), specifically he asked if a Mew distribution was really held there, as all he knew were rumors.

Some users supported the rumors, somone even posted that back in the day he was given a Mew he was asured it was legit (not gamesharked/glitched) and the OT was "DJ" (I haven't been able to contact this user, since he hasn't been active since 2012).

On 2015 user Pirk appeared, and he said that he attended the tournament, that he had been given such a Mew (along some merchandise) and that the OT was "D-J" in fact. He dusted out his old GB and though his cousing had started a new game in his Blue cart (were he received the Mew), he had his tournament team and a clone of the Mew in his yellow cart:
     8018543c8fa93b30127b7349bf6ce148.jpg

On July 2016 I contacted Pirk to ask about the Mew and I also wanted to ask Pirk to ensure it was fully EV trained so IVs could be calculated (we later discovered that it in fact was fully EV trained).

Finally on february 2017 Pirk and I were able to meet and I dumped both his Blue and Yellow savegames. Even though the Blue save was deleted, when starting a new game only Party data and box 1 data is deleted, so I hoped the Mew might still be in the other boxes. The very same Mew was found in one (same attacks, stats, etc, a 1:1 clone, or maybe the original).

Pirk told me that in order to receive the Mew you had to show the staff that you had 150 pokémon, then they'd give it to you. It came at level 5 according to Pirk and the distribution was made via direct trade.

Up until this point everything seems like good news, but there are some oddities about this distribution:

    - The DVs are not the fixed ones we know most (if not all) gen 1 Mews had. (there's a chance the NINTEN Mew had different DVs).
    - The data in the Mew matches more that of a wild pokémon than that of a gen 1 mew (compared with the ones we have, remember we have both mew machine AND the Toys R Us direct trade mew samples)
    - I haven't been able to find any spanish magazine that talked about the distribution, except for a very little mention many months later on the official Nintendo magazine that, in response to a letter, said that Mew was in fact distributed at the tournament in Madrid. The magazines (including official nintendo magazine) only covered the tournament, no trace from Mew distribution.
NOTE: I've talked with other people and others have confirmed that Mew was in fact distributed there.

So, what supports this Mew being the one distributed at the tournament?
    - That more than one person has confirmed the distribution actually took place (and it was stated in official nintendo magazine, albeit it was a letter response).
    - Pirk's word. He told me he cloned this mew many times, but that he never received any Mew from anyone and the only one he ever had was the one he received from nintendo, so there's no chance that the Mew in his yellow cartridge was a fake one and that the official one was lost when his cousing reset his blue savegame.
    - That Pirk actually agreed to meet in person with me to dump his save. Would someone go as far as meeting a random internet guy just for a prank? I personally don't think so. (This is just circumstantial and my personal impression).
    - In summer, I asked in a spanish forum if someone had been in Madrid in the distribution (that's how I found more people claiming they were at the event and Mew was distributed, but unfortunately none of them had their savegames). An user said he wasn't there, but that he dumped his savegame (he had the hardware to do so) and he had a mew someone cloned to him back in the day. He sent me the save and to my surprise this mew turned out to be exactly the same as Pirk's (except one move). This user lived more than 500km away from Madrid, were it was distributed and he received a Mew with the very same OT, ID and DVs. Prik did clone his Mew, and it really could be his very Mew that reached this other user 500km away, but the chances for that to happen seem extremely low to me. On the other hand, if there were multiple clones of this Mew to start with, the probability of it spreading trough the country increase exponentially. This to me is probably the strongest supporting point, simply because of probability, but of course there's always the chance that this was Pirk's mew traveling trough a chain of trades. Also, as I said, they only differ in 1 move (I'd personally expect more than 1 move being different), which is kind of a weak point.

My personal theory: this mew was really distributed there, but someone of Nintendo of Spain said something like: "I have a gameshark, why don't we distribute Mew? This will attract more people to the torunament" and they gave that person the green light. He started a new game and used a gameshark to catch a mew at level 5 or something like that (giving the mew random DVs), then he proceeded to clone that mew multiple times for the distribution (with whatever method). This may sound ridicule, but since I know how Spain and Spanish people think, I strongly believe this could have been the case. Simply put, they didn't know Mew distributions had some "rules" and didn't care to ask.

I leave it up to you to decide wether this Mew is legit or not. Someone even suggested that even if this is in fact the one distributed at the tournament, it would still not be legal if Nintendo of Spain made it in their own and didn't stick to "standard distribution rules" like fixed DVs.

  17. Finally got time for this. Dr.Matt was really kind and since he was given two back at the event, he gifted me with this awesome promotional poster for Pokémon Stadium 2. That day was raining and both his posters (and sadly, the certificate too) got damaged. I've made my best to assemble this as original size is A0 and my scanner's size is a little over A4.

If anyone with enough photoshop skills wants to restore the image, I can send him the 300 mB psd file with the original scans. I tried to find a high quality scan for this poster with no luck (I've seen pictures of the same poster in different languages though).

ps: when he has the time, Dr.Matt said he'll be doing a high quality scan of his certificate (though unfortunately it's damaged, maybe someone with the skills can restore it too).

  18. As clarification for any future readers: with my program you can inject any single pokémon that was available in the dream world and the result in the save data will be the same.

This means the method to get the pokémon is not legit, but the pokémon themselves will be legal, in fact there will be no difference between the legal pokemon you get using my program and the legit ones gyou could get from Dream World because almost all the data of the actual pokémon is generated in the game when capturing it.

You can also freely edit the entree forest and get any pokémon, including those never available in Dream World, but that's just an extra feature.

Also, you need to take into account that some special Dream World pokémon were only distributed to certain regions (you can see the regions when atempting to inject such a pokémon). Everything you'll need is right on the screen, as my main goal was to do what you are asking for: an alternative to get the very same dream world offered.

Ps: alternatively, you can also swap the whole forest in your save (or just some areas) with that of someone who did get them from the Dream World legitimately and hasn't caught them, but there's really not that much difference.

  19. Don't worry about that, if it were only a matter of comparing savegames before and after mystery gift I could do it myself as I own the hardware. As I said the disassembly is available and that means all the information regarding the mystery gift is already there, it's just that I don't understand enough the language to properly replicate a mystery gift transfer.

Checking what Stadium 2 does to the savefile can be done on a computer via emulation, so there's no need for that either.

Pokémon Pikachu 2 doesn't really offer anything interesting and as I said everything we need to know about how it is able to send gifts without limit is in the disassemble, please don't open such a valuable item for this, it is not needed.

Basically I'm searching for someone who knows asm to explain how the mystery gift works and what data is sent/stored in the savegame and the exact probabilities of each item being sent, with that I could code the simulator. I could find the offsets for decoration, trainer house and mystery gift man item by myself, but my point is doing the very same the game does, since if it is not the very same thing as what happens when done on real hardware for me it's no different from cheating or plain save editing.

  20. There has been something bothering me for a long time: there's no GB emulator with infrared link support. It is understandable, as not many titles use that function and even then it's a really minor feature and doesn't really hinder gameplay.

For Gen 2 pokémon games the feature was really minor, but it still provides things that can currently only be obtained either via real hardware or emulating pokemon stadium 2 and the transfer pack. I would normally prefer IR emulation over savegame editing, but for the Gen 2 pokémon games we have something not available for other IR games: full disassemblies:
    https://github.com/PikalaxALT/pokegold
    https://github.com/pret/pokecrystal

Since we have the disassemblies, we can know exactly how the IR connection works, which data is sent, which data is expected to be received and how the connection alters the savegame. I don't exactly know asm language, but someone who does could write a program that given two savegames from GSC as input simulates the IR connection between them. By simulating I mean mantaining the 5 trainers per day limit, same random chances to get each item/decoration, etc.

I think it would be great to have such a program. At the very least if someone knows asm I would like him to tell me exactly what is changed in the savegame after the transfer, since while my ideal would be a simulator program, adding editing capabilities to pkhex would also be nice (decoration and the trainer house at viridian city).

This is what I understand from the gift connection:
    - Randomly, item or decoration is selected with 50% chance.
    - Randomly, a slot is selected. It seems some slots are rarer than others (can't really understand the code).
    - Some trainer and party data is sent for the trainer house (I would need to know the data exactly)
    - OT ID is stored to prevent another transfer with the same trainer.
    - Trainer and party data is stored at trainer house.
    - Gift is stored to be received at pokemon center.

This is my rough understanding of the disassembly, but I'm missing things for sure, so propper understanding of the process data-wise would be great if someone is able to provide it.

ps: pokémon pikachu color apparently can always send gift, I suspect this is due to it sending ID 00000, but something else might be in place in the connection, like a direct skip of the 5 trainer a day limit.

  21. I guess it could be done. Do you mean npc visitors or online visitors?

In both cases the best/easiest would be to dump visitors (before speaking with them) and create some sort of database and randomly insert the visitors onto the save.

The npc would be the easiest, but I think each language version has it's own npc names and text, so ideally a database dor each different language should be made or else you can end up with english stores in your italian game.

It wouldn't be difficult to if I write a simple npc extractor, using desmune will allow to get lots of npc in little time by changing the console's clock.
