Hey, I was genuinely saddened/shocked by her death. I didn't expect it at all. <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/sad.png" alt=":(" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/sad@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

In fact it's the only show I can think of that actually urged me to cry on numerous occasions... I rarely cry so.

They did, but some teachers are more lenient... I remember being able to access a video game web site to look at my records and status and stuff. Recently though, there was a time I couldn't access my homework because they banned G-mail access. ><img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/unsure.png" alt=":/" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/unsure@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Totally annoyed me. Also some laws, such as anti-bullying laws, particularly through the internet, are becoming stricter. The "goodness" of such things are of course debatable.

I'm pretty sure it's the same over here. Sex sells. I remember hearing a few songs which are actually more or less meaningful, but the imagery is sexual, which is strange, especially if it's a female vocalist. And it's not just (K) Pop, it's pretty much any genre.

I'll shut up about that. Sorry. X_X

Is it me, or did you take that the wrong way? What I meant was I don't like going on particular sites, such as Project Pokemon, because it may become a topic for public humiliation. People don't really like nerds. Not that anybody knows much about me anyway other than the fact I appear as an ant-social angry person.

I didn't take your statement too seriously, I saw it as a joke. So no problem.

Fun fact: Mami's theme song has lyrics which are a combination of Latin, European (forgot which) and Japanese vocals, meaning they make absolutely no sense except to the composer. <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/laugh.png" alt="xD" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/laugh@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I said Mami was my favourite character. She's second. My favourite character would actually be the cold and emotionless Homura (the one with the black hair). She appears as the antagonist but actually has the best intentions out of all of them. Also, *spoilers* having the ability to stop time and load up a whole bunch of RPGS, LMGS, Shotguns, pistols, and grenades and bombs is awesome. Plus she was pretty interesting to me.

I suppose.

I apologize; I thought you were unfamiliar with it. I was going to speak about some of the things it made me think about but I guess I won't.

Funnily enough she was my favourite character. My sister was showing me this really generic and girly anime and then that happened, almost out of nowhere. and then it just went nutz. One of the few death scenes that evoked Catharsis for me. But the ending is generally happy.

It's not entirely society's fault or the children's fault. Well, society is certainly part of it, but parent's need to get a grip I guess. I know I'm not THAT OLD, but I still think some ways.

I understand. I just don't know if I'm actually meant to be a creative writer. I can write great descriptions, but I care much more about the story than how it is written or anything else... Which is not the case in my class (killer story was amongst the best). My sister told me that I was more of a director than a writer... funnily enough. My English teacher also once told me I was brilliant, even though I don't have the highest marks in my English class. Which gets me thinking on what I'm meant to do. Not necessarily in a good way though.

I see you're familiar with the show then. My sister showed it to me,. It was good, minus the ending and some farfetch'dness, but alas.

I assumed you're busy. No prob.

I think children will always do things like that... Of course, it may have be different in the past, but when I grew up I saw a lot of that too. I didn't subject to it, meaning I didn't swear as much and deep down I questioned what the people around me were doing.

My literary endeavors? No motivation really. I learned that I worked so hard to get into writer's craft, which meant upgrading to university level English (normally I was college), and I don't even like it. There's pretty much no freedom in it. So, because of that, I don't know what I'm doing and I've been pretty negative.

I find it funny, now that I think about it. This monster represents gluttony or greed. AND THE GIRL DIED BECAUSE OF RECKLESS EMOTIONS. A story to me is good when it is connectable, creative and provocative in some way. If I care about the characters, events, and think about it's significance, it is a good story.

Which makes me come to Madoka Magica an anime. I was simply surprised by it and sort of made me reflect about a lot of things. Not a lot of works make me do that, so... I was curious.

You know that "controversial" poem I mentioned? Turns out my teacher really liked it. She said it was "very powerful, as well as very opinionated...Thanks for sharing." So it's all good.

I think I lost marks because it wasn't totally relevant to the style, or the ideas, but it worked out well.

My sister also showed me an example of a show where there's plenty of death (sadly), but it is done nigh perfectly. Hooray. <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/biggrin.png" alt=":D" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/biggrin@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

That's true. I think it's because I do play some shooters and TF2 is appealing to me because it's cartoony but also very team-oriented, hence the name. It's one of those games which, if you do not work with your team, you will ALWAYS LOSE. As for the past, yes, there is a nostalgic factor to it, even though we never lived in it. I kind of like the style of older music, although I would never listen to it.

I may not fill you in on the details, at least now, but the poem has to be Catullus style, and we have to choose love or hate, and I chose hate. Let's say I wrote about something that I hate which was not only very mean but also targeted towards something unusual. But my teacher's haven't said anything yet, so I don't know what they're thinking. Let's just say I can't bring myself to agree with some things.

That was funny. Well, to me anyway.

Why do I like a game so much even though I never played it? Is there something wrong with me?

How often have you ever completed an assignment and it was met with a surprising reaction? I remember working on a pathetic fallacy assignment and it scared my teacher because the emotion I focused on was fear. She thought I was depressed. Which, perhaps I was in some way.

Yes, I'm familiar with the universe, and I guess I like it. I'm not as interested as I was before, because there are other games I like more.

I kind of prefer the older ones in a way, because they're more puzzle and survival oriented, whereas the new ones are just action based. I mean, if I want to play an action game, not a survival game, I'd play something else.

I really like Resident Evil 4 though. I can't bring myself to beat the remake of the first one though. I'm stuck. X_X

it's a thing of the past. I had reasons for killing him, but otherwise I feel like it would be stronger not to. But his death or the death of his mind is essentially the end of the story. Or what it was.

This topic is getting dry, sorry. I just feel like I needed to vent that because, at least to me, the people who wrote those stories threw in death. It should matter, it shouldn't be there just to make it more interesting or be an attempt to add "depth". The war story as well was one where it was the end of the story, and it is a short one, so yeah.

Change of topic I guess. What do you think about the new Pokemon games? I haven't played either yet and I don't know if I plan to.

Yeah, everyone living would be nice. I just think it would be a nice challenge for writers to find other ways to have the characters/reader evoke pity instead of just leaping to the death choice.

I wrote a trailer thing for media class, and it had to have a story so I came up with it like in 30 mins. It was the story of someone super special awesome that was in politics, but he was threatened, his family was killed... let's just say enough bad things happened to him that he ended up losing his mind, and the "movie" was to have therapists find out why he's gone insane and to sort of help him. Over the course of... as long as it takes, they find out, and they almost get somewhere to help him, but then I later added that he died. Then I realized... Why does he have to die? If he just comes close to being cured, but then went back to losing it, that can be as powerful as him dying. Because in a sense if you cannot think at all and you're just nutz that's almost the equivalent of death.

I certainly gave you that impression. It should, but it needs to be there to add something, not just to dramatize the scenario. If it actually amounts to something and leaves an impact on the character/reader, it's purposeful. In some of these short story assignments... It wasn't like that. And if it's war, that's very acceptable. Hell, I killed off the main character in one of my concepts. Why? because it's war, he tries to help and fight, and even though he accomplishes nothing in the end, the reader (hopefully) would care because he really did try and he was, simply, noble.

Death bothers me when it is just in a story, seems confusing and out of place, and leaves no emotional impact on the character or reader. If the reader just says "okay, someone died", then that's a problem. Adding death or violence in a story doesn't make it deep or interesting, it just makes it darker. It has to be serious, thought out...

I see. Deepness of emotion is measured in death. That's what constitutes depth, or adds to it. So, let's play around with it life like it is a marionette, because there's no better way to get our message across. Besides, it doesn't matter what's it about, killing someone or getting them killed shows the epitome of all emotions.

"It should always be used sparingly..." That's my point sir. But it isn't. Even when it should be "emotional" it isn't powerful enough or, when their is emotional strife, it's either not conveyed appropriately or it's put together in a poor way to make the story more exhilarating. Also, when you should care, even in a plot-line perspective it's unnecessary. That's the word: Unnecessary. In stories, there are other methods of loss, such as the inability to walk again, to think again (Some even lose the ability to make mental pictures). People just need to ask themselves if it's worth it.

It's a short story. Although for me a short story is like a longer short story... That is supposed to tie into the short story I'm currently working on, the one of DARKNESS (the one I showed you a while back),

People don't always have to die for something to be lost, or a lesson to be learned. It depends on the theme, yes; but when people throw in death in every story it gives it less weight and just makes it seem like it's nothing to take seriously. I understand that in real life, things happen, and not always with a good reason. There are psychopaths out there that do kill people because they say, "hey, I can do that". But for a story that, especially for the assignment criteria, needs to have something lost and yet gained, it completely failed. A story does need conflict, I am undeniably aware of this, but if the author just says "let's kill someone! That'll get attention!" it bothers me.

Have you ever heard of the concept of the poles changing? So that north is warmer and south is colder? It's apparently a systematic routine of the planet. I just look it as change, unless it kills us. I mean, look at the dinosaurs. And there will be a day where humanity will die out. That is of course, we all stop hating on each other and start developing space ships. One can dream.

I find it interesting though how I tend to worry a lot about others. When my sister was sick with a virus (which really was just a cold), I began to fret and I lost focus on my work. Then I realized she was fine. This hurricane, while it doesn't directly affect where I'm from, I still worry. When I was younger I was the polar opposite. I wonder how I changed like that...

I hope school is going well for you. It's not too smooth for me, even though I won some awards and junk. All I can suggest is work hard and don't get too worked up about assignments, unlike me where if I get an essay I panic.

THIRD POST. Sorry.

Dey indeed rack disciprine. I know how my math teacher, who seems younger, admitted that he was baffled by how parents sheltering their kids from everything. The world hurts, and the only way to relieve pain is to feel it. Yeah bad word use there, but you know what I mean.

Also, despite my somewhat darker nature with stories, it seems as if a lot of the stories end in someone dying. there was one mentioned in class where a widow killed a psychiatrist or something, and I was like: Why does a story always need to end in someone dying? Why are people so vicarious? I know my story had someone die, but then again, it was a war, or a skirmish, so there is more of a reason, but it seems to be something just tossed into the mix, and it's beginning to anger me. Ironically.

If you ever got time, would you like to hear poem/story ideas I had? I know you're busy with teaching, but how's your story idea coming along?

To give you more details on the stories, the war story was about a soldier trying to get a girl to safety, but he believes he fails in the end (because I'm a jerk). The enemies, despite being merciless, actually had good reason to be. I wanted to touch on how a ideal society does wrong, and when people are pushed enough they can become very violent (imperfection). Sounds kind of cliche right? Well, like everything, it has been done before, but the goal is not to make a blatant good or bad side: both sides are good, and have good and bad ways of thinking. It is, in a sense, political. The version submitted was poor, but I plan to re-write it. My laziness and lack of confidence prevents me from doing so.

In that sense there was a lesson involved, whereas this psychopath story was just about him killing a girl with grotesque imagery. But it has made me think more carefully of how "dark" I should make stories.

I never was really punished even when I did bad, like I was rarely beaten in any shape or form (it stopped when my Dad had to leave my Mom. Long story) and yet I am surprisingly mature/civil for my age, at least compared to most other teens. I could've been a fool, but then my step-father joined the picture and gave me and my twin sister something our family lacked: discipline and structure. In fact, chores are considered to be one of the more effective ways of getting children behaved. Parents lack those traits and also are over-protective.

In regards to Deadlines, yes, but the word limit was 1000. I wanted to do a war-story of some sort, but couldn't. I know it may seem odd that I advocate against killing stories since I'm a metalhead and like darker stories, but that was dark for the sake of being dark. There wasn't even a lesson. I was shocked it was featured. CNP

Sorry for a delayed response.

School is annoying. I wonder what it's like being a teacher though... Sometimes I see myself as one, but then I shrug the thought away. And I know the feeling where you want to do certain things but can't. In Writer's craft, we did a short story assignment. I had plenty of ideas, but due to the constricted time and length of the assignment I had to rush it. The stories that my teacher featured and presented to the class were very shallow though. One was about a killer just killing people, which for some reason drove me insane. I am getting a lot of ideas for poems or things like that, but I always throw it out shortly after I think of it. I dislike it.

I haven't been too confident as of late with anything. So I'm sort of just going through everything.

I have been busy myself. I'm in Grade 12, and it's getting busier.

Ever since my DS broke down, I haven't been too into Pokemon. I like how B/W2 have difficulty settings (which should be a standard feature), and perhaps that it is an actual sequel, but otherwise I'm not sure if I'll get it. I'll wait until I get another DS and perhaps until the next generation. I have been thinking of playing pokemon though. <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/sad.png" alt=":(" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/sad@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I don't mean to scare you, but I've heard there's a... hurricane coming to the east coast. You may have heard of it. Apparently it's big... Just check with your parents or whatever because it's pretty big. It's a mixed bag here. In school, it's going adequately, but I have no story ideas, and that's an issue since I'm in writer's craft. X_X Things are tough at home too with money and all, but we're still here after all.

I'm surprised that you have that... duck dude... as your avatar. I'm assuming someone accessed your account to switch it. But oh well. I just found it funny.
