<p><p><p><p><p><p>Dude, I am actually thinking exactly the same thing Staraptor. But the thing is I HAVE A GOOD ONE. An adamant one with 17 atk IVs I believe and in excess of 80 atk EVs, and you're right it just doesn't hit hard enough when you need it to. My Roserade is OHKOing things with petal dance far more often than Staraptor with Return / Close combat / fly. Early game it's a damned pro. But as it progresses and starts missing KOs it starts getting a bit annoying.</p></p></p></p></p></p>

<p><p><p><p><p><p>I know the feeling. It's like a race to 40... then after that it gets quite hard. I usually try and get 5 - 7 levels in between each gym, but towards the end it becomes harder because there's not quite so much time to grind in between. <p><p><p><p><p><p>Seriously try training it outside of the trophy gardens. Roselia and Staravia are so easy to kill, and Icy wind should be OHKOing them. Quick levels and good EVs. It's a perfect spot. It got my houndour from level 23 -> 32 in no time at all.</p></p></p></p></p></p>

Looking at Summurott in retrio form just solidifies further that I hate its design. It should not be quadrupedal, it should be a fast physical attacking glass cannon of a starter. Like sceptile, but water.
