  • PKHeX is a save editor for core-series Pokémon games. With it, users can manipulate various save files including: .sav, .dsv, .dat, .gci, .raw, and .bin types. PKHeX can also read and write: .pk files, which are individual Pokémon files, and .pgt, .pcd, .pgf, .wc, wcfull, which are Mystery Gift files.

Version 25.10.26 of PKHeX has been released, adding support for Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Do not report issues with this release's handling with legality/encounters.

PKHeX now requires the .NET Desktop Runtime 9.0 to run. If you receive an error when trying to run, ensure you have it installed.

Please note that other related applications will still require time to update, and updated versions of plugins or SysBot may not be available immediately.

    Changelog:

    Quote

    25/10/26 - New Update:
     - Added: Support for Legends: Z-A.
     - Legality:
     - - Initial handling for recognizing and generating encounters from Z-A.
     - - Please do not report issues with this release's handling with legality/encounters. We are aware of what still needs work.
     - Notes:
     - - All encounters can be traced back to an RNG seed.
     - - With multiple shiny rolls (wild only) or shinies, this calculation is not instant (>15 seconds), so it is only done for non-shiny 1-rolls.
     - - Do not be lulled into a false sense of safety that PKHeX does not flag your modified Pokémon's PID/IVs.
     - - Cheat codes that modify the RNG generation routine is detectable in the resulting Pokémon, as previously mentioned in Discord.
     - - Ability editing via the GUI has been forced into All-Abilities mode due to GameFreak not updating a Pokémon's ability on evolution.
     - Added: Gen9a: Pokédex and Trainer Info editor are available.
     - Added: Gen9a: Event block editors are available. 64-bit hash => text is not provided at this time.
     - Added: Gen9a: Fashion block editors are available. Fashion-item ID => text is not provided at this time.
     - Added: Bulk (Verify All) checks for issues with the save file, such as mismatched Fused slots or Mega stone inventory state issues.

How do I know if my shiny charm is working if I used pkhex/mods to get it? Is there a box I can check to let me know my shiny charm is actually working??

So what does this part mean? "All encounters can be traced back to an RNG seed."

Does this mean if I use EdiZon to force a shiny encounter, it wouldn't be a true shiny encounter that the game itself would generate? Same with IVs/Natures?

Correct. It's detectable that it was cheated.

As like prior games, shiny charm just needs to be present in your inventory for it to be considered as "active".

The odds of shiny go from 1:4096 to 1:1024~, so it's still an infrequent rate of shinies and you might not immediately notice.

If I make an alpha Pokémon shiny, it no longer appears as alpha in the game. Do you know why that happens and how to fix it? Is this a bug?

Found a work around for maxing Mable's research.

After completing every other research, I had 412/500 battles left to complete.

In PKHeX nder Flag -> Mable go to index 39 and set it to 0

This gave me 500 points each for completing pokedex and catching pokemon again. * tested gain just to be sure. Apparently index 40 is for evolution.

Hope this does not corrupt the file in the future but it worked.

Make a back up save file just in case.

After doing this and saving it, it can be repeated constantly. Just tested it.

That is weird, because for me, I made a Riolu that was an alpha shiny, and while I have not noticed if it retained it's alpha status in game, it did stay the same size as an alpha.

EDIT: I've just confirmed that the lucario that I evolved the Riolu into has remained an alpha while still a shiny, in game as well by looking at the icon in game.

I downloaded it and installed runtime desktop 9.0, but my PC just won't open PKHeX. Previous PKHeX versions could be opened without any problem.

I have replicated this bug multiple times.  When you edit your Pokedex, it seems to break the display for Charizard Y in both the regular and Mega Pokedex.

    Hello, sorry to bother you.
I’d like to ask — every time I edit the save file and then play the game, when I re-obtain items that I already owned, they are treated as if I’m receiving them for the first time, showing the “NEW” tag.
If I want to prevent this from happening after each modification, how should I handle it? Thank you!

    • Since they released over a decade ago, the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games for the Nintendo DS have not had much in the way of ROM editors. Over the past few years, hackers have slowly learned more and more about the inner workings of the games, culminating in the most advanced PMD editor to date: Sky Temple.

SkyTemple is a user-friendly level editor for Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky that gives the user full control over graphics, scripts, Pokémon data, and more, enabling a great amount of creative freedom to prospective ROM hackers to create not just edits of the game, but entirely new levels and plots.
