abszs123 Posted July 4 Posted July 4 I've been looking more into the shiny cute charm glitch. I've read the guide on smogon and had a few questions. If you want to target specific shiny high iv pokemon is the only way to do it through the pokeradar? Does sweet scent not work if you have a cute charm lead? The other thing is on somgon's guide it says this 'The true value of Cute Charm lies in the huge possibility of shiny spreads. In other words, instead of just catching shiny Pokemon that are Modest/Timid 31/31/31/31/31/31 in one save file, you could be catching shiny Calm 31/14/31/31/31/31, Adamant 31/31/31/7/31/31, Jolly 31/31/31/16/31/31 or Modest 31/12/31/31/31/31 Pokemon all in one save file! And that's just the beginning!' So it says how catch many different natures all in one save file but how can that be possible becuase on their own shiny group table I thought you were limited to the Pokémon natures in that table group. So my understanding was that if you had a shiny ID and TID that corresponds to shiny group 1 then you'll only get the follwing hardy, lonely, brave, adamant, naughty, bold, docile and relaxed. My confusion comes from it saying you can modest, timid, calm, and jolly. Those natures aren't found together in any table group from what I can see so it seems to be insinuating that you can get natures from different tables under the same TID and SID. If anyone could clear this up it would be much appreciated.
Kaphotics Posted July 4 Posted July 4 The only alteration the game does when generating the pokemon, in comparison to how it normally does, is that it skips the normal PID generating process and uses a fixed value based on the nature it wants. The Smogon article is poorly worded -- you can't get every single option that was listed in that sentence, only those that are in the same "shiny group". You can get a few, but not every nature all in the same save file. Pick a group, then get a TID/SID that pairs with that group to make it shiny, then use a searching tool like RNG Reporter / Pokefinder to see what IV spreads you can get shinies with.

Thanks, all of that makes sense. I knew it sounded a bit too good to be true, still it's way better than the normal TID SID that gives 2 nature pairs.
manolin18 Posted Saturday at 01:17 AM Posted Saturday at 01:17 AM I would advise you to choose “Male Lead (Any gender ratio for female)” "Shiny Group 2". For me it is the one with the best natures. About “sweet scent” if it is used in fact it is a very important part. It is also important to say that not all pokemon can get the IV you want, I mean many IV distributions are associated with certain slots and you depend on that slot in the pokemon you want. An example: 31/7/31/31/31/31/28 Timid HP Ice I go to Route 8 to capture a Growlithe but this Pokemon is only in slot 6,7,8,10 and that IV distribution is only for slot 1, so I can have a Haunter with those IVs

I did end up going for group 2 shiny male lead becuase I can get Jolly, Timid and Modest. I miss out on adamant but it's still the best out of the groups. The slot thing clears up my last confusion because like you said I noticed that even on certain tables I couldn't get one or two natures with a specific iv spread so it makes more sense about different spreads being linked to encounter slots. I think I'm getting the hang of it now though, as I just rng'd a shiny starter.

I in my HG/SS games have managed to get adamant 3IV and the other 2IV at 20+, I guess there may be a SID and TID that are compatible with this glitch and some of the 5IV adamant. I always talk about HG/SS which is what I play D/P/P/Pt I think it will be similar. The example I gave was of HG/SS over slots, which is a bit frustrating but is compensated by all the pokemon you can get Edited Sunday at 11:35 PM by manolin18
