Oak’s Letter activates a special event that allows the player to capture the 492nd Pokémon, Shaymin.</p><p>Te event will be available via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection starting on September 28th and will conclude on November the 8th.</p>

It really itches me that they ignore the vast majority of Diamond and Pearl players with these wifi events. I might just end up using AR to activate my Member Pass and Oak's Letter in game, alone with the rest of my Poketechs..

Platinum is totally worth the purchase. Move tutors, faster everything (text, walking/running/bike, surf), more and extended plot, extended Sinnoh dex, Kanto and Hoenn legendary trio, Battle Frontier, and just a ridiculous amount of stuff.

You can download the Wondercard whenever, and you can receive the item as soon as you can get to any Pokemart in the game. But you'll need the national dex before you can go to see Shaymin.
