Hey I have a pixel 3 XL, and it was slow too but I followed these settings on this video and it became quite playable..

I'm trying to play this on the android version of dolphin but it seems to crash and go back to the dolphin home screen every time I try to choose a move in battle. The normal Pokémon XD seems to work fine, any ideas? Edit: seems to work after disabling panic handlers with some random crashes here and there which isn't too much of an issue. Thanks for this hack, loving it!
