Here's everything I could get from the July 25th 2017 debug of Ultra Sun. There's the team you start with, all of the BOXFULL boxes, test Battle Spot mons, and all of the debug Mystery Gifts I could find. I probably missed something because there's so many options, but this is what I could get for now.

Catching stuff is still impossible because all of the debugs reset after any type of encounter or battle. The code.bin file might need another hex edit to get around it, but I have no idea where to look.

  2. Oh my gosh, I finally cracked it.

Turns out the issue where saving crashes was due to the debug not generating a save file on boot unlike the retail games. Once I imported my save file for base game Moon it now saves correctly with no issues! Battles still reset the game, but at least I can finally contribute some of these enigmatic mons.

Here's the four mons you start with in the earliest of the debugs. The later ones have their own unique debug Pokemon so I'll have to look at those too.

maybe to start with, look for something (like your OT Name) in the RAM, and try to 'make a save' from that RAM dump, and align and compare against a regular save, to see if everything matches up. Then, you can try to compare if the pk7 format is different. Or maybe find a way to trade to a regular game, if possible.

I'll see what I can do. Is there a writeup somewhere about the save structure and hex values for letters in your name? I was going to start with an OT name search.

Or derp, I thought it would work with the debuts as it is. With minor tweaks should be possible. I was able to get Gen 9 mons dumped from a RAM, by changing Gen 8 format to Gen 9 >< (which wasn’t a major change.

Also yeah, perhaps the debugs had different formats. Able to extract stuff from the saves @SwagKey?

Unfortunately, it reboots back to the main debug menu after any sort of battle and the game crashes if it tries to save in any way. I would have at least dumped a few mons before posting this, but I don't know how to dump RAM from Citra for extraction.

So yeah, RAM extractions are the only option unless someone manages to fix those issues.

You shouldn’t have the game to run. For anyone else that somehow has them properly, in order to RAM dump on Citra, just use Task Manager to dump the memory of Citra when the game is running

Oh, really? I didn't know about that! With that I managed to finally get the memory dumps I needed!

Unfortunately, the RAM to PKX extractors I use don't seem to work for these. Is there another possible tool I can use?

  6. As much as I prefer to not necropost, this is kind of a big deal. We missed out on a treasure trove of content.

There's four debug builds of Gen 7 games out there with a metric ton of functions to pick from. They require some tinkering to boot and work, but there a lot to gather here. I've only looked into the earliest one, but later versions apparently fixed some options that crashed in earlier ones.

  7. Yeah, so all of the Gamestops around my area are dry on codes for them so I'm out of options. If anyone has any spare codes for the Genesect, Volcanion, and Marshadow I would really appreciate it.

I already have them in previous games, but it's nice to have Gen 8 native ones.

  8. I didn't know where else to put this, so I'm putting it here and hoping for the best.

I haven't seen this talked about much, especially from a forgettable game, but apparently there were some event courses in Pokemon Dash that have never resurfaced.

    https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pokémon_Dash#Special_courses

    https://www.serebii.net/dash/eventstages.shtml

Despite the issues, I still think its worth it to get access to these courses if they exist somewhere in the game's data. I'm thinking that modifying a party Pokemon's ID in a GBA game beyond Chimecho's slot might correspond to one of the event courses when imported, although I haven't gotten around to testing it yet. Maybe we can at least recreate the Deoxys event cup since it's impossible to get all of the forms on one cart?

  9. Ran into another shiny in Emerald's Battle Pyramid and caught using a glitch to bring balls in there.

Here's some potential projects to get this going again.

-In-game trades from the Spaceworld '99 demos. They're different from the final releases in some way or another.

-The rest of the rental Pokemon from Stadium 2

-The unreleased Shadow Makuhita, Misdreavus, and Spoink from Colosseum

-The mons from the SWSH and Let's Go betas

  10. So I've been messing around with the DP demo, and since you can't save normally the only way to go about normally is through save states. Unfortunately, my last couple of save states, including all of the backups in in case it ever happened, somehow got randomly corrupted and all of my progress is now lost.

Only one of them got out in a more clearer status than the others, but I'm completely unsure if or how it can be fixed. I used Desmume 0.9.11 x86 if you want to load it.

  11. It's surprise stuff like this that makes me so happy to have a certain glitch active in case I ever encountered such an enigma.

Here's a random shiny Crawdaunt I encountered around half an hour ago in Emerald's Battle Pyramid and caught thanks to a glitch that allows you to put balls in your battle bag. Feel free to add it to the Uncatchable Battle Frontier Pokemon section if you want.

I don't know how the berry planting system works, but if you have a save that is before planting the berry at that spot, and a save directly after planting a berry at the spot, we may be able to try to work something out.

Unfortunately, I don't have a save file from before it happened, only after. At best I can provide a save that has no other berries planted but the glitched Cheri Berry.

  13. So there's this little known glitch in Pokemon Emerald where if you trade with either Colosseum or XD it automatically plants a Cheri Berry next to the Berry Master's house that never fully grows. Unfortunately it happened to me and now I can't plant anything there, but since I have access to my save file I was wondering if there's a way to use PKHeX to remove it.

    Any help is appreciated!

  14. I find it quite ironic that this topic got bumped up as I just got a Japanese e-reader plus specifically for this game. I just need some glossy printer paper to help print out the dotcodes and I'm golden.

...except I can't find the dumps for the two promotional trainer cards anywhere. If anyone knows where I can find them it'll save me the trouble of hunting them down.

That's not why I came here though. Someone's been making Action Replay codes that gives certain trainers shadow Pokemon. Even though I'm sure they're 100% fake, there's a code out there that makes it so a trainer has a shadow Castform. Take it with a grain of salt, but I think there's something to look into with these.

Secondly, I need someone to find the source of this piece of information from Bulbapedia's article on Colosseum's Double Battle e cards:

    • In the internal files for Pokémon Colosseum, there is data for an unreleased 21st battle card that was never distributed. The battle would occur against Team Snagem Goku.

I haven't seen any other source to help confirm this. I know that the data exists, but I haven't heard anything else about it.

  15. I keep getting this error report and the program refuses to start. Apparently it has something to do with a fake save file?
