  1. They do need internet. Basically you put the serial and the game checks with the nintendo servers if you are allowed to download an event corresponding to that serial, and then proceeds to download it. Or not, if you input a wrong serial. They are probably region locked as well, given they still use the wi-fi.
  2. Ah I misunderstood your intentions, but I still meant: just change that part to 1 or 0 for whatever game you need . But yeah, if you don't wanna be editing it manually every time, go with 2 individual files. PS: A good alternative is creating a batch file to edit the text for you.
  3. Just set up the complete file and change this part under the "-- General Parameters for current game and setup" part: local game=0 -- 0 for white, 1 for black No need to use 2 files.
  4. Yes, but the way Pokegen reads (and saves) the OT bytes, not the Pokemon Nickname bytes, is the issue here. At least with the .pkm uploaded by both Pingouin7 and ZMaster and myself. Using trashbytes to describe it might not have been the best idea, tho.
  5. There is a good example of what happens exactly. Found out it doesn't only happen with Emerald, but also with Ruby. At least for me. Uploaded thru the GTS to Pokecheck: https://www.pokecheck.org/?p=detail&uid=5837190 Extracted with Pokegen: https://www.pokecheck.org/?p=detail&uid=5837371 Pokegen reads the OT info as: ERRa\7544\0249\FFFF\FFFF Pokecheck: https://www.pokecheck.org/?p=detail&uid=5837154 Pokegen: https://www.pokecheck.org/?p=detail&uid=5837275 Reads OT info as: ERRAd\0249\FFFF\FFFF Pokecheck: https://www.pokecheck.org/?p=detail&uid=5837193 Pokegen: https://www.pokecheck.org/?p=detail&uid=5837354 Reads OT info as: ERRADi\FFFF\FFFF
  6. This problem doesn't seem to happen with my firered > heartgold transfers, but it does happen with emerald > heartgold (and only on some pokemon). I didnt test other 3rd gen to 4th gen games combinations tho.
  7. Yay, found out what exactly was the difference between those zigzagoons passing the legal.exe check and the ones which weren't making it. The valid PID is generated on the Gamecube with a different PID method than the other (invalid and illegal) ones. Somehow Pokecheck isn't recognizing this difference. But at least now I can rest at ease knowing what method they used
  8. I know Sabresite built in the checks into his program in the 53-xx or 54-xx. What I don't understand is what method is used to generate the legal ones and what's exactly the difference when the only change in some of them is just the... and IV/spread. Thanks for clarifying that just in case .
  9. Anyone knows what's the correct PID method or IV spread that was used for this pokemon? I'm mainly curious as many the ones floating around on the pokecheck GTS return a valid gen 3 egg PID there, and a hacked berry glitch zigzagoon warning on the old sabresite's legal.exe (which I know it's outdated, but it just seems wierd).
