  1. Originnaly, I was referring to Gen 5 only. (Not that other pokemon aren't OPd) And yes, I have noticed a complete lack of good defensive pokemon, when compared to the offensive counterparts. It has made my strategy rather one dimensional unfortunetly: Line up move type advantage. Attack Attack again Win! *sigh* Perhaps the devs will work on some awesome defense pokemon for G6? Or, even better, the old pokemon stats will be completely re-worked to be in-balance with the new generation.
  2. Reuniclus may be OP'd, but I don't think it is neccesarily that much better than the other Psychics in this game. Elgeym and Gothita's evolutions are also quite good, if not OP'd.
  3. Originnally? Squirtle That thing never got past lvl. 29 I *almost* beat the E4 with one pokemon in that game though! Lvl 62 Sandslash with Dig. Ahhhh... good times.
  4. Yo. Yep, that's my cheezy line. I hope you liked it, because I don't plan on writing another. Anyway, I've been playing pokemon for probably 7 or so years, on and off. Started with the original G1 games, also had a blast with Crystal. Skipped G3, got back on board with Diamond in generation 4. After failing to find anything that captured my intrest by SS, I was about ready to give up. Gave in to trying Black, and found I liked it more than any of the others since Yellow Version. I also play numerous genres of video games aside from Pokemon, namely strategy and RPG games. I also have this annoying tendancy to overthink everything. Still, message me if you have any questions. I probably won't respond, but you never know. Nintz
  5. If there is already something like this, please delete/lock this thread. For those of you that don't know, Zorua is a relatively good Dark pokemon that is infamous for requiring an G4 event pokemon to get. Unfortunately I missed that event. I searched the web and found some sort of GTS glitch that didn't work, so now I'm posting here. I am in need of a Zorua, and hopefully someone has one. I can trade a Sawk, Maractus, or Sigilyph. I believe they are relatively rare. None of them are past lvl. 20 or so. If you want another pokemon, ask, but I haven't gotten very far yet, so no telling if I'll have it. Edit: Currently undergoing trade.
  6. Just curious, what is the general consensus on what pokemon (legendaries exempted) tend to be overpowered? I've read that Volcarona is a monster, Eelektross and Darmantian too, if built right. What else is there?
  7. I went with Tepig, though my brother is having one heck of a time with Oshawott. If you want a challenge, go for Snivy though. It is not as statistically superior as Oshawott, nor does it have a dual-type advantage like Tepig will. (I consider having a Fighting type thrown on an advantage). In regards to the past starters, I've chosen Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Chikorita, Totodile, Cydanquil, and Piplup. I've found most every starter to be balanced more or less. Although Meganium is definitly the worst of the starters I've used during the E4, it's not bad per se, it's just not great.
  8. Samurott is water, you know. Replacing it with an electric pokemon is...odd. Still, G5 has a couple of options. The aforementioned pokeom Eelektross, Zebstrika, and Galvantula all have their strengths. Eelektross has no weaknesses. No, really. Electricity is weak only to ground, but Eelektross has levitate. However, it is not a dual-type, so nothing can hit this for massive damage. Not without gravity at least. Combine this with awesome HP and Attack, along with passable Defense, and you have the best long-term G5 electric pokemon in the game. Zebstrika starts strong, but never gets any better. Good versus water and flying, but horrible against heavy tank-like pokemon. Not anything more than a temporary solution. Galvantula is my current choice in-game. It has the hidden benefit of bug and electric canceling the weaknesses to flying and ground, leaving it with only one or two defensive failures. Its main weakness is fire. Relatively fast as well as strong enough to get the job done, Galvantula is best placed in a party that has failed to get a bug pokemon already. Note about Galvantula though, make sure yours has Compoundeyes. Unnerve is horrible, while Compoundeyes is at least relatively useful. If you like legendaries, there is always Zekrom, you know. Being a cover pokemon, I don't think much needs to be said.
  9. I'd say the best pure bird pokemon (normal/flying) from G5 is Braviary. Unfezzant's stats and moves don't match up well, and Vullaby (and its evolutions) have terrible stats and moves across the board. Other than that, only Ducklett, Sigilyph, and Archen are really worth consideration. They are Water, Psychic, and Rock respectively. While all are good, the question is more about what your particular party needs. Or, if you don't need a flying pokemon in your party, but you still want to fly, there is one option: Gollett. This Ground/Ghost can...somehow... learn Fly. Seriously.
  10. Personnaly, I found Elessa hardest in my current playthrough. Those Emolga were tough to take down, though I found that my Petillil and its Sleep Powder helped to some degree. Zebstika was actually tougher though. Almost all of my pokemon were under-leveled and kept getting one-hit KO'd. Eventually, my lvl. 28 (or so) Pignite was able to take it down with a couple of Flame Charges (with potions). Striaton City gave me trouble on my first try. I didn't have the monkey yet. Turns out Patrat's bide is really effective here. Lenora also gave me a headache, though. I hadn't quite gotten a Pignite when I first arrived. Went out and trained a little, taught my Lvl. 18 Pignite Rock Smash, and voila! No more problems. Burgh was easy, due to Pignite. Clay actually took only two tries. My team at this point was Pignite, Vanillite, Ducklett, Gothita, and really under-leveled Blitzle and Sandile. Vanillite was able to one-hit his Krokorak with Avalanche. Pignite (equipped with quick claw) was able to get a flame charge on Excadrill, before fainting. Sent out the sacrificial lambs Blitzle and Sandile while I healed Pignite, then hit Excadrill again, fainting it. Palpitoad then came out. Turned out that my Ducklett helped here. By being a water-flying, it was immune to all of his ground attacks, and resistant to Muddy Water. Aqua Ring, and just one potion required to beat it. I have not yet fought Skyla, but I have a lvl. 32 Joltik with me. Brycen will be very easy with my Pignite/Emboar, and I'll have a Vanillish for Drayden. So I think the toughest is over for me.
