  1. good point on that, kyo. and you know now that i think about it ground really doesnt make much sense. Well i guess we'll find out, if gamefreak is nice enough.

Talked with a few people about the Pokemon Grey version issue that everyone is buzzing about. People are saying it would be advantageous for Nintendo if they released Grey on the 3DS, whereas everyone else is crying and whining that it needs to stay on the DS until this generation comes to a close. Since this is somewhat related, here's my educated prediction:

Pokemon Grey will be released for the DS, but there will be special 3DS Grey content released through the AR Cards method that the 3DS is currently implementing. Why? Let's discuss:

If Grey were to be released on the 3DS, it would require a complete system overhaul. You'd have to rewrite the entire game and really kick everything up a couple dozen notches in order to implement the 3D in to the game. Not only that, you'd be writing off dozens of fans and a lot of profit. Yes, having a Pokemon title on the 3DS would be a great boost to sales, especially in anticipation of trying to outself the NGP, but I'm hoping (And betting) that Nintendo will keep Grey on the DS as a final means to keep things in order.

  2. This is my current Zoroark I'm using on one of my teams. I'll explain my choices:

    Nope! Try again~

    Zoroark @ Bright Powder/Focus Sash

    Ability: Illusion

    - Night Daze

    - Grass Knot

    - Flame Thrower

    - Protect

Fun thing, this Pokemon. See, one of my main strategies with this Pokemon is to use it to throw people off. Running this with a Conkledurr or a Spiritomb in the last slot of your party is what I normally do.

-When running Conkledurr: Since it comes out disguised as a Conkledurr, the opponent's initial thought is one of two things: 1) Use a psychic move. 2) Use a flying move. If played correctly, your unsuspecting opponent will play right in to your hand and attempt to try and nail you with a psychic type move. Since Zoroark is a dark type, Psychic moves won't affect it. By the time they realize this mistake, you'll have gotten a hit in and hopefully done some massive damage with Night Daze or even Flamethrower/Grassknot (Depending on the opponent's Pokemon). In the event they do figure you out right away or they use a flying move, you still have a bit of back up. Use Protect to stall them and keep them at bay while your other Pokemon take your attacker down a couple notches. Yes. This is built for my doubles/triples team. I've managed to use this particular strategy and last an entire match without being found out, though to be fair the guy I was fighting wasn't too bright. :P

-When running Spiritomb: A nice recommendation my friend Kyle made to me when we were discussing Zoroark. Being a Dark Type, Zoroark is prone to two major weaknesses: Fighting and Bug. While discussing this weakness, Kyle brought up a good point: "If you run with a Spiritomb, you eliminate the major threat of a Fighting type trying to hit you. Most people are aware of Spiritomb's immunity to Fighting type moves, and as such that'll be the last thing they want to try and use on you. Not only that, but its moves also blend well enough to allow you to remain undetected if you can keep the pressure on and keep on hammering away at the long enough to deal some good damage before being found out." As such, I decided to run with the same move set and test it out. Sure enough, keeping the pressure on allowed me to take down half their team in a triples battle and two of their Pokemon in a doubles before being found out.

-Why the Bright Powder: You can whine and complain about the Accuracy Clause all you want, but this item allows for a nice bit of insurance in battle. Lowering the enemy's accuracy gives you that extra turn to keep going if their attack misses, giving you ample time to whittle your opponent's tank or wall down using Zoroark's wicked 125 base Special Attack. In the event that you wanna run a better item, Focus Sash is a good bit of insurance.

  3. Wow, there is a lot of interesting stuff going on here. If there is another form, I just hope it retains its Ice typing... only because if it does not, Gamefreak has succeeded in making Ice type look inferior once again. D:<

Whatever the case, we will know in the next game (should it come). That quote from N Pingouin stated somewhat interests me and might correlate to the central plot of a Grey version.

Ewww typo. Thanks Toff, that would have been a grave error on my part...

And Toff, there are no Vanillites near Giant Chasm :/

Also, the notion of Kyurem's incompleteness is indeed derived from its lack of symmetry. However, it is also from its battling prowess too, as mentioned, as it lacks 20 base stats from being even equal to Reshiram and Zekrom and is aberrant in the moves it learns, which makes you wonder why Gamefreak would let their designers get away with a "trio master" in this ridiculous form? It looks like it is begging for a simple upgrade of some sorts. This isn't foreign as upgrades were done during Gen IV to some Pokemon like Giratina and Rotom (though the former is mostly a form change rather than an upgrade), but perhaps they are trying a different approach this time?

I think they ran out of time, threw some random thing in, called it the Ice Dragon, and said "Hey just wait until Grey version! We'll make something cool out of this guy! We promise!"

*stares at Farfetch'd, Delibird, Luvdisc, and a whole slew of other Pokemon who were on the "upgrades wanted" waiting list*

"We'll get to them too! Really!"

First off, I'm appalled by the lack of, oh, I don't know.... DUNSPARCE... On your list. >:C Also, the whole quote from N thing is somewhat self explained. Let's think back for a moment on the whole topic of the Original Dragon. Several different Ideals were mixed together during the era of this Pokemon. One brother sought this world of ideals, while the other sought the Truth. Perhaps this quote is merely meant as a reference to the creation of Reshiram and Zekrom. The separation of Truth and Ideals in to separate entities. The separation of Grey in to Black and White. Just a thought.

On the topic of the moves Freeze Burn and Ice Shock (Or whatever), I'm liking the idea of eliminating the Charge Up time on these moves. Perhaps there will be an interesting turn of events here. Here's my hypothesis:

-Kyurem receives a Form Change of some kind and a new ability that eliminates charge up time; a permanent Red Herb ability, if you will. As such, his signature moves are then left open to be Freeze Burn and Ice Shock (Or whatever).

-Reshiram and Zekrom both receive their respective moves Freeze Burn and Ice Shock. HOWEVER, since these two do NOT have the aforementioned ability that reduces charge time, these moves are then made less effective on both dragons due to their only being HALF of the original dragon each. This could tie in on some level to Kyurem resembling and being the physical majority of the original dragon or some random story plot twist thing or whatever. Don't ask me.

-Form Change allows Kyurem to take on a more even form that may/may not resemble the original dragon OR both Reshiram and Zekrom.

On the topic of being to use Fire/Electric type moves, I wouldn't bet against it. If Kyurem really is a shell of the original dragon, then it's not too Farfetch'd (OH LOOK. LOOK. A PUN. A POKEMON PUN. AHAHAHAHAHA. I'M SO WITTY.) to assume that Kyurem would be able to learn lesser electric and fire type moves, such as Charge Beam or Incinerate.

Regarding the presence of neutrality with Kyurem, it makes a great deal of sense. Though I don't know how to expand upon the idea right now. HOORAY.

And lastly, ground dragon seems kinda.... I dunno. It almost feels way off, given the concept of Kyurem. I like the idea of Kyurem becoming an Ice type when its source of heat left, but at the same time why would it be ground type? Why not be something else that is a medium between Fire and Lightning? Again though, given the types in Pokemon, finding a Medium between the two is kinda hard. Perhaps the one dragon was just straight dragon type? Most Dragon types (KEY WORD: MOST) are capable of learning fire and electric type moves. Hydreigon, Druddigon, Palkia... Who said the original Dragon needed any other type? :D

And that's my two bits for now.

  4. Nugget sells for 5000, and Stardust and Star Pieces are selling fodders as well...

As for Cover Fossil, you can resurrect it to become a Tirtouga in that city with the museum (the name escapes me).

Keep Heart Scales, as they are important items in allowing you to relearn old moves that you want to relearn in that Ground Gym City. One of the houses has a move relearner.

Nacrene. Also, a little note that Balm Mushrooms, Comet Pieces, etc sell for high prices to certain collectors. If I recall, the chef outside Nimbasa near the street performers buys Balm Mushrooms for a good chunk of cash.

  5. Probably not true but that first idea that came to mind was that during the separation of Reshiram and Zekrom, a large excess of energy was released. This energy caused a mutation in a nearby pokemon (Vanilite?) which may explain its incomplete appearances. But personally, I never thought that any strong pokemon looked complete... (Mewtwo Ex will disagree with this)

I'm.... Kinda borderline with this one. I agree with the release of energy sort of thing because that makes a bit of sense, but the mutation kinda makes me go, "Wait what?" Still, who am I to dismiss something in a speculation thread? As for the looking complete thing, I think it's more so the lack of symmetry on this Pokemon that throws people off.

  6. I'm putting my money on the Giratina factor at this point. The burn and shock moves I'm also putting on Kyurem. Lord knows that Kyurem needs the upgrade. Besides, the way I see it, they'll probably use Kyurem and the god stone as a means of quelling the battle between the two dragons as far as story goes. I'll type more when I'm not tired.

Alright. Time for my coherent two bits on this matter:

As far as story goes, I'm going to go out on a limb and try and tie as much of the speculation together as I'm able. Taking into consideration the idea that the Musketeer Pokemon tie in to this story in some way, let's consider this:

Amidst the battle of the two ignorant sons of the original dragon users, Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion use their abilities to rescue dozens of Pokemon. In their attempt to try and save as many Pokemon as they can, the three Pokemon use their powers to revive the fallen shell that was once the mighty dragon that Reshiram and Zekrom split from. Assuming that the timeline goes:

    -The one Dragon

-The one Dragon splits/Fall of the "Meteor" that created Giant Chasm

    -Second Generation Battle

-The Great Fire that Cobalion, Virizion, and Terrakion are involved in

We can then assume that, upon reviving the fallen shell of the great dragon, Reshiram and Zekrom were in turn brought to their senses by the revival of the shell's resurrection (Linked minds perhaps since the two beasts originated from the shell?). After disappearing, Kyurem then went to devour the humans responsible for the destruction of the Unova region. Again, I know this is rough, but my mind isn't exactly functioning well enough to put together a more.... Fluid storyline. I'll probably revise this or something at some point or another. I'm going to hope that Kyurem gets a form change that better resembles the True Dragon's once complete form, but the drawback is that it doesn't have quite as much power. I'll bet that it'll exceed or rival Reshiram and Zekrom's base stats in this form, but will be a bit more on the defensive sides with decent attack stats (as was previously mentioned). Once can hope.

  7. Here's a fun fact: If you want a Re-Battle Code, provide GBATEMP with a save file set right before battling the Pokemon you want. If you provide them with the save file, they will use said save file to extract the data needed to make the code you want.

    http://cheats.gbatemp.net/forum/index.php?topic=5883.0

Go there if you have a save file that fits the criteria. You must have the save file set so that you haven't fought the Pokemon yet, but you can interact with it and battle it. Don't ask me any questions, PM me, or anything else like that for more info. I've given you all you need.

  9. Just use Pokesav or catch it the legit way. The PID is so fickle in this generation that wasting time on a code like this; a code that would be so horrendously complex that it would make most coders want to rip their own hair out is almost completely out of the question. Then again, you may get lucky and someone may make the code. Who knows? Stay tuned to find out.

  10. Regarding the Re-battle codes.

Select button is to activate the re-battle codes. Should be done before entering the area where the legendaries are. A minor detail but I did this just now.

Doesn't matter. Either way the code will work. If you activate while in the room, leave and come back in.

Updated PC Marking Codes. Much thanks to Prof 9, M@T, Elixir, and the entire GBATEMP code team.

  11. I dont think its that they are useless the Apricorn Balls were made to have a better catch rate depending on what and when your using them. Its just harder to actually catch the pokemon if any of the standards are met i think they have the % of a pokeball's catch rate if not meet the standards, so maybe that why they seem useless to catch more harder to catch pokemon.

    Ex. Lure Ball = Fishing

Love Ball = Diff Gender than you are. (so if your a boy its easier to cath female pokemon)

Fast Ball = For Fast Stat pokemon such as Legendary Dogs.(Well that what i caught my Raikou with in HG lol)

Heavy Ball = Pokemon that Weight alot. (So it wont work well with light pokemon)

He doesn`t mean they're useless as in they have no practical application, but rather they are quite literally useless as in you cannot use them. Period. Even if you have them in your bag, there is no coding that allows the game to recognize them as items you can use in battle. You cannot use them to catch wild pokemon. The only use they have is for the Zoroua Event. Read my last post.

  12. I'm sure I'm sounding like an old record now and I apologize for it but, the marking poke'ball mod code doesn't seem to work. No matter what I do. Is there a code to change the ball or let me use the Johto Apricorn balls?

Allow me to answer your question. The short of it is no, there is not nor will there be a code to make the apricorn balls usable in battle. You CAN, however, use them for the Zoroua Event in Castellia [Check the B/W US request thread for the Redo Zoroua Event]. The reason for this is because the coding for the pokeballs was never properly input to the game to allow them to be used, much like the RedChain in D/P. As such, since alot of the same item data from HG/SS exists in the game code, the apricorn balls can be obtained through non-standard means, but they cannot be used in game because they were never intended to be usable or even obtainable in the first place. As such, you could call the apricorn balls junk data in that sense. I'm also fairly sure that they were intended to be useable, but to avoid the TM change between Fourth and Fifth Gen, they had to abandon allowing Pokemon to carry items over. I'm sure that they will find a way to re-implement the apricorn balls in grey version. B/W was rushed in the first place, so it's not surprising so much was left out during the change. Anyways, hope this helped. Had to type this frim my DSi. :P

  13. I've been searching for almost a week and I have not been able to find an "Access Computer Anywhere" code. There was one for the Japanese versions of the games but there's not one for the US versions. It was activated simply by pressing start, which was pretty great considering it's kind of a pain to keep an HM slave in your party at all times. So can anyone please make a code like this? I'm surprised hardly anyone has asked for one.

  16. It doesn't work. At least, not for everyone. With my version of AR, I kept getting the "Not a Firmware File" error. I think it was because I was trying to go from 1.52 to 1.71 without getting 1.60 in between. I couldn't find a download for 1.60 anywhere, sadly.

Have you attempted to manually reset your AR to it's factory settings? I'll look in to finding a firmware fix if I can.
