True, and it's largely irrelevant. But if/when we do discover the TID and SID generation algorithm, it may be possible to detect some previously Powersaved shinies as illegitimate—of course, a lot of combinations are legitimately generated, so it's quite possible that the hacked combination would be fine. My guess would be that Nintendo's checks don't take this sort of thing into account when checking—hell, Premier Ribbons from Pokécheck make it across Pokémon Transporter no problem, and those were added (I assume) specifically to mark the Pokémon as cloned/external to the game. But regardless, it's one (future) possible way they may be detected (by the community, not necessarily by Nintendo).
-
My apologies, I don't think I am explaining myself well enough. The TID and SID are stored in 2 bytes; and so have the range 0x0000=0 and 0xFFFF=65535 as you say—there is no way for Powersaves to generate one outside of this range. These are generated the moment the game is started (in previous generations, this was sometime between selecting your character's name, and gaining control of them). However, in previous generations at least not every TID could be matched with every SID. I cannot think of any off the top of my head, but as an example; if your TID was 65535, it's possible that the game could never give you the SID 00000, because that pair is never generated by the RNG. Since (I assume) Powersaves just uses the reverse of the formula for calculating the Egg's SV to set the TID and SID to a combination which makes the Pokémon shiny (for example; SID = (LID XOR HID) XOR TID), this may not always result in a legal TID and SID pair.
-
Don't worry, I won't take offence. I understand that we can view the TID and SID, I was referring to the manner in which the numbers are generated. I believe there are 65536*65536 combinations, and it's quite possible that not all of these can actually be generated when starting a new game. If/when the RNG for generation of TID and SID becomes known (or public), it's possible that a Powersaves hacked shiny can be proven illegitimate if it has a TID and SID combination which isn't obtainable (legitimately). There were certainly some combinations which weren't possible in past generations (when TID and SID abuse was a thing).
-
We don't know how TID and SID's are generated yet (as far as I know), and so it's possible that the Powersaves hack gives it an illegal combination.
-
No worries, and thank you for your candour. I still have all my Pokémon (on the Pokémon Bank) so I haven't lost out on too much. I just had a point saved where the next egg would always be shiny (with Masuda Method criteria parents). I had been switching in different parents; to be honest, I probably overused it anyway. I shall keep the saves, and regularly check back in case such a function/ability becomes known.

My apologies if this is a question which has been answered already (I read through this whole thread and didn't notice a solution): Short version: Is there anyway to restore a Powersaves backup onto a cartridge other than the original? Long version: I had a Pokémon X cartridge, which I have several Powersaves backups for. Unfortunately that cartridge has since died. Is there any way (regardless of difficulty) for me to restore these saves onto a new Pokémon X cartridge. Any help greatly appreciated.
-
Quick question as to whether this has been tried: - Back up a save using Powersaves. - Use the (reverse of) the KeySAV algorithm to place a new pkx into a box on the save file. - Load the save back into Powersaves. - Add a code to the save (any will do) so that it goes over to their servers [where hopefully they fix the necessary checksums]. - Load the save that came back from their servers. Sorry if this has been tried already, was planning to give it a go this weekend when I have some time but wanted to check it hasn't already been tried and failed.
-
For anyone interested, thought I'd post a complete Code List (ordered as per there software, please forgive any grammar and spelling errors, copied as they have written): Note: This was for Pokémon Y, I'm away from my copy of X at the moment, so I can't check for that, but I assume they're at least for the most part the same.

OK, for anyone who might be able to figure anything out from this: Here's a zip of 16 packets from showing the same Pokémon in standard trade. Each were (as close to as I could manage) 20 seconds apart. Start time, and Pokémon data included in the Info.rtf file. Hopefully there's no risk of personal information of me or the trade partner being findable in this (my apologies to them if there is). PacketDumps..zip
-
Is anyone around willing to AFK in a trade for a while (without showing any pokes of their own). I'll sync my DS up, and dump the whole packet for the same poke every 20 seconds or so? See if that gives people anything to go on?

Beta: the pokécheck legality checker for generation 5
BeUndead replied to xfr's topic in Pokémon Legality
Done and done, thanks for the info. A false negative(? unless I misunderstood the trash bytes), and possible slight problem with part of the system: CHANSEY from Gen III (Emerald) brought through using the Upload Gen IV Poke as Gen V Poke option, has trash bytes for original name HAPPINY, who didn't exist in Gen III (i.e. that wasn't the original name). Also, same Chansey, nicknamed and mimic glitched for Wish, comes up as "Event only move" (which is half right I suppose). -
Beta: the pokécheck legality checker for generation 5

Pokémon for which I have performed the following show up as "Missing HGSS hatch trash bytes"... - I hatched the Poke, and selected No Nickname (as some people don't like a nickname for their pokes, and most of these were trading fodder). - I then nicknamed the Poke for my own usage with whatever name I so chose at the time. Also, all my Pokémon's Pokérus came from the same strain (off of a traded Poke), and yet half of them appear as "default strain", and half as "hacked or from hacked Pokémon". -

Stolen the link from the first page, I'm pretty certain there's a Shiny Celebi in there. It's not flawless, but if you're looking for a balanced nature, I'm guessing you're not planning to use it competetively. It's Lax (IIRC). -

Haha, damn all you people and your ROMs. I spent about 2 hours RNG-ing to get my Calm Mew . Think I had to hit the seed 16 times and advance Frame to ~240. I can't work out how to abuse ID/SID on roms, I just can't seem to get it to work at the moment . The second I do though, all sorted -

If I can trade a copy to someone who has access to it via *.sav, etc. I'm happy to send up my flawless Calm Mew. I can't do it myself, 'cause you can't offer it to IR-GTS because of the Classic Ribbon. -

I know not many of them were mine (the Gastly and the Charmander of this week). But so long as the nicknames don't get changed I really don't mind them being used however people like. And sorry to Bond if it felt like an accusation, it wasn't meant to be, was just looking for clarification. -

I received it via the GTS giveaway last week (twice in fact while trying to get all of the pokes). I can confirm that it says received location as Pokémon Ranger. EDIT: Scratch that, from the screenshot yours has: OT: Kaphotics OT #: 34401 The one received via giveaway has: OT: Mat OT #: 62971 -

Can we confirm where last week's Shiny Manaphy came from? I have been told that due to the method a Shiny Manaphy must be created (i.e. the PID created on another game, then traded to you), the Location should be "Link Trade" and not "Pokemon Ranger". I'm not claiming it is a hack or trying to point the finger, just relaying what I've been told. -

The Charmander's (Jack's) IVs are: 30/31/31/31/31/31. 30 Means that Salac Berry activates after 1 Substitute + Belly Drum. Just a note for the front page. Looking forward to downloading all of these in a bit Hope that we can get Magicgames' up and working -

Liking the halloween theme. Another good week. @BetaCrest If you need a hand coming to terms with the IV RNG-ing, drop me a message and I'll see if I can help out -
