  1. As an alternative you can download another program from here, The Pokemon Generator (Pokegen) which will read the .pkm file directly...

    http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?6424-Pokemon-Generator-%28Pokesav-replacement-for-Pokemon-editing%29

Having opened Pokegen and loaded the .pkm file, you select on the right of the box where you want the Pokemon to appear in your game (party of a PC box) and right click one of the blank buttons to put the Pokemon there. Press the Generate button at the bottom right and paste the generated code as a new code (right click the game name and select add new cheat) using the ARDS Manager on the PC with a suitable description. The code will be activated by using the Select button in the program when you are happy nothing you need will be overwritten by the new Pokemon.

That is my preferred method of creating AR code for a Pokemon in HG or SS.

  2. 1) I use Pokesave for Platinum for all my save transfers between the DS and my PC. You can save Pokemon from there to a .plk file which can be edited with Pokegen. You may need to download this

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HQBUHIM1

in case you get a message saying you can't load storage Pokemon

    2) I have been using Platinum for my PC saves and trading Pokemon direct from HG or SS.

    3) You will probably be OK with Pokegen and your Save editor. Using Pokesav may require the program in 1) as an extra.

    4) You can start editing as soon as you have access to a save. It won't matter if the Pokemon are not in the Local Pokedex. Unrecognised Pokemon will be sorted when you get the National.

  3. I would recommend a program called Pokegen from here for editing Pokemon. It reads .pkm files (which can be loaded into and saved out of Pokesav). The defailt codes for this program use the Select button to activate.

I am not sure which buttons are used from Pokesav. What is the first line of the code?

  4. There is a program here that can convert from .duc to .sav.

    http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?3751-ARDS-ME-%28%2A-DUC%29-to-%2A-SAV-%28and-back%29-Converter-%28Updated-to-Version-1-2-5%21%21%21%29&highlight=ardstosav

I have found that this worked fine for saves from Platinum, Diamond or Pearl that I have backed up myself on my DSi. If I use my DS with the ARDSi then it doesn't seem to work for some reason.

If you download files from Gamefaqs then the Shunyweb online converter definitely works on those to convert to Pokesav format. On Gamefaqs, some files are .sav files where the .sav has been changed to .duc so that the file could be added to Gamefaqs. Just renaming is OK for those.

I have yet to try this to any extent, but it is another downloadable offline converter program...

  5. Had a strange problem today. I initially loaded an AR code that "Riolu Aura Sphere Now" had created into Pokegen and got some odd looking information in the "Met" section. Next, I loaded a Pokemon (.pkm file) I created yesterday into Pokegen. Yesterday this successfully loaded into my game with an AR code. The information was fine. I generated an AR code from this Pokemon. I closed Pokegen, pasted the code into Notepad and reloaded Pokegen. I then used the generated code (less the 3 first lines and last line) to load into Pokegen and got a totally unrelated Pokemon in there.

I have had no problems up to now so I am wondering what is happening.

Edit... further test. Different .pkm file. Generated AR code in Party and PC and neither looked OK in the program. Tried loading pasted code with and without the "header lines and trailer" and neither worked. Put the code on the AR and the Pokemon looked perfect when loaded into the game.

  6. Pokegen will work with any .pkm files. I have never had a problem with it. Use Pokesav and use the Save option on the Pokemon to write it to a .pkm file that Pokegen can read.

I have had problems with Pokesav and converting to .sav files to read correctly. I presume that all of the information in Pokesav looks OK?

  7. Interesting...

I backed up my Platinum save on my DS (rather than my DSi), copied it across to the PC and could not convert it to a format that Pokesav could read. I swapped to the DSi and did exactly the same process and Pokesav could read the file correctly.

Has anyone else come across this problem?

I presume there is no way around the lack of a facility to back up an HG or SS save?

  8. All sorted then as far as the ARDSi is concerned. All working as it should.

What were you using to convert the game saves? I eventually got the Gamefaqs saves to work in Pokesav using the Supercard output format (at least it was a long description of formats and Supercard was one of them) for the conversion from .duc to .sav, that using the Shunyweb online file converter.

  9. I used the Load from Code input to solve another topic here a few days ago. Nice option.

Useful to create a .pkm file if someone posts an AR code for a Pokemon as I seem to be amassing a collection of .pkm files for future use. I did find a zip file with all 493 Pokemon as .pkm files but a lot were nicknamed. Nice little job to do when I am at a loose end!

  10. Not sure if the PID would be the same for the same nature, but here are mine...

    Diamond - 4160257049 - Quirky - 24,10,26,16,13,0

    Pearl - 1923276395 - Calm - 19,12,6,2,31,5

    Platinum - 3041255447 - Sassy - 4,22,5,7,10,1

  11. I just got a little lost in some of the steps the poster was going through to decrypt his file. Having the PP's in Pokegen (excellent program I must say) solves that problem. Thanks for all your work.

At some point it would be nice to be able to decrpyt a Pokemon from an AR code (seeing as the codes themselves are not encrypted, just the Pokemon data). I'll have to have a search around on the net and try to figure it out for myself, or at least try to come up with some more precise questions in the other topic...

  12. I just checked my Jirachis in Diamond, Pearl and Platinum. PID is different in each, generated I presume when you get the Pokemon, IV's are presumably allocated then as they are different in each game, unless they are nature dependant as mine have different natures.

Using Pokegen, I allowed the speed IV, initially 1 but raised to 5 for a PID to appear. This increase ensured a valid PID. The end result is a legal Jirachi and I am sure that no one would be any the wiser to the fact it was hacked to make it legal!!!

Just as an experiment as I have no desire to adjust my Pokemon.

  13. One bizarre thing about the DSi is that I use my PS3 for the AAC music files which is one of the formats that the PS3 uses to store music on its hard disk. I can put my CD in import it to AAC format and put it on my SD card for listening on the DSi. In that respect the PS3 can supply music to the PSPGo (MP3 format) or the DSi series (AAC format)!!

  14. I don't have an AR code for the Wonder Card, but I figured out the make-up of the All Routes open AR code. If I knew which routes you currently have open, I could give you a code which would open Yellow Forest in addition to your existing routes. I had to do that for my normal Heartgold Save as I missed the event, but wanted Yellow Forest, and did not want to have all the routes instantly available as I wanted to unlock them in the normal way.

  15. Excuse my lack of knowledge, but I got a little lost at the contents of this topic. OK, figuring the hex string for the moves was easy enough.

Let me say, I know hex. In years gone I did a lot of game memory hacking on the original Playstation with Gran Turismo 2 and even had some scripts on a Web site to generate Action Replay Codes (with their attendant encryption) from game data in "English". I know bit "functions" such as And (if bits are 1 on both arguments) and Or (1 on either) and I presume Xor (1 on either but not both?).

Is there somewhere with an example decryption taken at a slightly lower level that I may be able to follow. The reason I ask is that I like to put the PP values into Pokegen and currently have the moves in Excel, for ease, and given a decent insight into the workings of the Encryption, I could create a spreadsheet to maybe create an AR code from the Pokemon data which would automatically pick up the PP value. I do have the hex functions active in my Spreadsheet and do use them.

  16. I have an original PSP which as far as I am concerned is a better option than the Go. The main disadvantage of downloading games is that you can never get them at bargain prices as the price rarely drops. Also you are pretty much limited to your own Region for games.

Comapring with DSiXL? The Go would be more of a pocket device for portable gaming. For gaming in general the DSiXL would I suspect be too big to be comfortably portable. However there is a very wide choice of games and they work fine. My issue with PSP's is the analogue "stick" which I do not get along with, I presume the Go is better, but how good is it I wonder.

PSP's do have the advantage of being able to show movies (which do seem to work well and are easily watchable).

  17. I just tried some saves from Gamefaqs, after finally getting them to convert to .sav format. There was a save with some event Pokemon in it (Darkrai and Jirachi) but the Events button was not available to use. Similarly with a pretty full US save. As a comparison (and for my own interest) I tried my Platinum .sav file which has the Jirachi from the current event and in the Platinum version of Pokesav I could have edited the events.

I wonder if anyone is able to access "Events " on the HG/SS version of Pokesav.

  18. It comes up OK with the legality checker. Used Pokegen and there is not a huge amount of information there, other than Pokemon, the fact it was an egg and the moves it has, which I suppose you would expect with an egg. Did you get it in a Trade over Wifi?
