I want to hack myself a Kanto/Johto starter in my SS, but I'm not sure whether the 85h would be 18, like most of the "gifts" or 0C, like the actual starter you get from Professor Elm; I'd appreciate some confirmation. Thanks.

Alright, I think I've figured it out. Zapdos happens to have an 85h of 00 ;-p. Strange, since Mewtwo/the others don't, and he's not an event pokemon, but that's the solution.

Legal.exe doesn't check those values, I don't think. It also doesn't check abilities, ect. It checks PID/IV, gender, EVs, all that jazz.

Check the later pages; the last page in particular; There is a long post about how HGSS also uses 85h values, as well as the values for a few pokemon.

I'm pretty sure the 85h Value does apply to HG/SS; Lugia's is 07, Ho-Oh's is 09

Anyone have this information? It's not clear to me whether it's 00, 02, or 09.

Wonderful thread; I've a couple of questions. Should the 86h value for a pokemon hatched in HG/SS be 04, or 00? And does anyone know the 85h value for a Zapdos caught on Route 10?

The issue is the following: I pokesav'd Mewtwo, Ho-Oh and Lugia after catching them using HGSS v03. I used the PID/IV generator, the IV/Nature combos are valid for all three. Place met is 3002, Egg hatched is 0, 44h and 45h are both 00, 46h is the corresponding Hex value for the caught location (Cerulean Cave, Whirl Islands, Bell Tower), and 85h is 05 for Mewtwo, 09 for Ho-Oh and 07 for Lugia; all 86h's are 01. In game, they look good; and they all pass the legality checker: the Pokemon Info screen shows, for Mewtwo: Timid Nature Apr 14, 2010 Cerulean Cave Met at Level 70 However, when I use them to beat the elite for, the Hall of Fame reports that they were "Hatched@Cerulean Cave" or whatever, instead of caught. Anyone know what could be causing the problem? Thanks in advance.
