  1. Any chance to know the locations of all pokemons?

    Well, I've got my own Pokédex as a .docx file, so I might upload it! I wil do that soon, I guess.

    No problem about the fifth gym, my wife has stolen the laptop from meh so I haven't gotten to play the past few days so you have time, hmm... I've had Weavile before, Honchcrow doubles flying, maybe Absol or Tyranitar

    Ah, that's OK. I've got a lot of free time now, so I'm going to start working on the game immediately!

  2. I have to use the Vs Seeker!! will do a lil later tonight, right now really got a lot of work to do, but tonight i'm gonna try and beat the next 2 gym matches

    and I never lose to a gym...ever lol

    I'm debating my last pkmn to have in my team, so far got a water, fire, grass/ground, flying/poison, and a bug/steel and I don't like having double of a type and I have 1 slot open, which pkmn should I use?

    Maybe an Electric, or Psychic / Dark type? Think about Electivire (Electabuzz evo), Manectric, or what do you think about Honchkrow, Weavile, Absol or Tyranitar?

    Oh, and, please remind, the 5th Gym (Tsunami in this game) hasn't been edited yet! So after you defeated Maylene, you'll have to wait a while till I continued the progress.. Very sorry for that!

    I made the 3th Gym quite strong indeed -- I will lower all the Pokémon 1 Level. But still, Route 214 and following can be used for training ánd the VS Seeker can be used on already-defeaten trainers.

    Players shouldn't win every Gym on their first try, that would totally spoil everything, right? Yeah, that's what I think.

    Well, if you've got any more comments / ratings / etc. PLEASE tell them! I always like it to hear something about my hack, even if it is (fair and frank) criticism.

  4. UPDATE:

    The bug in Hearthome city (thought it was veilstone my bad) where it freezes happens only once, I think it is because of the contest trainer's rotom that you stop in the beginning of it, cuz I saved before entering the pokecenter there, went in and it froze, restarted and I was let in. Also Fantina's sprite is still showing the whole way until the battle

    Oh, I will test that freezing-thing in the next version. Thanks for telling me. Fantina's sprite can't be edited yet, very sorry for that; PPRE can't edit the Hearthome Gym yet...

    Nice team btw! I will work on the next version as soon as possible.

    Finally got my water pkmn, Krabby today

    Just wanted to check, you did edit how Scyther evolves....right??

    JUST edited that one! Scyther will evolve via Level in the new version that I'm going to upload in just some seconds.

    I started my own game via NO$gba and wrote down all the mistakes I found. I'm currently editing these mistakes. I played till the first Gym, so everything till 1st Gym should be 'bugless'!

    My team is;

    • Prinplup LV17
    • Shroomish LV15
    • Taillow LV14
    • Vulpix LV13

    And I'm currently battling against the first Gymleader. You can see you catch a wide variety of Pokémon, even at the beginning of the game.

    I will upload Version 1.1 as soon as possible and it will contain;

    • A lot more Pokémon that used to evolve with a Stone, by Trading, etc. will evolve by Level (as you can see in the first post)
    • Bug-test till the First Gym, so everything till the 1st Gym will be 'bugless'. (Sprites / text / weird tokens / etc.) *
    • Edited Wayward Cave.

    Version 1.2 will be uploaded around the next weekend and it will contain;

    • All Pokémon that used to evolve with a Stone, by Trading, etc. will evolve by Level (as you can see in the first post)
    • Bug-test till the Second Gym, so everything till the 2nd Gym will be 'bugless'. (Sprites / text / weird tokens / etc.) *
    • Edit Route 213 (with other words, continue the progress).

    * Some maps, as stated in the first post, cannot be edited with PPRE yet. These will be edited as soon as possible.

Running through again, My team is now Turtwig, Gowlithe, Zubat and just caught Scyther... well I'm at Grotle, Golbat, Scyther and Growlithe, about to face the 2nd gym again, got a nice shot of teh first gym leader will upload most likely tomorrow, and probably won't get to play today, I got a wedding to go to =\

    Alright! Currently working on some updates.

    • Edited the Oreburgh mistake you told me, about Cynthia.
    • Edited some more text and edited the storyline a bit.

    Ah, Zubat in your Team - I guess it feels better to use Zubat in your Team now; in DPP, you find Zubat everywhere.. Now, it's just as rare as any other Pokémon!

    I'm going to work on the new patch this evening. I will first try to delete the bugs, like the wrong sprites etc.

    I'm glad the evolution is working!

    Yeah, I wanted to remove the HM's, but then came to the conclusion that that wouldn't work.. You'll need the HM Move Surf anyway... I wasn't able to edit the Route with Defog either, so the Fog has to stay, as well as the move Defog..

    When you continue playing the game, maybe you could make some more screenshots? That would be awesome!

    Well alright, I'll try to keep the game a bit challenging / difficult, but I think some people might already have trouble with it.. But I'm glad the first 3 Gyms can be defeated with ease, I don't want the game to start too hard. But yeah, the VS Seeker, I think it really helps with retraining.

    My questions to you:

    • Did you evolve Growlith to Arcanine at level 38? (Because that's the new evolution way, though the Evolution Stones can still be used)
    • Did you defeat the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Gym on the first challenge? Or did you had to retrain / rebattle them?
    • Have you ever battled a Trainer again (with the VS Seeker)?
    • Do you actually like the game so far? Any tips to improve (excl. removing the bugs)? =D

    Thanks A TON for playing, will upload a better version as soon as possible. Will first delete some bugs, then I'll continue with the Routes etc.

    That's true! The 2nd Gymleader yet has to be edited, because it didn't work in PPRE... But, I think it will work in an earlier version of PPRE. Just like the Jupiter btw, so that will be edited in a next version.

    It really freezed? Wow. That's weird. I'm very sorry for that, NO idea why that happened though.. Will check on that later.

    But, you're already in Veilstone City?! That's great. I haven't edited any further yet, I'm sorry. Route 214 has been edited, though.

    I'm really looking forward to the screenshots.

    I'm busy at the moment, but I'll edit some more tomorrow!

    Could you tell me more, like, did you had any trouble with the game so far (the difficulty)? And what is your team?

  10. I used xdelta but I also used a batch file that was created for Platinum Enhanced edition, basically its set up to use a patch named 1.5 and a rom named clean.nds... but its working great, do you want screenshots that would spoil the changes you have made?

    I don't really mind about that, I mean--I have to show some changes, right?

    Some new-placed Trainers, new Wild Pokémon etc. would be nice too. =)

  11. Had to use a different patching method, don't know if that affected anything but the opening whenever you first bump into your rival where it states "Thud" there is an error there, just random filling around the "Thud" not too major

    also found when your in your rivals room has some looks like Japanese letters after where it states your rival's name

    That is true. I thought I already edited that, but it will be out in the next Bèta Version. I forgot to upload the newest text narc file... But thanks for telling!

    Could you tell me more about your patching way, though? Then I'll add a new RAR file with your way of patching.

    On another note the text editing is very nice, fits more than having Rowan say his normal initial intro

    With the screenshots I'll try not to have too many things that spoil the differences in there, but already from the changes it makes it feel like a completely different game

    Yes, I did that on purpose! A lot of trainers changed Pokémon, or even their Trainer Class + sprite!

    also have you thought about changing movesets?

    Also maybe take out the part where you have to ask the clowns a ? for the Poketch

    Thanks for the tip. I already changed some movesets, but only these who didn't had a real moveset (like the Pokémon that you have to evolve with an Evolution Stone).

    Noticed that you already know the bugs that I've mentioned, also so you know the 1st Rival battle bug has been fixed, he starts w/ Pikachu only

    Found 1. when your leaving Oreburgh after beating the gym, Cynthia stops you but its your rival's name there

  12. Anyone who wants to help with team ideas can just post them here as they complete them. We're not really dividing up tasks here, just post them if/when you make them.

    But be warned: Any "standard" movesets or anything copied from places like smogon will be discarded immediately.

    I'll edit this post later when I have time, to add the movesets.

    I'll create the movesets from scratch and create some decent teams (like based on a certain move, Rain Dance for example). Any similarities with smogon are coincidence.

    A lot of Trainer names are like ??????. It would be nice if you'd report some of them, so I know which one are buggy. Also, some variable names (like the Hero and Rival name) have weird tokens behind them. Please tell them where you find them!

    Thanks a lot for playing. The further you go, the more new things you'll encounter. Next version hopefully will contain some (new) edited sprites.

    The Bèta Version can be DOWNLOADED HERE or via the (same) link in the first post.

    Please read the included Readme so you know how to patch.

    If there's a newer version of the game, you can STILL play with the same save file! So please Bèta test. Thanks a lot in advance.

    If you play(ed) it, I'd love it if someone is able to:

    • make any screenshots
    • tell me what you like
    • tell me what you don't like (and give tips on how to improve)
    • tell me about bugs (that I don't know of yet, according to my bug list)

  15. Alpha / SCV, I don't want to hurry you, I just want to tell you about another Bug I found.

    Please relax and try solving this for a future release! You're both doing a great job, as this is the best Pokémon Rom Editing Tool I've seen so far.

    When editing a random Text, like the text for Jubilife City, you sometimes come across variable names like \v0103\w0002\. This variable, for example, represents the Hero or Heroine's name. But, when you edit the Jubilife text and save the rom afterwards, the variable will be changed. It changes into something like: \v0103\w0002\z0001◇ぁ\x0001◇ぁ\x0001◇ぁ\x0001◇ぁ\x0001\x0000. Now, when you play the game and go to Jubilife, and a NPC says your name, it will be something like: Dawn*&* or Lucas*&&!*. So there are all kinds of weird.. tokens behind them.

    I hope this explanation was accurate enough. My question is: are you able to solve this?

    Another solution is to let PPRE translate the variable into something like 'HERONAME', so you can use that new variable. The Script System is doing the same thing; it translates 0034 into Closemsgonkeypress, for example.

  16. PPRE will only handle Gen IV+ Games. There is an abundant amount of tools available for GBA games.

    And for those who were waiting for the next release .11a is available. That's the version with Script Error support and Level-up Move editing.

    Also, I'm getting some errors with Trainer Names. Everytime I change one, they change into ????????????? in the game itself.

    Oh, and, another 'bug': when I edit the Texts, things like \100v3\v0013\ and so on, who represent the Hero or Rival name, are getting buggy. Weird tokens are added behind them when I edit the map, so \100v3\v0013\ becomes something like \100v3\v0013\001v\001v\ or something like that.

    If you don't understand what I mean, I'll try to describe it better.

  17. Question 2: Those buggy maps have script errors. Any map with a script error so far automatically crashes that map. (You shouldn't try to save on those maps). I've already built a new error handling system which will be implemented next release.

    That's great! Will I be able to edit the text + overworld sprites of that (currently crashing) map, then?

    • Some more Bugs have been found.
    • I've added 'CURRENTLY UNABLE TO EDIT THE FOLLOWING BUGS' part, with new-found bugs that cannot be solved at the moment, but for sure in the nearby future.

    EDIT: You now get the National Dex at the beginning of the game. That makes the game even more special and fun to play!
