The Pokémon Global Link is currently undergoing maintenance. If you try to use it, it will fail. 

The maintenance started at midnight November 10 2017, and it will last until midnight 17 November 2017 (UTC). The Pokémon Company International has taken it offline to update it for the official release of Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon. 

It seems that after the update it will work with both Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon, as well as with Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. Right now the Global Link features won't work for either Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, this includes Game Sync as well as Rating Battles.

After the maintenance is done, the new games will officially be released, in the meantime be sure to stay offline or else you will more than likely get banned like last year.

For all of you current or aspiring Nintendo Switch hackers, Team ReSwitched has released some previously-private tools, such as an exploitation toolkit and a sysmodule emulator. None of this is currently usable by the public, but this represents significant progress towards opening the Nintendo Switch for future enhancements, like the save and ROM editing we all enjoy on the 3DS.

An update for the popular app that transfers your Pokémon from Generation 5 games and Virtual Console: Generation 1 games has gone live!
Preliminary reports indicate that for VC Gen 1 transfers, the erroneous shiny calculation has been rectified, and there are changes to gender determination.

We recently obtained a Mystery Mew distribution cartridge.  It is the original distribution cart containing the event MYSTRY Mew 06930!
This Mew was distributed as a perk for attending Geoffrey the Giraffe's Birthday Party at Toys”R”Us stores across the USA on September 30, 2006, from 12 PM to 3 PM.

This particular cartridge is important because it contains a MYSTRY Mew, which we did not have before.
We are asking the community to help pay for this acquisition since the auction was very expensive.  After fees, the cartridge cost us a whopping $900!  Please help us by donating to Deoxyz, who got this cartridge on credit.

In Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon, there's a place in Lively Town called the Meowth Theater where you can record yourself playing through a dungeon. Films that are saved locally can be watched later or shared online. Since the games were released, the online service for sharing films has been discontinued. However, so has the entire theater service, if you install the latest update. If you try talking to Meowth in town, you'll be greeted with this dialog:

 Welcomeow to Meowth Theatrer, Meowever...

You won't be able to watch any films anymore.

This Meowth Theater shutdown extends outside the game itself, however. It has been removed from the official character list.

Restoring the Meowth Theater to the game is as simple as uninstalling the update. It remains fully functional, except that films can no longer be shared. It is currently unknown if anything else has changed in the update, so there is no compelling reason to install this update.

Citra 3DS is a work-in-progress emulator for 3DS games. Its compatibility has been steadily improving for years, but many games, including the 3DS Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games, were unplayable. Recent updates have made Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity and Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon playable at full speed, even when using higher-than-normal resolutions. This will no doubt be useful for users, being able to play games with graphics that are better than what can be displayed on the 3DS, and game modders, being able to test mods without constantly having to copy files to SD cards.

I played through the intro of Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon with few problems, and I've made an album containing screenshots along the way, showing what it looks like when the internal resolution is 4 times greater than the 3DS's resolution (for a total of 1600x960).

The Official Pokémon Pokémon YouTube Channel has released a new trailer for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, teasing that "new secrets of the Alola region will be revealed" and showing a "new look for our heros". It also provides a few details about the newest Lycanrock form. Its ability is Tough Claws, and it can learn Accelerock and Counter. Only certain Rockruff can evolve into it, and more details will be revealed soon.

NTRBootHax, formerly known as MagnetHax, has been released for public usage.
Earlier this year, with a combined usage of a Magnet and a NDS Flashcart, @SciresM demonstrated in a video that he gained early access to bootrom of the 3DS.
This method is also said to be able to salvage 3DSs' from the hell, that made them effectively a brick.
 

A magnet is only required for models that can be "flipped shut"; 2DS (non-XL) doesn't require this.
Possibly due to an oversight by programmers/hardware developers, the 3DS checks to see if Start+Select+X is held down, and if the shell is closed.
If so, the 3DS will attempt to boot from an NDS cartridge from the bootrom (with bootrom access).
Hence, the purpose of the magnet is enable a state that the 3DS believes that the shell is closed.

With this hax, it'll allow CFW installation, enabling the use of save editors like PKHeX and ROM hacks.

Pokémon GO Fest is due to begin today, July 22, 2017, at 10am, CDT and will wrap-up at 7pm.  This event is the most
anticipated one to happen since Pokémon Go’s launch, which was just over a year ago.  There is so much hype behind GO Fest
because we could potentially encounter and catch the first Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon GO.  It will require teamwork
from Trainers all across the World and especially from those attending the localized event in Chicago’s Grant Park for a
successful outcome.

There are three phases to this event.  During Phase 1: Catch Challenge, there will be three Challenge Windows.
The first will be at 11am-11:30am, and then 1pm-1:30pm and finally 3pm-3:30pm.  Within these Challenge Windows,
Trainers in attendance at Grant park will try to catch specific Pokémon-types (e.g., Fire, Water, Grass, Electric) in order
to unlock special perks for everyone else that is concurrently catching as many Pokémon as possible around the global.
The in-game perks vary from an extra Candy bonus, XP bonus, Stardust bonus, faster egg hatching and so on.

Overall, the goal is to catch as many Pokémon as humanly possible within the Challenge Windows for two reasons.
One, is to increase the duration of these perks; a Bronze Reward will extend a perks duration by 24 hours and a Silver Reward
will extend a perks duration by 48 hours. The second and most important reason to participate is to collectively catch
enough Pokémon to receive the Gold Reward.  If Gold tier is achieved, it will unlock Phase 2: Mystery Challenge, in Grant Park.

After a successful Phase 1, a heavy burden will then fall upon the Trainers in Grant Park. From 6pm to 7pm CDT a new
Challenge Window will open causing a Legendary Pokémon to spawn in the game’s first ever Legendary Raid Battle.
If the Trainers actually defeat the Legendary Pokémon, the rest of the world will be rewarded with Phase 3: Global Reward.
Legendary Raids will begin popping up worldwide the day after Pokémon GO Fest.  Sources say that the Global Reward
Challenge Window will be from July 23 to July 24, 2017.

Update: Words from Niantic regarding today's "technical issues"

From everyone at Niantic, we apologize to all of the Trainers who came out to Pokémon GO Fest today. Although we were able to solve many of the technical issues, we were not able to offer every attendee a great experience.

Niantic is taking the following steps immediately:

• All registered attendees will soon receive an email with instructions on how to receive a full refund for the cost of their ticket. These instructions will be sent to the email addresses associated with your Pokémon GO account.
• All registered attendees will receive $100 in PokéCoins in their Pokémon GO account.
• Special Pokémon, Eggs, and check-in PokéStops appearing during Pokémon GO Fest have had their range increased to a two mile radius surrounding Grant Park through Monday morning, July 24. These Pokémon and Eggs will only be visible to Pokémon GO Fest attendees who validated the QR code they received when they entered Pokémon GO Fest. Attendees who were unable to validate their QR code during the event can do so through the special PokéStops through Monday morning.
• All registered attendees will have the Legendary Pokémon, Lugia, added to their account.

7SPOT is a Wi-Fi service that is hosted throughout multiple Seven & i Group stores all over Japan (e.g., 7-Eleven). 
Aside from it’s internet allowance, 7SPOT sporadically gives consumers special gifts. 
As of July 11, 2017, players can use the Nintendo Zone app to receive serial codes to obtain the Pokémon Mew for use inside Pokémon Sun and Moon games.

Midday on July 10, 2017, Wonder Card ID: 238 -２０ＴＨ☆ Mew was uploaded to the Wonder Card servers in preparation for the 7SPOT event.
Naturally, this WC was added to our Event Gallery as soon as it was available.
This led to the first report from one of our users that this event contained an invalid OT.

Before the official release of WCID 0238, it was revealed that after trading this ２０ＴＨ☆ Mew, the Original Trainer (OT) would change
from “２０ＴＨ☆” to the version name and save language of the 7th generation game in which the Mew was received. 
Check out the visual below in the spoiler, for examples of this occurrence.

This type of “censorship” in where a Pokémon’s OT and/or nickname can be legally changed (upon transfer or trade) and has been around for quite some time.
Typically, it affects OT and nicknames that contain profanity and/or character-symbol discrepancies.  It is also worth noting that there were previous Event-Pokémon
that had invalid OTs as well. One of our Event Contributors, Kirzi, has posted about this in the past and has provided a list of those events.

Shortly after the event started, which was at 7am (Japan Standard Time), theSLAYER found proof that, in fact, players were receiving the invalid 238 - ２０ＴＨ☆ Mew
and it wasn’t until nine hours after the event started that the Wonder Card ID was changed in the server from 238 - ２０ＴＨ☆ Mew to 238 -２０ＴＨ Mew.

Closely following the situation, theSLAYER found proof that the fixed Wonder Card had been successfully redeemed by multiple players shortly after its release.
(And thanks to our dedicated Contributors as well for uploading their Wonder Card files!)
However, approximately 30 minutes after the fixed Wonder Card had replaced the Invalid one, another WCID appeared on the servers, WCID 247 - ２０ＴＨ Mew!

There is much speculation around this third Wonder Card and why it appeared on the servers after the fixed 238 was re-uploaded and then distributed again.

Pokémon GO’s latest entry on their website titled, Happy Birthday, Pokémon GO! was posted July, 6 2017 in honor of the app’s first birthday.

Cap Pikachu - Sun & Moon
As of June 28, 2017, all of the Cap Pikachu available to Pokemon Sun & Moon have been released!  Back in March, the hype of these commemorative events was announced as a companion to the release of Pokémon the Movie 20: I choose you!  Upon pre-ordering a ticket for the movie, you were given a region-locked serial code to claim one of the six Cap Pikachu all of which are holding Pikashunium-Z.  The date that you pre-ordered your ticket determined which variant of the event you would receive. Pre-order distribution began April 15, 2017, with the Original Cap Pikachu and will conclude with the Alola Cap Pikachu on July 17, 2017, events are expected to repeat.

On June 4^th, developers AuroraWright and TuxSH, pushed Luma3DS v8.0 to AuroraWright’s GitHub page. This version debuts Rosalina, a “custom system module” for Luma3DS.

There are many new features injected in to the CFW this time.  For example, The Rosalina menu.  At first glance, you see: Process list, Process patches menu, Take a screenshot, New 3DS menu, Debugger options, Miscellaneous options and Credits.  Going into each category, you’ll find specific tasks and features, all of which are described on the project’s official GitHub page, as well as the complete change log for version 8.0.

The Pokémon Company recently recruited 10,000 individuals in order to alpha test their newest mobile game, PokéLand.   According to pokeland.jp, participants are required to use a device running Android version 4.4 KitKat or higher to play.  However, it is known that the game will function on slightly younger versions of the operating system.  The duration of the alpha testing is from May 31^st to June 9^th.  PokéLand’s official Twitter account suggests the possibility of adding even more testers within the next few days.

In PokéLand, you start your journey on an island with your first partner, Rattata.  While it walks up a one-way path, multiple wild Pokémon appear.  The goal of each level is to defeat all of the wild Pokémon while making your way to the end of the path.  Enemies drop currency and sometimes become captured in Pokéballs, which you can then use as your new partner in subsequent levels. When you do reach the end, you’ll have to defeat a Totem-like Pokémon. In return, you’ll get rewarded with a treasure chest that may contain currency, diamonds, gears or even a Pokémon.
