LE CURRENT YEAR EDIT: Please just use Mega Pidgeot if you want to use it as a special attacker! It was meant for that!

Brave Bird: A Pidgeot Warstory

We all know Pidgeot is a subpar Pokemon when it comes to competitive battling. But somehow, I was able to pull two Pidgeot "sweeps" that day. Okay, it may not be impressive to anyone else, but I found it quite amusing, so I decided to share. There are two battles in it... but yeah, nothing all that interesting unless you just want to read about Pidgeot wreaking havoc.

First Battle

Rules:

Evasion Clause, Extended Game, OHKO Clause, Sleep Clause, Timed Battle

Pokemon: (In order of appearance)

Wraith89

exeggutor.gifrhyperior.gifgyarados.gifmachamp.gifpidgeot.gif

Sabeta

gardevoir.gifgliscor.gifswampert.giftyranitar.gifcelebi.gifheatran.gif

exeggutor.gif vs gardevoir.gif

sabeta sent out Gardevoir (lvl 100 Gardevoir ?).

Wraith89 sent out Exeggutor (lvl 100 Exeggutor ?).

Gardevoir traced Exeggutor's Chlorophyll!

Wraith89: Warning this is a gimmick

sabeta: GL

Gardevoir used Trick.

Gardevoir obtained Focus Sash!

Exeggutor obtained Choice Scarf!

Exeggutor used Trick Room.

Exeggutor twisted the dimensions!

---

Okay, I knew this was a bad move to start with. I kind of knew Sabeta's Gardevoir had Trick... and what I feared the most did indeed occur. He used Trick, I used Trick Room. Now with a handicapped Exeggutor, it does not forebode a good sign of what's to come.

rhyperior.gif vs gardevoir.gif

sabeta: Thanks for telling me it's trick room.

Wraith89: np

Wraith89: It's not really TR though

Wraith89 switched in Rhyperior (lvl 100 Rhyperior ?).

Gardevoir used Focus Blast.

Gardevoir's attack missed!

---

Huh? He was really going to use Focus Blast on Exeggutor? Or was it good prediction? No idea, but either way, thank God it missed, or else it would HURT Rhyperior.

rhyperior.gif vs gardevoir.gif

Rhyperior used Megahorn.

It's super effective!

Gardevoir lost 180% of its health.

Gardevoir hung on using its Focus Sash!

Rhyperior lost 10% of its health.

Gardevoir used Focus Blast.

It's super effective!

Rhyperior lost 62% of its health.

---

Another reason why that Trick was a really good move on Sabeta's part was because it gave him a free Focus Sash. Well played... and I used a risky Megahorn to subdue the lovely guardian Pokemon (or was it for safe "prediction" in case he predicts EQ and switches out?). She hangs onto the Sash and survives, while denting me with a Focus Blast, chipping off over half of Rhyperior's health. If I don't do anything, the Bastille will fall!

rhyperior.gif vs gardevoir.gif

Rhyperior used Earthquake.

Gardevoir lost 111% of its health.

sabeta's Gardevoir fainted.

Rhyperior lost 10% of its health.

---

And now I finish off the lovely guardian... but nearly overkill from the second most powerful Earthquake in game. Farewell.

6-5

rhyperior.gif vs gliscor.gif

Wraith89: It's quite a familiar theme

sabeta switched in Gliscor (lvl 100 Gliscor ?).

Rhyperior used Stone Edge.

Gliscor lost 47% of its health.

Rhyperior lost 10% of its health.

Gliscor used Swords Dance.

Gliscor's attack was sharply raised.

The twisted dimensions returned to normal!

Gliscor's leftovers restored its health a little!

Gliscor restored 6% of its health.

---

Oh great, it's Gliscor. Hoping for Stone Edge to connect... and it actually did! But the scorpion uses Swords Dance... which is not a good sign at all. If he sets up completely, I'm a goner. Oh, and Trick Room runs out. Not cool :/

rhyperior.gif vs gliscor.gif

Gliscor used Roost.

Gliscor restored 50% of its health.

Rhyperior used Stone Edge.

It's not very effective...

A critical hit!

Gliscor lost 52% of its health.

Rhyperior lost 10% of its health.

Wraith89's Rhyperior fainted.

Gliscor's leftovers restored its health a little!

Gliscor restored 6% of its health.

---

Darn it, now that Trick Room ran out, Stone Edge only hits half as effective, as Gliscor removes its flying type for that turn and becomes pure Ground, resisting any rock move. Thankfully, it scores a critical hit, but alas, Life Orb takes the toll and the Bastille falls!

5-5

gyarados.gif vs gliscor.gif

Wraith89 switched in Gyarados (lvl 100 Gyarados ?).

Gyarados's intimidate cut Gliscor's attack!

Gyarados used Dragon Dance.

Gyarados's attack was raised.

Gyarados's speed was raised.

Gliscor used Aerial Ace.

Gyarados lost 36% of its health.

Gliscor's leftovers restored its health a little!

Gliscor restored 6% of its health.

---

Of course, I send in one of Gliscor's worst enemies, the feared Leviathan Gyarados! With Intimidate, that + 2 on the scorpion falls down to + 1, making STAB Aerial Ace hardly do any damage to it. Gyarados sets up with impunity.

gyarados.gif vs gliscor.gif

Gyarados used Waterfall.

It's super effective!

Gliscor lost 76% of its health.

sabeta's Gliscor fainted.

---

And Gliscor falls from a single + 1 STAB Waterfall!

5-4

gyarados.gif vs swampert.gif

sabeta switched in Swampert (lvl 100 Swampert ?).

Gyarados used Waterfall.

Swampert lost 44% of its health.

Swampert used Ice Beam.

Gyarados lost 17% of its health.

---

That 76% on Gliscor should have told me that I should set up Dragon Dance at this turn instead of attacking. 44% on Swampert just isn't enough... but then again, that Swampert may have had Roar, so I did not set up. Anyways, it tries to attack Gyarados with Ice Beam, dealing a paaltry 17% damage. At least it did not freeze.

gyarados.gif vs swampert.gif

Gyarados used Waterfall.

Swampert lost 42% of its health.

Swampert used Stealth Rock.

Pointed stones float in the air around the foe's team!

---

Here I was hoping for a 20% flinch chance to occur (which never happens unless the enemy has a Gyarados), and Swampert sets up free rocks. Ah well.

gyarados.gif vs swampert.gif

sabeta: Gah, DDos weak.

Wraith89: Sorry

Wraith89: was talking with my mother

Gyarados used Waterfall.

Swampert lost 37% of its health.

sabeta's Swampert fainted.

---

I was away from the keyboard for a while (explaining what that comment was about). And I finish off the mud fish... although it was quite the formidable opponent.

5-3

gyarados.gif vs tyranitar.gif

sabeta switched in Tyranitar (lvl 100 Tyranitar ?).

Tyranitar's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!

A sandstorm brewed!

Gyarados used Waterfall.

It's super effective!

Tyranitar lost 85% of its health.

Tyranitar used Crunch.

Gyarados lost 79% of its health.

Wraith89's Gyarados fainted.

The sandstorm rages.

---

Ha ha... ouch. I guess the Leviathan met its end. I kept thinking to myself I should have set up more than 1 DD, but what could I do? Either way, it severely weakened Tyranitar, which is just fine. But 79% from an unboosted Crunch while I dealt 85% from a boosted Waterfall which was super effective and STAB'd? Goodness gracious! Or is it Choice Banded? I cannot tell either way...

4-3

machamp.gif vs celebi.gif

Wraith89 switched in Machamp (lvl 100 Machamp ?).

Pointed stones dug into Machamp.

Machamp lost 6% of its health.

sabeta switched in Celebi (lvl 100 Celebi).

Machamp used Payback.

It's super effective!

Celebi lost 46% of its health.

The sandstorm rages.

Celebi is buffetted by the sandstorm!

Celebi lost 6% of its health.

Machamp is buffetted by the sandstorm!

Machamp lost 6% of its health.

Celebi's leftovers restored its health a little!

Celebi restored 6% of its health.

Machamp's leftovers restored its health a little!

Machamp restored 6% of its health.

---

I send in Tyranitar's greatest fear, Machamp. I knew he'd switch so I decided to land a Payback on its switch-in, whom I thought would be a ghost. Heh, but it's Celebi! Either way, pretty cool, but yikes! A 100 BP Payback only managed a 46%? That celery is broken, no doubt about that. But if Tyranitar stayed in (in retrospect, I think it was locked into Crunch), Crunch wouldn't have dealt much anyways and I'd confuse the switch-in if it wasn't a ghost. Yeah, too many theorymoning here.

machamp.gif vs celebi.gif

Celebi used Leech Seed.

Machamp was seeded!

Machamp used Dynamicpunch.

It's not very effective...

Celebi lost 19% of its health.

Celebi became confused!

Machamp's health was sapped by leech seed!

Machamp lost 12% of its health.

Celebi regained health!

Celebi restored 12% of its health.

---

I decide to land a confusion on Celebi, as I didn't think Psychic would OHKO it anyhow. But instead it decides to leech seed. Wonderful... before I become a healing source, I'm going to switch out.

pidgeot.gif vs celebi.gif

Wraith89 switched in Pidgeot (lvl 100 Pidgeot ?).

Pointed stones dug into Pidgeot.

Pidgeot lost 25% of its health.

Celebi is confused!

It hurt itself in its confusion!

Celebi lost 6% of its health.

The sandstorm rages.

Pidgeot is buffetted by the sandstorm!

Pidgeot lost 6% of its health.

Celebi is buffetted by the sandstorm!

Celebi lost 6% of its health.

Celebi's leftovers restored its health a little!

Celebi restored 6% of its health.

---

Confusion really helped here. Thank goodness Pidgeot made a safe switch-in.

pidgeot.gif vs heatran.gif

sabeta switched in Heatran (lvl 100 Heatran ?).

Pidgeot used Agility.

Pidgeot's speed was sharply raised.

The sandstorm rages.

Pidgeot is buffetted by the sandstorm!

Pidgeot lost 6% of its health.

---

Oh no! It's the lava monster of doom! I was hoping I could set up Agility without a problem... and he actually switched out! I guess that helps. Now it's time to unleash the bird's true powers. Hmmm... Air Slash, Heat Wave... Hidden Power? Which Hidden Power is this one?

pidgeot.gif vs heatran.gif

Pidgeot used Hidden Power.

It's super effective!

Heatran lost 81% of its health.

Pidgeot lost 10% of its health.

Heatran used Substitute.

But it failed!

The sandstorm rages.

Pidgeot is buffetted by the sandstorm!

Pidgeot lost 6% of its health.

Heatran's leftovers restored its health a little!

Heatran restored 6% of its health.

---

Lo and behold! It was Hidden Power Ground! Life orb HP Ground still wasn't enough to OHKO the beast, but still laid a huge dent. It tries to Substitute but fails. Score!

pidgeot.gif vs heatran.gif

Pidgeot used Hidden Power.

It's super effective!

Heatran lost 92% of its health.

sabeta's Heatran fainted.

Pidgeot lost 10% of its health.

The sandstorm rages.

Pidgeot is buffetted by the sandstorm!

Pidgeot lost 6% of its health.

---

Of course, you land 92% on the finishing blow. Whatever... lava monster down!

4-2

pidgeot.gif vs celebi.gif

Wraith89: Sorry :(

sabeta switched in Celebi (lvl 100 Celebi).

Pidgeot used Air Slash.

It's super effective!

Celebi lost 51% of its health.

sabeta's Celebi fainted.

Pidgeot lost 10% of its health.

The sandstorm rages.

Pidgeot is buffetted by the sandstorm!

Pidgeot lost 6% of its health.

---

The celery comes back in... only to take a STAB Air Slash in its face. But 51% with STAB and Life Orb? Yes, that dryad is really bulky. It just refuses to die... but it still fainted because it was weakened.

4-1

pidgeot.gif vs tyranitar.gif

sabeta switched in Tyranitar (lvl 100 Tyranitar ?).

Tyranitar's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!

Pidgeot used Hidden Power.

It's super effective!

Tyranitar lost 26% of its health.

sabeta's Tyranitar fainted.

Wraith89 wins!

That Tyranitar was seriously weakened from its encounter with Gyarados... and Hidden Power Ground manages... 26%... ewww. But oh well... that was cool. I couldn't believe this bird actually did it! Good game Sabeta...

4-0

Wraith89: Good game

sabeta: >.>

Wraith89: It's Blue's team from HGSS

sabeta: New team sucks.

Wraith89: Which is why I said gimmick :/

sabeta: Well it did the job.

Wraith89: But hey, you made me happy... Pidgeot did its job :o

Wraith89: And I rant a lot about Pidgeot's uselessness

sabeta: Ah well.

sabeta: ~Main~

sabeta has left the room.

Second Battle

Rules:

Evasion Clause, Extended Game, OHKO Clause, Sleep Clause, Timed Battle

Pokemon: (In order of appearance)

Wraith89

exeggutor.gifmachamp.gifgyarados.gifpidgeot.gifarcanine.gifrhyperior.gif

Knucklez

azelf.gifheatran.gifbreloom.gifgyarados.gifsnorlax.gifgengar.gif

exeggutor.gif v azelf.gif

Knucklez sent out Azelf (lvl 100 Azelf).

Wraith89 sent out Exeggutor (lvl 100 Exeggutor ?).

Knucklez: Good luck!

wraith89: Likewise

Azelf used Flamethrower.

It's super effective!

Exeggutor lost 115% of its health.

Exeggutor hung on using its Focus Sash!

Azelf lost 10% of its health.

Exeggutor used Trick Room.

Exeggutor twisted the dimensions!

---

Thank God burn hax did not land on it. Now I expected Azelf to switch out or something, since Exeggutor just set up a Trick Room, which would be detrimental. I couldn't blow up just yet... I remember I'm too predictable with that, so I save it up and do something else instead.

exeggutor.gif v heatran.gif

Knucklez switched in Heatran (lvl 100 Heatran ?).

Exeggutor used Sleep Powder.

Exeggutor's attack missed!

---

Yep, I knew he'd bring out an explosion resistant or immune Pokemon... so I thought I'd give it a little surprise. Unfortunately it misses... thus wasting another turn of Trick Room. Usually with Exeggutor I cannot land more than one Trick Room per battle... so it is quite crucial I use the most out of it.

exeggutor.gif v heatran.gif

Wraith89: ewww

Wraith89: lol

Knucklez: Haha

Exeggutor used Sleep Powder.

Heatran fell asleep!

Heatran is fast asleep!

---

The second Sleep Powder lands, which I'm really grateful for. Time to take down the beast from inferno!

machamp.gif v heatran.gif

Wraith89 switched in Machamp (lvl 100 Machamp ?).

Heatran woke up!

Heatran used Magma Storm.

Machamp lost 55% of its health.

Machamp was trapped in a vortex!!

Machamp's leftovers restored its health a little!

Machamp restored 6% of its health.

Machamp is hurt by Magma Storm!

Machamp lost 6% of its health.

---

Oh... oh my! Well, that was pleasant. My second Sleep Powder that landed... only lasted a turn. Ha ha. And Heatran's STAB Magma Storm (equivalent power to Fire Blast!) just hit Machamp with amazing magnitude. And I forgot Machamp had No Guard, so yeah, it was supposed to hit.

machamp.gif v heatran.gif

Wraith89: :(

Knucklez: What?

Wraith89: You woke up in one turn

Wraith89: and hit me with a 70% accurate move

Wraith89: Talk about amazing luck

Knucklez: Haha sorry

Wraith89: Nah it's fine

Knucklez: I didnt know

Machamp used Dynamicpunch.

It's super effective!

Heatran lost 110% of its health.

Knucklez's Heatran fainted.

The twisted dimensions returned to normal!

Machamp's leftovers restored its health a little!

Machamp restored 6% of its health.

Machamp is hurt by Magma Storm!

Machamp lost 6% of its health.

---

Bah, just get out of here... that really hurt. Heatran is down..... and so is my Trick Room effect. Drats.

6-5

machamp.gif v azelf.gif

Wraith89: It was funny

Knucklez switched in Azelf (lvl 100 Azelf).

Azelf used Psychic.

It's super effective!

Machamp lost 101% of its health.

Wraith89's Machamp fainted.

Azelf lost 10% of its health.

---

At this rate Machamp is KO fodder. Whatever, just let Azelf drain its health from Life Orb.

5-5

gyarados.gif v breloom.gif

Wraith89 switched in Gyarados (lvl 100 Gyarados ?).

Gyarados's intimidate cut Azelf's attack!

Knucklez switched in Breloom (lvl 100 Breloom ?).

Wraith89 switched in Exeggutor (lvl 100 Exeggutor ?).

Breloom was badly poisoned!

---

Breloom... yeah, if that thing puts my Gyarados to sleep, I'm a goner. I switch in my KO fodder with 1 HP, Exeggutor, to take the hit.

exeggutor.gif v breloom.gif

Breloom used Spore.

Exeggutor fell asleep!

Exeggutor is fast asleep!

Breloom's Poison Heal restored health!

Breloom restored 12% of its health.

---

Heh heh... sleep mule for the win. I wonder what that Breloom's going to do now...

pidgeot.gif v breloom.gif

Wraith89 switched in Pidgeot (lvl 100 Pidgeot ?).

Breloom used Swords Dance.

Breloom's attack was sharply raised.

Breloom's Poison Heal restored health!

Breloom restored 12% of its health.

---

Breloom happens to be incredibly weak to Fliers, so I bring in Pidgeot. The thing decides to Swords Dance... which is quite scary (it can hit more than Garchomp's + 2 Outrage with Focus Punch on neutral targets) but I know I'm going to incite fear in that, and hopefully, it will switch out.

pidgeot.gif v gyarados.gif

Knucklez switched in Gyarados (lvl 100 Gyarados ?).

Gyarados's intimidate cut Pidgeot's attack!

Pidgeot used Air Slash.

Gyarados lost 30% of its health.

Pidgeot lost 10% of its health.

Gyarados's leftovers restored its health a little!

Gyarados restored 6% of its health.

---

Yep, he switches out. But ewww, Gyarados? That thing's incredibly bulky, there's no way I'm fighting that with Pidgeot... so I make the wise decision of switching out into...

arcanine.gif v snorlax.gif

Knucklez switched in Snorlax (lvl 100 Snorlax ?).

Wraith89 switched in Arcanine (lvl 100 Arcanine ?).

Arcanine's intimidate cut Snorlax's attack!

---

Arcanine! Oh wait... NO! It's weak to Water not strong against it! At least it has Intimidate... but wait, he switches out to Snorlax as well? Heh, this can get interesting.

arcanine.gif v snorlax.gif

Arcanine used Flare Blitz.

Snorlax lost 32% of its health.

Arcanine was hit by recoil!

Arcanine lost 16% of its health.

Arcanine lost 10% of its health.

Snorlax used Body Slam.

A critical hit!

Arcanine lost 74% of its health.

Snorlax's leftovers restored its health a little!

Snorlax restored 6% of its health.

---

Oh right, I forgot about Snorlax's ability Thick Fat, which makes it resistant to Fire and Ice moves. Arcanine's main STAB move just got neutered... with recoil and Life Orb recoil mixed in, that really hurts. Not to mention Snorlax just landed a critical hit Body Slam through that Intimidate. Ouch. I'm surprised Arcanine didn't faint yet (it was really close to it, I'm sure), but I'm thankful it did not parahax.

arcanine.gif v snorlax.gif

Wraith89: haha ouch

Arcanine used Morning Sun.

Arcanine restored 50% of its health.

Snorlax used Curse.

Snorlax's speed was lowered.

Snorlax's attack was raised.

Snorlax's defence was raised.

Snorlax's leftovers restored its health a little!

Snorlax restored 6% of its health.

---

Fortunately, I stuck a recovery move on Arcanine. Yes people, it learns Morning Sun through breeding... in HGSS. Uh oh, Snorlax is Cursing. Fat chance I'm fighting that with Arcanine! Time to switch out.

rhyperior.gif v snorlax.gif

Knucklez: Sorry

Wraith89: told you I had bad luck :P

Wraith89 switched in Rhyperior (lvl 100 Rhyperior ?).

Snorlax used Curse.

Snorlax's speed was lowered.

Snorlax's attack was raised.

Snorlax's defence was raised.

Snorlax's leftovers restored its health a little!

Snorlax restored 6% of its health.

---

And come in Rhyperior, an unnecessary but still very welcome evolution of Rhydon! Rhydon was my counter to Snorlax in Gen II, I may as well try this in Gen IV.

rhyperior.gif v snorlax.gif

Rhyperior used Swords Dance.

Rhyperior's attack was sharply raised.

Snorlax used Body Slam.

It's not very effective...

Rhyperior lost 14% of its health.

Snorlax's leftovers restored its health a little!

Snorlax restored 6% of its health.

---

Swords Dance from Rhyperior can be really scary. Had Snorlax not cursed, Swords Dance Rhyperior can definitely OHKO that fat lug.

rhyperior.gif v snorlax.gif

Rhyperior used Stone Edge.

Snorlax lost 66% of its health.

Rhyperior lost 10% of its health.

Snorlax used Curse.

Snorlax's speed was lowered.

Snorlax's attack was raised.

Snorlax's defence was raised.

Snorlax's leftovers restored its health a little!

Snorlax restored 6% of its health.

---

Stone Edge was risky (I could have Earthquaked for equivalent damage, but in fear of switching I did not)... and hoping it would critical... but it did not. But 66% is still a hefty damage with Life orb. Now imagine this guy in Trick Room... he would wreak havoc (until he misses), no doubt.

rhyperior.gif v snorlax.gif

Rhyperior used Megahorn.

Snorlax lost 43% of its health.

Knucklez's Snorlax fainted.

Rhyperior lost 10% of its health.

---

In case he switches to Azelf... but I guess not. Bye bye Totoro!

5-4

exeggutor.gif v azelf.gif

Knucklez switched in Azelf (lvl 100 Azelf).

Wraith89: btw...

Wraith89: do you recognize this team?

Knucklez: No?

Wraith89 switched in Exeggutor (lvl 100 Exeggutor ?).

Azelf used Grass Knot.

It's not very effective...

Exeggutor lost 33% of its health.

Wraith89's Exeggutor fainted.

Azelf lost 10% of its health.

---

Meh, I may save Rhyperior for later. Death fodder come on out! lol 33% from Grass Knot... that must hurt o_o

4-4

arcanine.gif v gengar.gif

Wraith89: Meh, you should play the game more often

Wraith89: It's Blue's team lol

Wraith89 switched in Arcanine (lvl 100 Arcanine ?).

Arcanine's intimidate cut Azelf's attack!

Knucklez: Haha I stopped playing the game

Wraith89: aww

Knucklez switched in Gengar (lvl 100 Gengar ?).

Arcanine used Extremespeed.

It doesn't affect Gengar...

---

And this time I don't even predict like before and use Extremespeed when I thought he would switch out into a ghost or a rock or steel. Darn it! I'm like an open book :(

arcanine.gif v gengar.gif

Gengar used Substitute.

Gengar lost 25% of its health.

Gengar made a substitute!

Arcanine used Flare Blitz.

A critical hit!

The substitute took damage for Gengar!

Gengar's substitute faded!

Arcanine was hit by recoil!

Arcanine lost 6% of its health.

---

Bah, here we go... but I did not expect Substitute from Gengar. Oh boy, this will be... fun. Time to switch.

pidgeot.gif v gengar.gif

Wraith89 switched in Pidgeot (lvl 100 Pidgeot ?).

Gengar used Substitute.

Gengar lost 25% of its health.

Gengar made a substitute!

---

And here I was hoping Gengar would Shadow Ball, not Substitute. Drats. Oh well, Pidgeot time to set up. Hope that guy doesn't have Thunderbolt. If he does, I have Plan B.

pidgeot.gif v gengar.gif

Gengar used Focus Blast.

Gengar's attack missed!

Pidgeot used Agility.

Pidgeot's speed was sharply raised.

---

Focus Blast, what a gamble. It misses and Pidgeot sets up freely.

pidgeot.gif v gengar.gif

Pidgeot used Air Slash.

The substitute took damage for Gengar!

Gengar's substitute faded!

Gengar used Focus Blast.

Gengar's attack missed!

---

Okay, I was VERY VERY LUCKY. Focus Blast misses yet again while I break his Substitute. Also, there is no Life Orb recoil when one hits a Substitute. Pretty cool.

pidgeot.gif v gyarados.gif

Knucklez switched in Gyarados (lvl 100 Gyarados ?).

Gyarados's intimidate cut Pidgeot's attack!

Pidgeot used Air Slash.

Gyarados lost 27% of its health.

Pidgeot lost 10% of its health.

Gyarados's leftovers restored its health a little!

Gyarados restored 6% of its health.

---

Ugh, he switched out to Gyarados. Whatever, time to spam Air Slashes.

pidgeot.gif v gyarados.gif

Pidgeot used Air Slash.

A critical hit!

Gyarados lost 58% of its health.

Knucklez's Gyarados fainted.

Pidgeot lost 10% of its health.

---

o_o Okay, I did not expect that critical AT all, and it went towards my favor! Why would this happen? Good bye Leviathan :)

4-3

pidgeot.gif v azelf.gif

Wraith89: o_o

Wraith89: ...

Wraith89: darn sorry

Knucklez switched in Azelf (lvl 100 Azelf).

Pidgeot used Air Slash.

Azelf lost 64% of its health.

Pidgeot lost 10% of its health.

Azelf flinched!

---

And I flinch Azelf? Good grief, this is ridiculous... yet satisfying :)

pidgeot.gif v azelf.gif

Knucklez: Its fine

Wraith89: o_o

Wraith89: Pidgeot

Wraith89: You beast! :D

Pidgeot used Air Slash.

Azelf lost 61% of its health.

Knucklez's Azelf fainted.

Pidgeot lost 10% of its health.

---

And down goes the blue elf from Lake Valor!

4-2

pidgeot.gif v breloom.gif

Knucklez switched in Breloom (lvl 100 Breloom ?).

Breloom used Mach Punch.

Pidgeot lost 28% of its health.

Pidgeot used Air Slash.

It's super effective!

Breloom lost 285% of its health.

Knucklez's Breloom fainted.

Pidgeot lost 10% of its health.

---

Breloom attempts to priority attack Pidgeot, but Pidgeot is actually quite bulky, taking 28% from a STAB Mach Punch from Breloom, and hitting back with a 4x LO STAB Air Slash, taking 285%. Ha ha... that's pretty awesome. And Air Slash isn't missing this time!

4-1

pidgeot.gif v gengar.gif

Knucklez switched in Gengar (lvl 100 Gengar ?).

Pidgeot used Air Slash.

Gengar lost 59% of its health.

Knucklez's Gengar fainted.

Wraith89 wins!

I don't believe this! I don't believe this at all! Pidgeot finishes a game once again... but with some aid from Lady Fortuna apparently. But it's quite satisfying to see a Pidgeot sweep, don't you agree?

4-0

Wraith89: :/

Wraith89: Now let me think

Knucklez: Good game!

Wraith89: Good game

Wraith89: I swept with Pidgeot twice today

Wraith89: Wow...

Wraith89: That's kinda funny

FAQs:

1) Is Pidgeot your favorite Pokemon or something?

Not really, but it's certainly not my least favorite either, and it's certainly up there along with some of my other favorites. But I think it's wrong that it evolved twice and has stats lower than the other birds who only evolved once. I play Pidgeot in-game a lot too, despite its weakness.

2) You really rant about Pidgeot? What's so bad about Pidgeot?

3) Like that Luvdisc battle, you won with hax! It's not impressive at all!

I don't know, I rather enjoy seeing weak Pokemon take down the big bad bullies of the standard metagame, whether it happened by hax or not. And I get haxxed quite a lot too... which flusters me sometimes but it's part of the game unfortunately and part of the unpredictability. If you don't find it impressive and like to see pro players, don't look at me. I only play with gimmicks now... but then again, I always did. But they're not cheese gimmicks like Evil Clefairies in Hail or FEAR... they're Pokemon I want to try fighting in standards with. Obviously they cannot do it alone, but it's rather fun. I haven't been on Shoddy for quite a while, in all honesty, let alone battle much, but I'll try to improve myself somehow by adapting to the standards of the current metagame. But you WILL see me use ridiculous Pokemon as always... just don't be surprised.

Also, if you have a favorite Pokemon that "isn't standard" or you wish to see them shine, do not be afraid to use one! In fact, stuff like Seaking can tear Pokemon apart if you play them properly. But as always, make SURE you have the proper support, or it will not work too well. That goes for anything too, even standard Pokes. Notice how MANY of them have 4x weaknesses, such as Gyarados, Tyranitar, Dragonite, Swampert, Gliscor, Heatran, etc... and here is a guy who almost beat Ubers with babies!

4) You copied Blue's team!!!!!!!!!11111oneoneoneexclamationmark!!!

I also did Red's and their manga teams as well. I also made a custom Blue's team (Blue the girl, not the rival Blue, I believe you call her Green here). If you want to try them out, feel free to PM me and I'll send you their Shoddy files.

5) Okay, I'm convinced. Can you show me your Pidgeot's moveset? Smogon doesn't have any special Pidgeot sets.

Pidgeot @ Life Orb

Modest Nature

Tangled Feet

72 HP/252 SpA/4 SpDef/180 Speed

- Agility

- Hidden Power Ground

- Heat Wave

- Air Slash

All right... with modest nature and 252 SpA, you're maxing out Pidgeot's 70 SpA (don't look at me, Pidgeot's 80 Attack isn't much better although it is much stronger overall). If you can't breed for Hidden Power Ground, just do it on Shoddy, or replace it with Roost. With 180 Speed EVs and 31 IVs and neutral speed nature, you're hitting 263 speed, and with Agility, you are hitting 526, enough to outpace Choice Scarf Timid Gengar, which is crucial. You can go ahead and raise it higher to get it outpacing Choice Scarf Azelfs, although I don't know if I ever see those. Just a warning, even with Life Orb and max SpA, Pidgeot's attacks are quite weak, as its STAB move Air Slash is only 75 base power. Hidden Power is to hit Magnezones and Heatrans in case they want to switch in. Heat Wave hits Scizors for massive damage, and I think it can OHKO them... not too sure.

For people just starting with Pidgeot, I'd just try a physical set... it's a lot more effective, has stronger moves like Brave Bird and Return, and even useful ones like U-turn and Quick Attack. Yes, it is outclassed by stuff like Staraptor, but Pidgeot can still hurt too... kind of. In terms of damage, think of it as Marowak with a nerfed Thick Club, because that's what it basically is (or a Marowak with Choice Band)...

Thanks to:

Pidgeot: For pulling some amazing sweeps... I haven't seen you do that at all until now. There's no way I'm underestimating you... ever.

Gyarados: Gyarados always seems to work somehow... one way or another it will take some beatings and deal some great damage the other way as well.

Rhyperior: Rhyperior had some uses on both battles I guess. I don't know.

Machamp: Machamp's confusion helped buy me some time in the first match.

Arcanine: I don't know, but surviving a Flare Blitz recoil, Life Orb recoil, and a STAB Body Slam critical hit from a Snorlax seems rather amazing.

Exeggutor: The Trick Room lead... always has some funny parts in battles, such as being the comedic sleep and KO fodder. Heh heh.

On that first few turns, I did use Focus Blast predicting a Switch. Tyranitar is Switch-in of the Year for Gardevoir, so I almost always launch that first. Afterwords I played pretty badly, lol >.> GG
