OPenworldgamer Posted August 29 Posted August 29 (edited) When I use the gamefreak mew pk1 file the pokemon game version on the mew is set as RB, while the 3ds virtual console games I have mark their native pokemon as RBY for the red/blue game and YW for the yellow game. Is this a problem or will mew simply look like it was “traded” from a different game. Here is the link to the pk1: Edited August 29 by OPenworldgamer adding new data/fixing post mistakes
Kaphotics Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Generation 1 & 2 PKM formats do not store the version they were obtained on. When transferring to Gen 7, they will be assigned a version ID based on the version it was transferred from.

Wait but PKHeX still assigns them a version, I presume that then the game version data is useless until I transfer the pokemon to a newer game and then gets correctly reassigned?

PKHeX doesn't assign them a Version while they exist in Gen 1/2. The hover preview shows the matched encounter data it could have originated from.
theSLAYER Posted August 31 Posted August 31 To rephrase what was said, PKHeX makes an educated “best guess” of the original encounter, and doesn’t actually write anything to file.
