Ackbar223 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 My FireRed and LeafGreen cartridges are reproductions, the FireRed save was corrupted because I tried to migrate Pokemon from it to my original copy of HeartGold and it seems HeartGold broke the save file. LeafGreen was corrupted because I tried to save and the battery died while I was saving the game. If anyone could recover the saves for me or tell me how to do it myself I would greatly appreciate it! Pokemon - Leaf Green Version (Rev 1).sav Pokemon - Fire Red Version (Rev 1).sav
Kaphotics Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Since repro carts are just a single chip that store both the ROM and the Save File together, usually sequentially, you'll have to dump the entire chip not just what a dumper thinks is the save data. The two files you have uploaded are not anything close to valid save data, so nothing can be recovered from those two files. 1
Ackbar223 Posted January 4 Author Posted January 4 (edited) Okay, thanks for the replies. So right now, other than my Gen 3 Pokemon games, I have; a DS lite, an Epilogue GB Operator, PKHex, and Epilogue Playback. Is there any way to dump the whole cartridge data with what I have or maybe another application or two that I can download for free? I was hoping now that I have a GB Operator I could do it with what I have. I'm definitely keeping backups of my save files once I get this sorted out, I didn't have the hardware to connect my cartridges to the PC until recently and both of these save files have been corrupted for a bit. FireRed was corrupted like a year and a half ago, and LeafGreen got corrupted like 2 months ago now. Edit; I do also have an "R4 SDHC Plus" with a memory card that has DS ROMs on it. Ackbar223 Posted Thursday at 05:30 AM Author Posted Thursday at 05:30 AM Okay I finally got enough time to study the page on Extracting and Injecting Save for Bootleg GBA Pokémon Carts enough to feel confident in my ability to safely make a backup of the existing data on the cart. I downloaded gbabf_1.2.7z and Bootleg GBA Save Extractor and Injector.exe, I extracted gbabf_1.2.7z to gbabf.nds and saved in to the memory card in my R4 SDHC Plus. Then I put the cart with the corrupted save into my DS along with the R4 SDHC Plus, upon booting it up and attempting to run gbabf.nds I get a black screen with only the text "Can't open_dsmenu.dat". I think I may have pulled too much off the R4 SDHC Plus memory card, I'm going to put what I assume to be the system files for it back and try it again.
Ackbar223 Posted Thursday at 06:06 AM Author Posted Thursday at 06:06 AM (edited) Okay, putting the system files back on the R4 SDHC Plus seems to have fixed that issue but after creating a backup of my corrupt LeafGreen ROM and following the steps under "Regular steps" I made it to step 9 where the Bootleg GBA Save Extractor and Injector said "Save(s) found: None. No saves found! Pending further use." I even tried the 32 mb ROM backup and still didn't find any saves. Anything I can do from here? I'll upload my save data just in case someone here can figure out what I did wrong. Is there any chance I can salvage my save data? Edit: doing the same for my FireRed cartridge it did find a save, but after extracting it PKHeX says it can't read the file (screenshot below). Attaching the extracted and non-extracted FireRed data too.
