PLAFiles Posted July 9 Posted July 9 (edited) I've been to a few VGC events since 2014. Since at least then, Pokémon that were genned/made or edited in PKHeX have passed legality checks at these events. However, then I see really interesting posts like these by @Kaphotics (see the .gif in the tweet): Or, more-so even, ones that do not show illegal in PKHeX but were genned/modified. Are there game bytes/blocks that show the more non-obvious things or what? Edited July 9 by PLAFiles
SkyLink98 Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Raid RNG correlation is checked automatically by PKHeX since about a year. Some other RNG correlations are not checked by PKHeX (but they can be checked with proper knowledge and/or other tools), due to the amount of time that it would require to calculate, or because it is non-doable (cryptosecure rng). Home data can not be checked by PKHeX since it's serverside. If you want to understand how Home data works, take a read at this article In conclusion, there's some stuff PKHeX does not check. Legality checkers can be improved over time as new researches are done. VGC players should only use legit mons they caught themself. Using PKHeX is still classified as cheating, and they should not rely on it to fake mons.
PLAFiles Posted July 9 Author Posted July 9 Oh wow; so basically, still do everything actually legitimately and not use PKHeX to change anything, based on that link you shared (3rd footnote).

Like, if I had a starter Pokémon as an Egg, modified its stats and all that to be perfect, then hatched it in-game, would it still be 100% legal/legitimate? Since at that point, the Egg is legitimately hatching and getting values from the game itself when hatched.
SkyLink98 Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Legal - yes, depending on the game it hatched on (egg rng correlations can be calculated for some games, but PKHeX does not implement that). Legitimate - no, the only legitimate mons are the ones you caught/obtained with no external tool involved during the process.
