Leaf Green Save Data erased after using GB operator

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone, trying my luck here if anyone smarter than me is able to solve this issue.

I recently bought a GB operator from Epilogue to save and edit my GBA pokemon games.

And it worked fine with my firered and Sapphire cartridges as they were official.

However, I thought my Leaf green cartridge was official and turns out it is classed as "Unrecognized" not exactly a bootleg. Image below.

I have edited my  Leaf Green cartridge on GB operator  and was able to use the upload feature and play with the edited save on my gameboy advance no problem!

However after using PKhex once more, my save file for LG was deleted on my cartridge and I am unable to upload ANY save on my cartridge... AT ALL anymore, everytime I do it freezes and resets the app. And it looks my 34hour save file is done for and can't be recovered on my GBA...

Anyone has a fix for this?

I've attached my pokemon leaf green save if anyone wants to consult it... I've tried contacting Epilogue and they said it might be because my cartridge is fake so there's not much they can do.

Best,

Jude

That's definitely a fake cart, the board doesn't look right, and despite not being able to edit anything, multiple pokemon in the savefile have RNG legality errors (PID mismatch), so the game wasn't running correctly either. (not uncommon for bootleg carts to have glitches that aren't present on real carts, real carts work completely differently)

The good news is the savefile appears intact, the bad news is bootleg carts are extremely hit or miss on whether they can be read/written to by savefile managers, including cart readers.

Your best option is to dump the game ROM and continue playing on emulator, or buy a legitimate FR or LG cart to restore the savefile to.

I think you are doing the procedure to extract the SAV wrong.

I learned today it was actually fake, since it has an SRAM battery and not a Flash battery. On my GB X cart it says it is unable to identify which type of cart it is so I can't rewrite the ROM.  And for some reason my GBA game seems to be corrupted.

The following cartridge configuration was detected:

ROM Title: POKEMON LEAF
Save Type: Unlicensed 512K SRAM (64 KiB)

Flash ID Check:
[   ROM   ] 7F 00 00 EA 24 FF AE 51
[   AAA/AA] 10 00 1C 22 00 00 00 00
[  AAAA/AA] 10 00 1C 22 00 00 00 00
[  4AAA/AA] 10 00 1C 22 00 00 00 00
[  7AAA/AA] 10 00 1C 22 00 00 00 00

Common Flash Interface Data: No data provided

Cartridge Type: Unknown flash cartridge – Please submit the displayed information along with a picture of the cartridge’s circuit board. For ROM writing, you can give the option called “Generic Flash Cartridge (AAA/AA)” a try at your own risk.

FlashGBX v3.36 | GBxCart RW v1.4a/b/c – Firmware R42+L10
