Arceus and Furfrou dropdown menu to change forms not showing in PkHAX.

So, I have HAX mode turned on, which allows you to do all sorts of hacked stuff. However, when I open up my save file for Pokemon Shield, I can't seem to choose the forms of Arceus or Furfrou, and allow me to set the Default forms for those. I know both of those mons aren't available in SWSH (thus, I'm using the HAX mode just for a fun experiment). Is there a way to get the dropdown menu to select the forms I want for these mons, or some sort of workaround? Thanks.

Those forms don't exist in SWSH, thus the menu for them doesn't appear.

If you like, here's some alternatives:
1. Modify the source code of PKHeX, make your own branch.
2. If you don't want to modify the source code, use batch editor to edit the forms of what you're viewing. :3
3. Dragging in one of them in the alt-forms, from lower gen to current gen.

This is all I can think of for now. ><

So, the funny part is, I did use the batch editor technique to edit the forms, it shows up as the alt form on the slot the Pokémon is in. However, when connecting  the game via Pokemon Home (I didn't transfer them or anything),  it shows the Arceus/Furfrou as a normal form. It seems to have reverted back to normal...

I tried dragging the alt-forms from Gen 7 to SWSH. But despite having Hax mode turned on, I still get a message saying the form count is still out of bounds. I click Continue, and then when I hover over them, and click view, It shows them as their normal forms.

did you set the form/changed mon into the game afterwards?

Also, things to take note of (which I'm not certain of):
- anything with invalid alt forms in SWSH (since the form doesn't exist) may get reverted when the game is loaded
- anything with such forms may not show up in HOME when displayed from SWSH. (and you won't be able to transfer them in anyway)

Also, what you're doing may be a ban risk. I'll advise you to stop messing with HOME.

That's.. one I didn't expect. Normally continuing with forms out of bounds is okay. Probably just not viewing-then setting.
immediately drag them into a PC slot and leave them be.

Not 100% sure what you mean by that. By setting the form, you mean using the batch editor ".Form" argument to set the Pokemon to the specific form I want? I did and also the form changed when I used told the batch editor to change the form of that particular Pokémon in that specific location of the my PC box.

Not necessarily. I tried this like a year back, mons like Oricoro work (I'll have to try Oricoro again, since it's been a while), and a couple months ago even Zorua as well, surprisingly. And yeah, I know the risks from HOME well. I'm willing to take them. Thank you for the heads up regardless.  Btw, Oricoro forms also don't have the dropdown menu as well.

However, some forms did not revert back to normal. This seems to be specifically affecting Arceus and Furfrou (from what I have tried), and maybe more mons that have forms unavailable in SWSH.

Soo, that was actually one of the first things I tried a while back. The Arceus and Furfrou forms still revert back to normal regardless. but yeah, viewing and-setting does not work since Pkhex Gen 8 thinks still thinks it's a regular form Arceus/Furfrou despite clicking view on an Alt-Form sprite.

Oh, I think I know the issue, and it really isn't a PKHeX thing, but a HOME thing.

For Arceus:
It never displays any forms when transferred/shown via HOME.
Presumably because previously (a) the forms are item dependent and (b) HOME doesn't retain held items.

This extends to PLA; Arceus form's there isn't item dependent, however, perhaps for compatibility, it reverts back to Normal form.

As for Furfrou:
If I recall correctly, so far only transfers from GO keeps their trims. Any other game reverts them to normal.
So the same setting is theoretically applied to SWSH too.

yeah it stumped me there too. I forgot HOME treats those species like that ><

So, even if I, theoretically, go to the source code, make my own branch, as you said, and bring back the drop-down menu and gen my forms with that, the game will still revert it back to normal?

I guess not. Thank you, regardless.

The game isn't reverting them to normal, it's HOME that is displaying them as normal.

So even if you make your own branch, ultimately you're still messing with the games save.
You can't change how HOME reacts to reading the data in the save :/

Arceus and Furfrou do not exist in SW/SH. Their form count is 1, because the personal data does not have any data for them OR their forms.

PKHeX displays no forms for them in a game they do not exist in, because they do not have forms per their metadata in that game... that they do not exist in.

If you are looking to edit data, edit data where it can exist, and it can be injected.
