Editing citra saves/avoiding errors (im dumb and i need help essentially)

hey! im new to pkhex and emulating stuff as a whole, logn story short my friend helped me set up citra and im trying to edit a pokemon X save file that i have on there, in the citra game list i clicked "open save data location" copied the file directory and pasted it into the "open" button in pkhex to load the file (yes i had the generation setting set to pokemon X), but as you can probably guess it brought up an error, "the attempted to load an unsupported file type/size" error. does anyone know of what i might be doing wrong or a way to get around this? thanks.

You need to save ingame. Don't use save states.

I would also advice you to get to a point where you’ve received the Pokédex, reach a point you can trade, and have accessed the PC in the Pokémon Center.
