Help With PKHex and mGBA

How do i edit my mGBA save file with PKHex? im new to PKHex but cant figure it out.

Properly save in-game twice. Close the emulator

then extract the save from the emulator. 
 

then open PKHeX, import the save.

mGBA usually creates a save file named *ROM NAME*.sav in the same folder of the rom file. You can directly import it to PKHeX

So now that I've edited the .sav and exported the said edit, how do I get MGBA to run the edit? I'm brand new to emulation and really only know how to get it to run the ROM and how to use the fast forward features.

Edit: I just figured out my own problem, I struggled with converting the edit to a sav file. ive done that so i dont need any help anymore.

How did you convert the edit to a SAV file? Also, my mGBA doesn't detect SAV files when loading a ROM, just ZIPs. Do you know how to change that?
