Hello everyone, today I bring you something new to the table. Years ago I wasn't fortunate enough to own every Pokemon game for the Game Boy Advance, it wasn't until years later when I could finally get my hands on more copies of the games, the drawback however is the absurd price tags that many sellers throw these respective titles up for. At one point I looked down at the copies I owned and wondered if I could somehow replicate or utilize dual-slot mode in the game, without having to require these game cartridges. With enough research and some tinkering, I can now happily say that it is now possible to utilize dual-slot mode in Pokemon - Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum Version without requiring the respective Game Boy Advance titles.

Pros:
- Allows the ability to participate in Dual-Slot Mode exclusive Pokemon encounters.
- Able to be switched on the fly without having to reboot the game console.
- Allows the ability to obtain Dual-Slot Mode exclusive items.
- Can be used on any Nintendo DS/3DS system without requiring the Game Boy Advance game cartridges or Slot-2.

Cons:
- Does not enable the ability to migrate Pokemon.

Why doesn't this allow the ability to migrate Pokemon?

Answer:
Well, it should be pretty obvious, but the reason being is because you cannot mimic an entire game cartridge with save data using cheat codes.

Just wanted to say thanks for this!

platinum code works fine. Diamond and Pearl version doesn’t seem to work at all though.

I just tested, they are working as intended for me, the best way to know for certain is to talk to the woman in the Pal Park on the second floor on the right, she gives backdrops depending on the Game Boy Advance title in slot-2. If she gives you stuff then the code is working, as will the encounters, you just have to deal with the scarce encounter chances.

Included variants for HeartGold and SoulSilver. Meant to do this some time ago but forgot. These titles don't have exclusive wild encounters, however you can still get contest related backdrops and accessories from the woman in Pal Park like you could in the previous titles.

UPDATE:

I did more and more research. So it seems like you need the National Dex for the Dual-Slot Encounters in Pokémon Platinum first, which I don't have. I thought you can catch them early since their level is so low.

I'll make another edit if it works, when I am there. I am currently at the beginning at reseting for shiny Rotom, so next update will take a while.

Hi, I know I am very late, but I need help. I love your approach and the idea, behind being able to switch it on the go with the calculator insertion, but I can't get it running.

I am looking for a way to unlock the Dual-Slot encounters in Pokémon Platinum. I made sure that everything is alright.

- You set "Action Replay" as tag, so I assume this code is not emulator specific, so I can use it on my hardware with an original cartridge

- I picked the code for the language version of my game, in this case Germany

I don't have an Action Replay, but I have NitroHax which does work 100%. I've tried this in other games.

So what I do is:

- I boot the game with this AR-code active.

- Open Calculator

- Type '04' into the calculator (I mean the '0' doesn't matter anyway, you can't really type '04')

- I press Start + Select

- I click on "=" in the Calculator. [I hear a sound of a Pokémon shouting(?), whenever I insert any of the numbers for an GBA slot]

But nothing happens. I am on Route 202. "FireRed is selected" and I should encounter Growlithe (8% chance, any time) at some point. But it does not happen and I tied very often.

I've tried to change the order of all these actions, but nothing really helps.

What am I doing wrong and what can I try to fix this? I can't figure this out.

More info:

- The AR-Code is stored in an xml file in one line and space between the addresses, Usually the program reads that right, it works with other codes that have multiple lines. When I try to have the code in lines, which makes no sense in XML, It doesn't change anything.

- I also use PKSM (to unlock events basically), but this shouldn't really affect anything right?

- European Code doesn't work either
