SCV Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Hello all, as you can see we have upgraded the forums to vBulletin 4.0. There were some issues that were preventing us from logging in, and when I fixed that for logging in the true issue remain so if for the las 8 hours you have been logged in but can't post or do anything that was normal. The issue is fixed now so things should function correctly. You may have to delete your cache. If you still have problems please post here and they will be addressed.
Vlad Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Scary, was afraid the site was hacked as projectpokemon.org showed a empty directory.
Sukotto50 Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Glad everything is good. Like the new upgrade. Great job!
Fallen Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 We'll be working on new themes as well since all previous versions are incompatible. I may update some of the themes to work on vB 4.0, but I am not sure yet.
Guardna Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Very cool upgrade. But it must have cost a lot..
Fallen Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Cost a lot? Nope; when you own a vB license you get free upgrades.
CloneCharizard Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 I've already tried to upgrade a 3.8.4 skin to 4.0, but it does not seem to work. This is one of the reasons I dislike 4.0.
randomcouchpotato Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 i finally managed to log on, it took another 14 hours after i cleared my cache to get it to work
Fallen Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 I've already tried to upgrade a 3.8.4 skin to 4.0, but it does not seem to work. This is one of the reasons I dislike 4.0. 4.0 is much more complex and less user friendly.
Mewtwo Ex Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 To tell the truth, the first time i came here after knowing it would be the faithful day(I didn't see it). However going to sleep and coming again and finally seeing it... I quite liked it. But a custom theme for the forum would be nice as well.
Fallen Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 That's where it gets less user friendly, MewtwoEx. Styles are a lot harder to make and customize now. A lot more coding is involved.
wraith89 Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 4.0 is much more complex and less user friendly. So other than difficulty, what else has improved? I see the competition hack is out too.
Mewtwo Ex Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 I would say everything is more visible. Meaning it is supposed to be more easy to access.
randomcouchpotato Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 im still having the occasional log in problem where i have a half log in where it says thanks for logging in (insert username) then i dont get logged in
Poryhack Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 I noticed that the "What's New?"/"New Posts" (they go to the same place) list shows unread posts like it should, but doesn't have the divider to mark your last visit. I frequently used this feature to find what posts were really "new" to me and which ones I simply had not read on my last visit. Obviously I don't read all unread posts every time I logon. Will this be corrected? Am I actually the only person who uses it?
randomcouchpotato Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 (edited) i use it too anyway, i find that i have to check "remember me" to stay logged in there is no filter to filter out recent posts that are yours (ex: if my post is the most recent post and i click on recent posts it wont show my post cuz i posted it) Edited January 4, 2010 by Greencat
Poryhack Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 there is no filter to filter out recent posts that are yours (ex: if my post is the most recent post and i click on recent posts it wont show my post cuz i posted it) I think that's intentional. If you posted it then it's not exactly an "unread post" to you is it?
randomcouchpotato Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 (edited) thats my point. if i posted it then its not a new post so if i check my unread posts it shouldnt show up why does settings go to user cp Edited January 4, 2010 by Greencat
SCV Posted January 3, 2010 Author Posted January 3, 2010 why does settings go to user cp Because that's where you edit the forums setting that apply to you.
Mewtwo Ex Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 I just noticed that posts from one person one after another do not merge like they did with VB 3.8.4 .
Fallen Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 All hacks are obsolete now. We have to wait for, or make our own, new hacks.
randomcouchpotato Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Because that's where you edit the forums setting that apply to you. oh, that makes sense l:c)
Tbird Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 I love it! Sorry not got anything of interest or good contribution to write lol
randomcouchpotato Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 its really confusing to delete attachments, i have it figured out its just confusing
Prox Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 nice job. vbulletin 4.0.0 is mutch better then version 3.X.X
