theSLAYER Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 Our team are able to extract local wonder cards from PCAPs (provided someone is there to capture them). PCAPs can be captured through Wireshark, using a mobile computer to sniff the packets via the local broadcasts. While a proper tutorial is presently not up yet, here's what you can do. Look through the following videos .These videos may come in handy for some people to get a grasp on Wireshark https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yo9nQxxgP_I - Basic - Talks about enabling monitor mode on linux outside of Wireshark - Part of an easy to digest series (6 minute videos) with some content related to capturing packets with Wireshark https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdV6cVVV-jU - More detailed - Goes over monitor mode (what it is and why to use it) - Filtering - Various tips and tricks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltfWjpNcn20 - Very basic - Goes over the different wireless modes (including monitor) - Describes what Beacon Frames are https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6X5TwvGXHP0 - Very basic - High level overview of wireshark - Shows how to setup monitor mode View full tutorial
theSLAYER Posted January 27, 2020 Author Posted January 27, 2020 General steps, under construction. 1. Install Wireshark on your computer. 2. Change your wireless card to Monitor Mode 3. Start up Wireshark 4. Select the applicable MAC adresss (let's say a beacon etc) and Apply as Filter
Izuna Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 Am I understanding this correctly? Is it a way to spoof a network to introduce a claimable wonder card? If no are there any working tutorials on how to extract wc8 files to SwSh? I'm having trouble loading a wc8 file from the events gallery, I'm trying to convert it to a pk file but the wc8 file is not loaded properly, it only shows this: I'm trying to load the Korean Porygon "1023 SWSH - 정상윤 Porygon-Z.wc8" to convert it to a pk file. It's not in the Mystery Gifts database either so I'm stuck on finding a way to get these wc8 pokemons. Any help or clarifications are highly appreciated. Thank you.

You’re not understanding this correctly. This is for how to use data extraction to grab local wonder cards when they’re being shared via local wireless from a distributor. 39 minutes ago, Izuna said: If no are there any working tutorials on how to extract wc8 files to SwSh? 39 minutes ago, Izuna said: I'm having trouble loading a wc8 file from the events gallery, I'm trying to convert it to a pk file but the wc8 file is not loaded properly, it only shows this Why are you trying to load a generation 8 wonder card into a generation 9 default save? There’s no Gen 8 -> Gen 9 transfers yet, so PKHeX won’t allow it. 1

I wasn't trying to load a gen 8 wonder card into a gen 9 default save. I was trying to open the wc8 file directly via PkHex and also tried dragging and dropping the file as the first instruction here: Generation 8 - Project Pokemon Forums Am I correct to assume that currently, the only working method to extract wc8 files is through the second instruction (BCAT Method)? I was wondering why a lot of wc8 pokemons aren't included in the Mystery Gifts database. Edited January 3, 2023 by Izuna

Quote Am I correct to assume that currently, the only working method to extract wc8 files is through the second instruction (BCAT Method) If you just want to grab the Pokémon out of the wonder card, dragging the wonder card into the left side of PKHeX with the correct save loaded works. If you want to redeem the card in-game, gotta use the BCAT method. Quote I was wondering why a lot of wc8 pokemons aren't included in the Mystery Gifts database. Once again, gotta load a Gen 8 save before checking the database. Only then would it show the Mystery Gifts of Gen 8. as I explained, no transfer mechanic, hence it won’t show you Gen 8 gifts stuff in a Gen 9 save. (Your PKHeX loads a blank Gen 9 save by default)

This only applies for cards distributed locally. (as in you have to attend physically, and there's a distribution beacon within the area. Typically shop-wide, or at events, venue/hall wide) As far as I know there's no Gen 9 card distributed locally. Additionally, for non local cards (serial, wireless, etc), you could have just dumped them via JKSM -> BCAT dumping.

Would that be possible with the bcat.file?

I opened up the BCAT file, are the cards located in the double digit folders? and am i correct to say each wonder card number are made up of the folder digit + the file of each card? and lastly why some wonder cards that i have redeemed are not in the BCAT ? i had the pokemon still in my boxes Edited May 14 by KOSpades
Kaphotics Posted May 14 Posted May 14 bcat is just a download of all available gifts that can possibly be redeemed at a given moment in time; some may be obtainable only if you have a valid serial code, or others may be inaccessible until a later reveal. Gifts that expire/ are no longer distributed... are no longer distributed in bcat, and are thus removed from your local storage. Hence why there's the need to archive here to preserve previous content gifts. Since all gifts as of late require a serial code, you have to enter it in and the online server will say "go ahead, load the contents from folder X and give that gift". The server knows the current bcat folder structure, and there's no way to desynchronize it because you have to be synchronized to enter in a serial code.

Just rename those files to wc9 and drag into PKHeX. If they are a Pokémon gift, they’ll load just fine. and as for why some of them aren’t there, not all gifts are permanently in the BCAT. Once the event expires, the team that manages BCAT may choose to remove them. And IIRC your device’s BCAT tends to sync with the server whenever you’re idle in your HOME screen connected to the network, or when you grab a new network gift, so your old archives would have been gone. Anyhow, this won’t work fully for the Switch Gift Data Manager (since it’ll need data from your own BCAT; you can merge the relevant files you want into your BCAT, as per instructions in SGDM), but @CitrusBolt has been dumping them: https://citrusbolt.net/bcat/ Lastly, we have an event repository that has all the events we gathered (all of Gen 9 is there): https://github.com/projectpokemon/EventsGallery And finally finally, this isn’t the right place to have this discussion. Please start your own thread in the Events Help and Questions sub-forum if you need more help.
