wraith89 Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Fun fact: That Gengar is a physical sweeper. It has Shadow Claw and Poison Jab... running off a base 65 attack stat. You know what that means >=D
pokemonfan Posted June 11, 2009 Author Posted June 11, 2009 What about T-bolt and shadow ball? Plus...gengar's if you KO'd it stat give would be 3 towards special attack. Did I miss something? OR are you just playing?
wraith89 Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Read more carefully... it says "THAT Gengar". Fantina's Gengar is a physical Gengar in D/P.
pokemonfan Posted June 11, 2009 Author Posted June 11, 2009 lol to that. Who'd want a physical gengar?
wraith89 Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Ask Champion Steven of Hoenn with his Special Sweeping Aggron... I have NO idea either!
FLOOTENKERP Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 You mean 7th. Volkner is 8th.Yes, Candice was hard too... look earlier in this thread to see the result of what happened. Oops. Then I mean 7. Electric was really easy. I already had my Pokémon at level 70 by then, so he was really easy.
Kaori Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 In Pokémon Platinum, I'd have to articulate on Fantina. She has really enhanced since Diamond and Pearl and I found it a bit harder than usual to beat her.
evandixon Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Before I knew that flying types beat grass types, I thought the second one was, seing that my starter was [sprite]393[/sprite]
FLOOTENKERP Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Hm, I played through my game again, and the 7th gym leader wasn't all that hard. I guess I'd have to say the hardest I've encountered my second time around was Fantina. She gave me a lot of trouble.
wraith89 Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 People all think Fantina is hard, heh heh... ghosts are tricky after all. Anyways, what did you use against Candice? She got pretty tough in Platinum for me. Or it was my bad luck kicking in when Froslass avoided like 8 of my moves thanks to Snow Cloak >.>
FLOOTENKERP Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I used Infernape. He's very useful in game. He owned with fire punch. He burned the entire team.
wraith89 Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Well, that's your answer. Infernape makes the game easier... SO MUCH easier o_O
FLOOTENKERP Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I'm playing it again with Piplup. I'll see which is better for the game myself since I don't have much to do in the game anymore. I wanna see who is harder depending on who you choose.
wraith89 Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 So far, I believe Piplup has it hard. Why? Without TMs, his learnset is horrible X_X Seriously, Bubble? Then it gets a plethora of physical attacks, which isn't his forte. This poor penguin has a hard time in-game.
FLOOTENKERP Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Well it is possible to give it some moves by trading over some TM's. He won't have it that hard if you do that. Maybe give him some good ice moves for dragon types and some water moves for rock. It'll do fine

Maybe give him some good ice moves for dragon types and some water moves for rock. It'll do fine Early game... Metal Claw is bad . Fury Attack won't do much from its pitiful attack score. TM13 (Ice Beam) costs TOO MUCH (10000 coins?!!!). Grass Knot could be useful (and it certainly is), but you only get one so you would want to think carefully on who to use it on (considering Grass Knot is a key move to the metagame). HM03 is a MUST teach on the penguin, but it comes a bit late. Flash Cannon from Byron is also a neat move for in-game purposes... but as you can see, his useful moves are quite limited, while Infernape can have so many (like Stone Edge, Close Combat, Flare Blitz, Flamethrower, Thunderpunch, Grass Knot, Earthquake, etc...)
FLOOTENKERP Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Yeah, I guess so, but you can just EV train it's defenses and it will make an awesome tank. If you ask me, Torterra becomes completely useless when you reach the 7th gym leader. Torterra has it much harder, especially if you're like me who only trains the starter.

Turtwig has an awesome movepool even without breeding. It gets Earthquake, Crunch, Wood Hammer, Leaf Storm... all sorts of awesome moves that I'd rather use. He's not useless...
FLOOTENKERP Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 He is when it comes to the seventh gym leader. He is just dead bate in that part, and if you relied on him the entire game, this part would be a huge problem for you.

Most people have a balanced team by now. I had Gabite, Staraptor, Gardevoir, Roserade, Empoleon and Vaporeon by the time I reached Candice... only Empoleon and Vaporeon survived
FLOOTENKERP Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Exactly, and what I'm doing is only training the starter, and no one else. That's what I'm testing, which starter can do the best on its own. Chim is currently winning. I'll keep you updated on how it goes.

It was DESIGNED to own... and its movepool suggest that as well :-/
FLOOTENKERP Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Lets still give pippy a chance here. His performance might do well, you don't know what the outcome will be. I just wanna see it for my self.
