'invalid save file' problem.. :/ please help.

I know this has been posted as a thread before, but I looked at the solutions and they did not work anyway, whenever I try to load my save file onto the Pokegen generator an 'invalid save file' error comes up on the screen. I'm playing on my computer and it the version is Pokemon Black, if that is needed. I can't attach the file as it won't open because windows needs to know what programme created it. but it is a normal save game file, I haven't messed with it or anything.

What emulator were you using?

Have you tried File ->Export Backup Memory?

When I use the Export backup memory it loads into Pokegen but I can't see my Pokemon in the tabs, but even though I couldn't see them I continued to make a Pokemon (which I did, then i saved what i had made) then went to load the same file into the emulator and it just did nothing, the emulator stayed the exact same and didn't load the file.

You have to import it back into the emulator, but why would you export in the first place, when pokegen supports desmume saves i.e. "[game name].dsv".
