skielbasa Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 All the Pokemon in my part were obtained (and partially trained) legally. I edited their IV, EV, moves, natures, and ability on Chadelure (it had flame body). As far as I can tell things should line up. I regenerated their PID to match their new natures (in both Pokesav and Pokegen, the save file is the results from Pokesav, because that file has the least amount of tampering). For the life of me I can't figure out why they aren't allowed in random battle, but this is the first time doing this so there could be something obvious I'm overlooking.
PopEyeJR Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 (edited) Which Pokemon(s)? Edit 1: I read your post over again and I saw you mentioned Chandelure. So I guess this was the Pokemon you were referring to. I edited the Ability to Flame Body and of course, if you change the Ability you will have a different PID. So I generated a different PID within PokeGen. Chandelure should work in Random Battles now... Edited April 2, 2011 by PopEyeJR
skielbasa Posted April 2, 2011 Author Posted April 2, 2011 It was all of them in my current party, and I had regenerated the PIDs for all of them as I changed their natures too. What did you do to get the new PID, poesav seemed to fail and opening my save in pokegen had a lot of strange things happen like wrong trainer gender and wild caught pokemon showing as coming from an egg. And thanks for fixing chan for me -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums

And thanks for fixing chan for me -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums I'm going to tell you how I fixed Chandelure for you so then you can get the idea of how to fix the rest. The only problems I saw with Chandelure was the PID and it's Location. The PID wasn't matching it's old Ability which was Flash Fire. Flash Fire is Ability 1 and Flame Body is Ability 2. Now, when I changed the Ability from Flash Fire to Flame Body I made sure that the PID Generator's Ability Drop list was set to 2 and that the Gender Drop list was set to Male since... it was a Male. Then just click search and it should show up. Now... just in case you cannot do this right now, I've decided to do it for you. Now, what I have noticed that was wrong...: 1. Volcarona N/A 2. Conkeldurr *The Location is set to Tall grass/Darkrai. 3. Hydreigon *The Location is set to Cave/Hall of Origin/Giratina 4. Chandelure *The Location is Caught in a building 5. Excadrill *The Location is set to Cave/Hall of Origin/Giratina 6. Ferrothorn *The Location is set to Cave/Hall of Origin/Giratina Now, if I am not wrong, the Location for Gen V is Egg/Pal Park/Event... That's about it. Your team should be able to participate in Random Battles.
skielbasa Posted April 2, 2011 Author Posted April 2, 2011 So all gen V pokemon are supposed to be listed as egg/pal park/event regardless, even if it were caught in say tall grass or a cave? I thought that was a mistake when loading my save and changed it to wherever (Cave/Hall of Origin/Giratina becuase it was caught in chargestone etc.) Also, your saying you manually went through and created a new PID rather than leaving it blank and letting Pokegen create one when it saves the file?

Yes. I'm pretty sure that the default is Egg/Pal Park/ Event... regardless. The PID was wrong with in PokeGen. Well... I basically generated it from PokeGen. When you leave the PID blank and save, it generates a different PID from when you generate it right there by yourself. This being said... I guess the PID could be different combinations of numbers. The answer to your second question is no. Edit 1: Deleting '*The PID is wrong' from my older post
skielbasa Posted April 2, 2011 Author Posted April 2, 2011 Alright thanks I'll go through and enter them the right way and change all their locations back to egg/pal park/event. I was following a guide i found here. I was gonna link to it but I can't seem to find it now, which is weird because I think it was stickied lol, but I did find your video guide in the process and I'm gonna give them a watch.
skielbasa Posted April 2, 2011 Author Posted April 2, 2011 That was the one lol. So the recommended way to get a PID (based on your video and what you said here) is the PID finder (f button)?
skielbasa Posted April 2, 2011 Author Posted April 2, 2011 Thanks for dealing with my noobish questions, you've been a big help.
Kaphotics Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Just going to clarify that the 0x85 encounter hex being "Egg/Pal Park/Event" always in gen 5 is due to the value not being used. 0x85 == Egg/Pal Park/Event = 00, which is zero (can also mean unused). If it has Black / White as its Hometown, it is unused, not zero (they are the same thing essentially). I haven't seen anything that proves otherwise. Codr, if thou be lurking, make it that if B/W is the hometown, the Encounter dropdown is set to the Egg/PP/E and is unchangeable (grayed out). <3

skielbasa Posted April 2, 2011 Author Posted April 2, 2011 I just wanted to say that I got them working. Part of the problem was I didn't realize 3 of them had egg moves but looked like they were caught, so I made them hatched, changed their locations back to egg/pal park/event and got new PIDs for everyone but volcarona and they pass the random wifi battle test so I'm happy. Thanks again.
