  1. Of course, without having 2 3DS systems, which should be the best way. I got all my games in digital copies (except for the Gen 4 and 5 games, of course) and would like to know what's the best way of trading with myself in order to evolve Pokémon that evolve only by trade in the least intrusive way (= not heavily editing to evolve them by force, but making them really look as if they were traded). That includes the VC titles.

I'd like to do it not only for evolution purposes, but trading Pokémon as well in games which can't use Pokémon Bank for that, in order to fulfill Pokédexes.

P.S.: I got a R4i GOLD 3DS (RTS) and the updated Luma CFW, in case they can be of any use (and, of course, I got PKHeX).

P.S.2: I don't know if I should have posted this question on Emulation section or any other section, instead. Sorry for anything.

  2. I'd like to avoid the disadvantages of having the games lose their time events every time I have to change the systems to trade. Beside that, my NDS Lite has some problems in the touchscreen, so I have to use the Gen 4 and 5 games on 3DS sometimes.

I know it may not be possible, since both systems may have a slight difference with the clock running, as all clocks in the world, but I had to ask.

  3. I remember that in Generation V, after finishing Pokémon Black, I had the option to transfer some info from its save to Pokémon Black 2, so some stuff on Black 2 could use information from the first Black (the name of my character in Pokémon Black, for example). I don't remember how I transferred such information. Pokémon Global Link registration, I guess.

Since Nintendo shut down Generation VI Global Link, I'd like to know if games from Generation VI had that kind of interaction from Gen V among them as well, so I can know what I missed.

Click on the "Nintendo Homebrew on Discord" link from 3ds.guide. Ask your questions in either Assistance-1 or -2. Someone there should be able to lead you on the path to updating boot9strap(B9S) to v1.3 and Luma 9.x. Normally, updating to the latest Nintendo firmware w/ CFW is safe. If you open system settings from the home screen and the FW version reads "Sys 11.6.0.39U", you're good to go. Just update B9S and Luma.

    Good luck.

    Thank you!

  5. Hello, people. As I said in other threads (like the thread below), I've been away from Pokémon scene for some years. For short, I didn't have a 3DS, but I used to edit my save files for Generation 4 and 5. However, stuff changed a lot. As you can see on the thread pasted below, I got lost in the scene.

You don't need to read it. I'd just like to share (and ask) some stuff I learnt from the New Nintendo 3DS XL I bought (ver. 11.6.0.-39U).

    1. It seems I bought it already with Luma, since when I hold Select, then press the power button, it appears Luma config menu (Luma 3DS 7.1). I didn't know it when I got it. I admit I'm kinda frustrated: not just because my pre-installed games are illicit (but, well, that's not important, since they were installed through legit CIAs, so they got attached to my NNID when I created one; got no problem with Nintendo Network and no problem making purchases), but because I like hacking my own systems.

(The pre-installed games are Pokémon X, Pokémon Y, Pokémon OmegaRuby, Pokémon AlphaSapphire, Pokémon Sun, Pokémon Moon, Pokémon Blue (VC), Pokémon Red (VC), Pokémon Yellow (VC), Super Mario 3D Land, New Super Mario Bros. 2 - Gold Edition, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, Luigi's Mansion - Dark Moon, Mario Kart 7, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Animal Crossing - New Leaf, Yo-kai Watch, Zelda: Majora's Mask, Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Fire Emblem: Awakening. It seems all of them were bundled with some 3DS edition, that's how I found they were legit CIAs).

    2. Since I've been so busy, I've even forgotten what I was trying to ask you on this thread (but thank you guys for the answers):

I got a R4i GOLD 3DS (RTS) on nds-card (with no micro SD, since I already have some) in order to do that thing on https://3ds.guide/get-started. The version of my 3DS firmware is now 11.6.0.-39U. However, I don't know if it is necessary doing anything anymore, since I found that it has already Luma CFW (7.1). If so, what's the start point to do something (I couldn't identify it by reading https://3ds.guide/), since my 3DS is not "virgin" anymore? Should I do something?

(Yeah, that's the disadvantage of having a console hacked for you... you don't know how it happened and how it works. However, I'm not going to risk to do it again if it's not necessary, because, as 3ds.guide says, there's always a risk of bricking it)

    3. People said that through Luma I could play games through 3DS micro SD rather than using a flashcart. My New 3DS came with a 32 GB micro SD, but, because of the amount of games, it still lacks space, so I'd like to keep them on flashcart. However, I'd like to know how to do it through micro SD as well, since it's always up-to-date, as I've been told. (Damn, again, having the console already hacked is frustrating)

But my main question is: my main objective is getting the save files of games (mainly Pokémon, of course), it doesn't matter if it is a digital copy or a physical copy, so I can edit them and put them back, as I used to do with Generation 4 and 5, especially to add events I missed. What should I do? What's the right kernel to download for R4i GOLD 3DS (RTS)? Should I add anything directly to my 3DS micro SD?

Sorry, it seems I'm re-asking a lot of stuff, but the time I've been busy + the fact I've not hacked my own system made me confused.

(This is the exact flashcart I got 26169825_398165283971589_920257529746102)

Frankly, in this generation, Luma CFW is way easier to use, than Flashcarts.
Flashcarts can potentially be blocked by system updates, and if the flashcart developer is slow to update (since some flashcarts are closed sourced),
    you'll be missing out.
(as opposed to Luma 3DS CFW, which is open sourced, so even if the developer drops it, the other contributors/developers can continue in their place)

    Hello again.

Sorry to ressurect this thread, but I have been very busy lately. I've found out a lot of stuff about my New 3DS (ver. 11.6.0.-39U):

  7. I've been reading the 3ds.guide, so since I got a 11.5.0 3DS, I will have to get one of the following flashcarts in order to use CFW without having to get an other 3DS (or soldering my 3DS):

Since my flashcart from NDS Lite is so old that it cannot run even the last DS games, I'd like a new flashcart which could work with it as well.

If it's not possible, please just recommend one of them (and a shop to buy original ones as well, since nds-card often shows "out of stock" for some of their products).

    /:( I know. I just found out.

no search function... *this has been censored by the National Censorship Association for your safety...*

    Anyways, nice site though.

    Wanna make. a GTS thread?

    You,me,Swadly ( @Swadloon ), and @ReignOfComputer (if he can)?

    How does that sound? :D.

It sounds nice. Though, I'm just a newbie at programming/hacking. I don't think I could help with any project at all.

  9. Thank you. I had hope that Pokécheck still existed. It looked wonderful, though most pokémon were hacked. At least, those kinds of websites should have some option to trade pokémon with yourself, so you could evolve pokémon which only evolve by trading, since Pokébank doesn't allow you to do that.

  10. I remember that back in Gen 5 there was a website which worked like a fake GTS, from where you could download pokémon to your saves or upload pokémon from your saves to the website. If I recall correctly, even when Nintendo WFC shut down, you were still able to connect to it and download and upload your pokémon. The questions are:

    1. What website was that?

    2. Does it still exist?

    3. If so, can it do the same thing for later generation games?

  11. Really? Simple like that? I could swear that I would lose features like growing berries, seasons or visitors/stores on Join Avenue. I thought it was the kind of stuff that could only be fixed and recovered by starting a new game and rebuilding my stuff from the beginning.

Thank you. I reckon it would be safe using both systems to transfer pokémon between games without having my saves messed up.

  12. I don't know if I'm posting it on the right section. Fact is: my Nintendo DS Lite is not working so well, so I'd like to play my Pokémon games (those from Gen 4 and 5) using my New N3DS. As you may know, Pokémon games have some kind of anticheating protection which makes you lose a lot of features if you change the time of your DS, which prevents you to change your clocks, what includes changing DS.

I'd like to know if there's any way to manipulate game data so it doesn't "realize" that I started to use a different clock, so I can use other DS (or even the same old DS Lite, but with its time changed, since I'd have changed it to fix it.).

  13. I think I made a terrible mistake: when I started to play Pokémon GO a year ago, I created a new pokemon.com account. I used to use a different account to play Pokémon back in Generation V, when I had access to Dream World through Pokémon Black and Black 2. Since I had no Nintendo 3DS, I didn't use that account until now.

Now I got a Nintendo 3DS with XYORAS, Sun and Moon. I've just found out the login of that old account I used to access Dream World, which was my "official account" until then.

Please, help me. I don't know what to do: should I register my games on my old Dream World account or should I register them on the account I use to play Pokémon GO? Does it make any difference?

With CFW, you're able to install the games straight to your 3DS,
so you'll be playing the game straight from your home menu, as though you purchased the game through e-shop.

Do read about how to prevent bans, as Nintendo bans people's 3DS from going online, if they detect any illegal software being used on it. (like save managers, game installers, etc)
[side track: basically, it appears that when your wireless is on and you're connected to a network, Ninty's server can see and will log what you're playing at that moment.
so make sure you're only playing actual Nintendo released games when you're connected to a network,
and also make sure you installed games that correspond to your region.
<note, some games have differing game IDs for region. Best example is Mario Kart.
Pokemon XYORAS has same game Id across region, so it isn't a problem>
3ds.guide should have a mini-guide on how to prevent bans]

Yup, once you're on CFW, you can update without worries. :)

    Thank you so much again!

For the time being, I have no intention to play not purchased games on 3DS, maybe in the future, if I get a 3DS flashcart. My main concern is getting the usual backup/restore saves and getting event stuff I lost :)

    Hey yuurei/Swadloon, welcome back!

On top, Portal > Guides is where you can find guides.
An example, would be how to backup NDS games saves!

PKHeX supports Gen 1 to 7 hacking! Truly, a marvelous all-in-one tool!

Yup, we have a ton of wonder cards. All you need to do is to be able to access your saves!

If you got a compatible NDS flashcart, you can softmod your 3DS for free to gain access to CFW.
They have their own hacking guide, at https://3ds.guide/

Just properly follow the linked guide, if you're good at following instructions and do everything correctly, shouldn't take more than an hour.

If your 3DS is at the correct firmware, you should be able to use Soundhax.
(or if you have a compatible NDS flashcart, use NTRboothax)

Read through the guide, follow the steps, make sure you understand what you're doing.

You can get started by pressing the button on their site that says Get Started.

Do understand that there is a slight chance of bricking your 3DS, but NTRBoot should be able to fix it.

And I'm sorry for my wall of text lengthy reply (it was kind of necessary)

    Have fun!

Oh, thank you so much! I liked your reply, you don't need to make any apologies, it was very good!

But just to get sure I didn't get it wrong:

    1. So I don't need a flashcart at all?

    2. After doing those changes, will I still be able to update my 3DS, keeping my digital games, playing online and stuff like that?

    Thank you again!

  16. Hello, people. I'm an old user called yuurei. After some years, I'm back. I don't think any of you remember me, since I didn't make any contribution to community because of my lack of knowledge. I used to come here to learn how to make .sav backups and how to get events which had already been finished on Pokémon games for Nintendo DS (Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, HeartGold/SoulSilver, Black/White, Black 2/White 2), by using a single DS, an FTP and a slot 1 flashcard. People here were so kind and helped me (especially evandixon, if I remember well), but the site is completely different now, I can barely recognize it.

Unfortunately, my PC broke, so I lost all my data about how to do it. Things were even worse: since I didn't have any money to buy a Nintendo 3DS, I had to stop playing Pokémon :(

Well, now I got a New Nintendo 3DS XL with the latest update and all the Pokémon games released until now for 3DS (most of them are digital and are updated as well). So I ask you:

    1. Where should I start reading to re-learn how to do the stuff I used to do with the old DS Pokémon games?

    2. The last thing I remember when I visited this website the last time was that people finally managed to hack 3DS Pokémon games. So I ask you:

2.1. Is it possible to make .sav files and get event stuff I lost, as I used to do with DS games?

2.2. If so, do I have to "unblock" my 3DS in order to do that?

2.3. What kind of stuff I need to have to do what I mean to do? For example, I used to use a simple R4 flashcard with a homebrew program whose name I forgot and an FTP. What kinds of 3DS stuff will I need? Do 3DS flashcards even exist? If so and I'll need one, could you recommend any?

Sorry for my ignorance. I would thank you so much if you can help me come back to Pokémon/Nintendo portable gaming scene!
