  1. Kevin, most of your pokemon names sound like mixes of older ones. =|

I don't think the idea of a water/dragon pokemon is good. Or possible. Water/dragon isn't weak to grass.

Also, fire/rock is 4x weak to water. Talk about overpowered for that water starter. You have to consider the water - fire - grass triangle and uphold it.

  2. Firstly, venusaur isn't a good pokemon for OU. Far too many weaknesses in common attacks. Also, sludge bomb is horrible. In UU, its great, but in OU, theres all of two grass types, both of which are dual typed to resist; tons of steels, etc. Run a hidden power. HP Ice usually works good, although that leaves you very open to steels.

Also 200 speed evs on gallade is pointless. I would run 252; however, if you must, run 228 to outspeed +speed heatran.

  3. Actually, with some looking over the pokemon sprites, I would be happy to design movepools for them.

By the way, bob, incase you hadn't noticed, the fact that this game is called POKEMON Amethyst is breaking the copyright law already, and the copyright law isn't stackable. And then you have to realize that if you really don't want to break copyright, you'll have to create all new attack animations for everything. And maps. And trainer sprites. And arenas. Etc. A project like this almost requires breaking the copyright law.

Also, I would suggest creating some new moves. Balanced ones but new moves. Perhaps each of the final evolution starter would get a special move (similar to in frlg). ex:

    Inferno - Fire

    95% Accuracy

    10 PP

    100 power

    25% chance to burn.

    Nature's Wrath - Grass

    80% Accuracy

    10 PP

    120 power

Never misses in Sun, 60% accuracy in Hail

    Torrential Blast - Water

    75% accuracy

    5 PP

    150 power

    No additional effects

Or some other fun stuff like that. I could have a field day creating new pokemon moves. =p

  4. I've seen this before, you told me. But my program doesn't have the liquify tool... And for some reason my internet is really stuffy and can't download so can anyone send me the file, PM me and i'll tell you my e-mail. PM me if you have any program that has the liquify tool thanks. I'll just use the 30 Day Trial version if it's not a free program.

The liquify tool has been common among all photoshop versions. If you are not using photoshop, this tutorial is totally useless to you.

  5. Alright Illithian my friend. I'm going to spend the whole day tomorrow working on a new method for my signatures. Well, almost the whole day. It's time for a new method...I wish you luck on developing your new method!

Thanks and good luck to you aswell =)

  6. Smudge sigs almost always look good. Often, its pretty easy to actually get started with making them. This tutorial is a quick compilation of what I do to create signatures.

    Heres the tutorial:

    Result:

    metagrosstutsig.png

Find your own render, there are plenty. Just look around. In any case, I'd like to make a request. Use this specific format for learning. There are many much better formats that you'll learn over time. My format is outdated, but I don't feel like doing a new tutorial. Still, you I hope you find it useful.

    Thanks!

  7. WHAT? You realize you are absolutely MASSACREING the metagame and extending an invitation to all the non-competitive people who want to use their favorite pokemon in Standard.

Garchomp is massively changing on the metagame by himself, outspeeding an incredible amount of pokemon and offering a massive power source.

Latios will replace every Latias with a larger movepool and more special attack. Latias already is close to Ubers.

Shaymin-S is ridiculously powerful, offering immense coverage and incredible stats just about everywhere.

Manaphy is a Jirachi with Tail Glow. Problem here?

Why did this happen? Why was no one else told?

P.S. No offense Naru-chu, but that sig is way too blurry, the colors are way too bright and it just looks weird.

That style is getting so old.

  8. Include Missingno as a pokemon.

If you're up to it, code him so that depending on what his PID is, he evolves into one of the Kanto starters or less commonly a Mew at level 42.

See, the problem with that idea, is that Missingno. is such a pathetic, overused, overstated internet joke that it would make the game even worse.

Question to the OP, how are you making this game? I don't understand, is it an edit of a 3rd gen game? Editing 4th gen games is virtually impossible, and thats assuming you can model in 3d for the DS to put it into the game...

If you're making this from scratch, no offense, this project is going to dissolve.

  9. The idea itself isn't bad, but I would worry because if they complain about items, its a VERY small step to push Sleep Clause.

In any case, you need to start thinking cheap. Firstly, the classic Dark Void Smeargle will be a massive asset to you. Subseed sets are excellent. Sceptile, Celebi, Shaymin(-s), Breloom, Jumpluff, and more can run extremely manuverable Subseed sets. If you prefer, you can go more rainy, and go with Ludicolo, who is a flawless staller with Subseed capabilities and incredible typing.

Honestly this topic is random babbling about sets. That isn't useful. An idea to start was good, but we need to know the rules of the tournament.

Is it PBR? 6 pokes then pick 4 to battle? 4 pokes flat? 2 pokes? We don't know, that isn't helpful. Once we know that, we can actually focus on who comes out first, what the strategy is, how its executed.

  10. Heya NeoDraven. Boy do we have work to do.

Alakazam: Just for clarification, Focus Blast has a pitiful 70% accuracy and not 80%. Moving on. Alakazam is the most powerful special sweeper in OU. However, as a lead, you are completely wasting his abilities. Alakazam is meant as a lategame sweeper. If he gets one Calm Mind off, he is singularly the most powerful cleanup pokemon available to you in OU, coming alarmingly close to the power available to DD Salamence's Outrage. As a lead, Alakazam is destined for failure. He will be able to kill the lead, but if you choose to CM up the first turn, you will lose Alakazam period. Most leads run a Focus Sash, so they'll explode in your face after you attack them with that CM boosted SE hit. Essentially, you need to move him. As a lead you are totally wasting him.

Weavile: Wait, I'm confused. What exactly do you intend to use Weavile for? Ice Shard is the main reason Weavile does what he does best: revenge kills. A generic Choice Bander he is, but that doesnt stop that Weavile is one of the most powerful revenge killers and by removing Ice Shard you cripple him. I can't fathom why you would use Ice Punch over Ice Shard; quite honestly, Ice Punch will not score more OHKOs then Ice Shard will. Ice Shard will take down any dragon bar Kingdra. Ice Punch will do the same; except Flygons, which are all Scarfed, outspeed and kill you; DD Salamence and Dragonite follow suit. You're creating yourself unnecessary weaknesses.

Infernape: You're right, on a STAB Fire type, Flamethrower can be more useful. Still, on that set, Fire Blast is much more advantageous; without the Nasty Plot boost, Infernape looses out on some massive power and that alone will kill your nape more then anything else.

Gliscor: As a stallbreaker, Gliscor is extremely effective. As smogon puts it, he can take down a stall team almost singlehandedly.

Unfortunately, thats a little outdated. It isn't going to happen as easily anymore. The Gliscor threat is not new to stall teams, and the ubiquitous ice weaknesses that can be found littered through teams make Gliscor a massive target for Ice moves, especially from places where Gliscor expected to wall. Stall teams themselves take great precautions against Gliscor.

Thankfully the stallbreaker Gliscor can still function well against a large amount of setup pokemon. With good typing, Gliscor can safely force out a number of pokemon that can quickly setup for a sweep. However, you'd find Gliscor could function much better with a CB Tyranitar to support him.

Tentacruel: Brutally honest, Tentacruel is useless. Yeah, its nice to wall the special side, but unfortunately, past that, Tentacruel's goodness ends. His dismal defense and mediocre stats make him barely fit for OU; the only reason hes here is because he soaks up Toxic Spikes. And Toxic Spikes are getting less common by the day. More often then not, you'll find Tentacruel being moderately annoying for the other team, but its a complete waste of a slot. Tentacruel isn't doing anything at all to support your team.

Jolteon: Jolteon is a magnet for Electivire, but aside from that, he can work. However, Specs Jolteon serves a similar purpose to Alakazam, so theres a conflict here.

In summary, this team has problems. As a lead, Alakazam is pretty useless, and Jolteon fights for the only position Alakazam can play effectively. Tentacruel is a support pokemon that doesn't do your team a thing. Weavile doesn't do anything at all.

Firstly, you need a new lead. Common leads include Azelf, Empoleon, Metagross, Infernape, Weavile, Bronzong, and Tyranitar. However, a lead set should set up stealth rocks and leave; there are no opportunities in the Platinum metagame to setup stealth rock in the middle, as there were in D/P.

Secondly, you need a T-tar. Preferably a CB Ttar. I would almost suggest replacing Weavile.

Thirdly, every team needs a revenge killer. Weavile can easily take that if you give him Ice Shard. However, Scizor can do a better job with more coverage; scarftran can aswell; as can any scarfed pokemon.

Fourthly, the team itself needs the magic of experience. Play 10 or more matches on TU, or Smogon. Watch the weaknesses of your team. We can rate it, but experience does tons more; it will set in stone what we say and will discern what actually works for you. It will help you see what pokemon are useless. Not only that but it will help you find new strategies, because often people are willing to help you a little after a battle if you ask nicely.

I'm too tired to go over threats. Good luck!

  11. Quite honestly, I think another special attacker is almost required. I can't see Jumpluff doing all that much of anything. Getting rid of Sand is fine, for a long 6 pokemon battle. Wasting a turn setting up Sunny Day can spell the death of someone in doubles regardless what sand did for the opposing team. Since your team is seriously lacking in water/ice moves, I'd reccomend a water type.

I'd start by reccomending the ever useful Suicune, who offers STAB water moves, ice moves, defenses, and more. Then I'd reccomend Empoleon, who can use her above average SpA to deal damage. Finally, Vaporeon, with SpA comparable to Empoleon but much better HP.

Unfortunately all three of those are pitifully slow. =|

  12. *sigh* Naru-chu, that version had a border as well. It was set to Soft Light I believe (as I said in my tut), but it still was a border. And it did show up.

    Capture.png

Anyway, the new sig isn't bad, but its too blurred. The mix of colors look okay but certainly not enough. And theres isn't enough texture; it looks like a mix of color. If you did any liquify effect, it doesn't even show anymore. Also the renders look overly bright. Not nearly as good as your first one. =| 6/10

  13. I'm sorry Inu, its not that I have a problem with you, its that I'm a massive perfectionist and my base instinct is to correct... everything. =|

Probably why I like RMT. And his sig HAS a border. Observe.

    borderproof.png

    See?

    ---

Gallade, simply changing the colors so the whole thing matches isn't a good answer, because it also destroyed the sig. And the original render quality issues still stand, although now they seem even worse.

  14. I really like the new siggy Naru-Chu. I really like the two fonts you picked and the background goes great. Also, the smudging doesn't look over done in this one, it complements it nicely. I give this one a 9/10. Only thing I could see is maybe add a border, but that is just my personal preference.

    His sig has a border.

    Rate my new sig?

    boundariesumbreonsig.png

  15. Did you press L+R? Did you enter the code properly? Is the empoleon properly done? Upload the .pkm file so we can have a look at it.

Stats edit, by the way, will only be selectable on party pokemon. On storage pokemon, don't worry about it.

  16. Inuyouki: It looks pretty good. Its very monochromatic, but it has lots of cool effects. Firstly, the background; I like the mountains and rocks in the background and it does give it a cool texture. I also like the background thing and the cool top and bottom white overlay stuff. Makes it look cool. Unfortunately, the Darkrai just looks messed; it looks totally out of place. Whats with the white edges? The colors fit with the rest of the sig, but its not blended at all, and the white edges really make it worse. If the white wasnt there and it was slightly transparent on the edges it might be better, but its still not very blended. The member's pass looks fine, I guess. The text is okay, but the color is rather bright for the rest of the sig. Overall, I'd give it a 6/10. Not nearly enough blending for my taste.

Still the end effect looks good, I'm just being picky.

  17. In the normal sig, if you look at the renders face, it is a normal, proper, tan-peach ish skin color. In the red color balance, in the areas on the face where the shadows hit it, it looks like a dark yellow, an unnatural (and unappealing) shade of greenish. When you did the color balance effect, you could have brought the original face back.
