The method for accessing PKHaX has changed, now you need to download PKHaX.bat and place it in the same folder as the normal PKHeX.

Mono is for the Mono program loader that can be used on Linux and MacOSX. If you have Windows, the non-Mono build is perfect.

If you weren't planning on playing with it online, you can give any Pokémon any moves and it will work no problems.

If you were to edit the Pokémon using PKHeX/PKSM, the Pokémon will be the exact same so it would be shown as caught and not traded.

(not the community part) PKHex startet by itself while I installed mono, but somehow it was the 17.10.17 version without any new mons, so I closed it again to try to open the mono build. After closing PKHex, Im unable to open it again. Not that I really know to open the exe file with mono anyway. Do I need som other program as well. (I uninstalled Wine, as that was the only existing option to open exe files, hoping that would make a mono alternative appear. No such luck.) 
 

The way I do it is to right click > Mono

Use Mono instead, it has better compatibility and should work out of the box with PKHeX
