  1. Hi,

I can see a few recent posts about a similar issue. Backing up my save file from my Emerald cartridge, with RTC data gives me this message.

File 1 is 1 byte larger with RTC data, and results in this error.

Updated to the most recent build and still have this issue. I'm using the GBXFlash cart from Inside Gadgets to back up my save if that's relevant.

  2. Hi, thought I'd report a bug.

Skitty with Pay Day is showing as illegal from my copy of Pokemon Box. The rest of the Pokemon Box eggs show up fine, just Skitty seems to be flagged as the problem.

Let me know if you need any more information.

Gen 6 and Gen 7 wireless distributions definitely do utilize a 3DS, not a PC. I've seen them with my own eyes.

Just to throw a spanner in works, the VGC Nationals in 2014 in Manchester distributed a Mamoswine that was distributed via a laptop program. I saw the attendant click a program when I asked when it was going to be distributed. It ran twice that day, from 10am-11am and then 3pm-4pm.

I actually have the Wondercard still unclaimed in both X and Y. I don't have a means of extracting them though to determine if there is any difference.

I've researched this about 5 years ago.
If I remember right, the file has the 2003 ネガイボシ Jirachi in it.

I was about to comment this, I forgot who researched it.

If I recall, this Jirachi is identical to the Wishing Star Jirachi event from the 2003 movie. I have a few of these in 3rd Gen files and everything looks identical from what I can see. Might be worth asking @ajxpk just to be 100% sure. It's been a while since I've seen this come up though.

Analyzing the Eggs wonder card, they have chance of being shiny!

That's very cool to hear. Japan always seems to snag these shiny events. Reminds me of the Kyogre/Groudon distributions in Gen V which could be shiny.

I think OP is referring to the overworld effect,
where having Suction Cup Pokemon as lead while fishing increases chances of a Pokemon being hooked.
(not about preventing Roar from working)

In any case, never heard about it not working.

Did you try chain fishing near a corner/limited water area, and what is the max chained hooks?

I've just tried two Sinnoh games, Diamond and Platinum side by side and it's clearly not working. I only had three successful bites out of ten on each game.

This site states it doesn't work in D/P/Pt but there's zero research in to this. I have no idea where to look.

  7. Hi all,

I've been recently informed that Suction Cups does not work in the Sinnoh Region due to a coding error. I can't find any information on whether this is true or not and I'm lost where to look in the data to confirm this or not.

Would anyone mind confirming this? It seems strange and it's honestly the first time I've heard of this.

    Much appreciated

Got home about now. Couldn't remember the name of the tool I used, but that's it. If you wipe the save data, the cartridge will be the same as a new one, so you will be able to get a manaphy after beating the campain again

Didn't realise it was that simple, how awesome. That's handy to know, thank you.

Specifically the one I personally use is 0.3.0.RC1 and never had a problem. You would need to setup a WEP network or use a slot2 compatible device for backup/restore purposes, but if you only want to wipe the savedata I think you'll only need to run the .nds file, select the option and follow instructions.

Oh I already have that set up, does that literally wipe the game data to allow another Manaphy egg to be obtained? :o

If you reset the save using in-game methods, the manaphy flag stays the same. You need to use external tool to completely wipe the save of the cartridge

Just curious, which external tool would you recommend to do this with? I have an R4 cartridge for the DS. If you can't say, please PM.

  11. I'm 99% sure there used to be an AR code which removed the check to allow a Ranger game to distribute more than one Manaphy egg. I've done a quick search and I can't find it, perhaps someone else will be able to. AR codes seem to fall in to obscurity eventually and generally become difficult to find.

How come there's not a genesect cart? Or is there one?

Japanese local events were usually slot two or via infared (same goes Korea). Security is a lot tighter over there too which is why any Japanese event leaks/dumps/ROMs are worth their weight in gold.

All Genesect events outside of Japan were via wifi.

Sounds likely. I remember reading that for Gen 7, Local Wireless is just connecting to the internet somehow. I think that was found out during Worlds last year.

I worked at Event City in Manchester, UK during Worlds 2014 and 2015. We distributed Arash's Mamoswine + Se Jun Park's Pachirusu by literally clicking "Distribute" on a program on a laptop. It was a very boring distribution.

Like I told you before, don't buy them if they don't have the back label. If they don't have it, they may still be real, but there's a much higher chance it's fake.

If they have the backside label, there's a good chance it's real.

I've sold tons of these over the years and I've noted that many European cartridges did not have stickers. This is probably because many events were not store exclusive such as Shelmet/Karrablast and Michina Arceus.

Note, my Shaymin EUR cartridge has no sticker and I "leaked" it out the store I used to work in. ;)

No problem. Unfortunately, I've migrated several thousand Pokemon so I have a little more experience with it than most people. If I'm not mistaken, it's the only way to get Enigma berries in gen 4. Unless a Darkrai event was ever released with it?

The Gen IV Alamas Darkrai cartridge I have distributes the Pokemon with an Enigma Berry.

  16. Hi all,

I'm just looking for some quick information on some questions I have.

I have just backed up my 3rd Gen Emerald .sav to see if any of the eggs I have deposited are shiny.

    1) If there is a shiny Surskit, will Pkhex (or any other editor) show it as shiny before it is hatched in game?

    WiUknPk.png

    2) The Surskit was bred as egg using a PAL English Surskit and a Japanese Ditto from Japanese Emerald. (No Masuda, just needed a different ID). Why is it showing as Japanese even though it was bred on an English Emerald? Will the language change to English once hatched?

    A legit retail copy shiny Mareep caught in the Safari Zone after about 2350 random encounters for reference if needed;

I looked on Smogon at the RNG research to see if there is documentation the mechanics of Gen 5 gifts and shiny locks but didn't find anything.  If anyone has links, I would love to collate that for legality analysis too. :)

It would appear that the HA Pokémon without overworld sprites have the standard xor PID check in place. (Eevee, Deerling as well as Zorua).

The other standard gift Pokemon without overworld sprites such Happiny (egg) and Magikarp do not have this in place.

That's likely because Jellicent isn't a gift; it's found in the wild as an interaction encounter (it seems that common interactable wild creatures aren't shiny locked)
Hidden Grotto Pokemon are shiny locked.

That's good to know. Thank you for your advice, makes a lot of sense.

How is it that GameFreak install shiny locks? Could you explain precisely what a shiny lock does (in terms of numbers/coding etc). If I understand correctly the recent hack on the site meant a lot of posts where lost from before circa 2014 but I'm struggling to find anything.

    Thanks,
