  1. I'm excited to hear about this stuff. The 2002 distribution did not say "rare" for color. A lot of what was shared in the past relied on the website to get stuff right and compliment the trial and error discovery process. https://web.archive.org/web/20021208162610/http://pokemon.com/events/events4.asp "Celebi is back, in both NORMAL and RARE color– but there’s also a chance to catch a NORMAL color Mew" If I remember right, staff said that Mew was super rare and maybe one person got it that they were aware.
  2. This site has some really good pictures - http://pokemoncenternewyork.weebly.com/gaming-distribution-events.html For the visitor, you would put your game (Gold, Silver, or Crystal) into the machine. There was a cartridge slot. You would get a cool video showing what Pokemon you got (or just an egg). From my understanding and memory, the distributions were powered by Gamecubes (specifically development units, they were green when they opened the machines). Changing the distribution involved switching the disc that was in the Gamecube. They would sometimes switch the disc for special circumstances (far out of town visitor wanting Celebi) and sometimes might forget to put the disc into all four units. Another somewhat common occurrence was the machines would accidentally delete the save file. In this case, staff would bribe you with some shiny event Pokemon and additional eggs. Each week a hidden tag was put in your game, so you couldn't repeat an event. There were ways around it. I think I used something called a "Monster Brain" and if the staff forgot to switch all the machines, hopping between the two machines seemed to suffice. When examining Pokemon data, keep in mind some of them have been leveled up and not all of them may have come from the Crystal game, Zubat certainly came from Crystal. The battery on my brother's game failed earlier than the Crystal.
  3. I don't check these threads often - if you have any question email is best - faqmike@yahoo.com - I haven't abandoned Pokemon completely, but my online presence is down. It's been years since these Pokemon, so the memory isn't the best. Zubat was traded from my brother's game. My brother played only on Pokemon Silver. The other Pokemon were hatched in Crystal. The Typhlosion issue is weird and I can't think of an explanation. As a whole the machines were weird. I remember we were expecting Mimic Wobbufett to override Counter because of the four moves Wobbufett knows, Counter was "first" and would be bumped out if it were like an egg move. But in the end, it was actually Safeguard that got tossed. It seems like they would override commands a lot.
  4. Thanks! Well that is just awesome. Mew and Celebi for everyone!
  5. Nosepass/Probopass, the only two Pokemon I will never put on my team.
  6. You can't forget the old PCNY distributions! http://web.archive.org/web/20091026235046/http://www.geocities.com/gold_ursarings_lair/pokemon/pcny.html http://www.oocities.org/gold_ursarings_lair/faqs/pcnydata.txt Feel free to use any info of mine, to improve this great guide.
  7. I wouldn't call something legal if it only happens in theory. Plus you'd need to check on the dates and conditions of the British distribution, to see when it happened, and if it coincides with any other event, making it illegal to have both on one game. Old Sea Map was only distributed in Japan, and has a language lock.
  8. PRA 2004 was the AuroraTicket. It was also distributed at the Pokemon Center New York. PRA 2005 was the MysticTicket. It was also distributed at the Nintendo World Store (following a remodeling from the PCNY store). AuroraTicket wasn't distributed in the US when Emerald was released. The English copies of Pokemon Emerald are identical, so in theory, someone could have done that, if the European mail events dates match. I doubt Nintendo would have paid the bill to ship it to the US.
  9. The store had 4 distribution machines (PCNYa, PCNYb, PCNYc & PCNYd). Whichever you put it in, was what the OT was. Then it added one, so depending how early/late I went in the week (Friday was usually the reset day, I think), determined the ID. In the GBA days events happened so rarely, that there wasn't really a community to it, but in the GBC days, you had a good amount of people going, playing and getting what they could. When the company is more active, the community is better and more supportive!
  10. Nope, not an April Fools... <_< I had been in discussions about doing this before, but couldn't get anyone with the right equipment, so I put out an order from HK and then after a long road, it got in April 1, so I decided against delaying. Besides it's bad luck to fool people after 12! But ShinySephiroth, if my calculations are right, I'm a year younger then you, but I was in High School when these happened, so your claim that you were in Elementary School is problematic.
  11. And I posted the other because I problems opening a .sav except on one particular rom. Hopefully, with Pingouin7's contribution, everyone interested in it, gets things working.

  13. I've attached a save containing my collection of Pokemon Center New York Pokemon, among them Celebi and multiple egg events. The battery on my Crystal Version has lasted long enough for me to be able to do this. I had no issues with opening this file with Visual Boy Advance after downloading the save and the game itself. It should work fine. Feel free to distribute these files as you see fit, so long as the Pokemon aren't edited, any people interested in research may feel free to contact me for further information. I can try to do my best in remembering what I do remember. Celebi (Enough unique Celebi to make a team or two filled with them) Shiny Distributions Meganium Typhlosion Feraligatr Entei Raikou Suicune Lugia Special Moves Ancientpower Bulbasaur Crunch Charmander (Not A Breeding Move Generation II) Zap Cannon Squirtle Double Slap Lickitung Leech Seed Oddish Sweet Kiss Nidoran (M) Flail Zubat Synthesis Paras False Swipe Machop Fury Attack Cubone Flail Seel Faint Attack Kangaskan Sharpern Onix Swords Dance Goldeen Synthesis Tangela Future Sight Lapras Petal Dance Chikorita Double Edge Cyndaquil Submission Totodile Absorb Phanpy Agility Hoppip Mimic Aipom Spikes! Delibird Hypnosis Misdreavous Safeguard Stantler Mega Kick Miltank Ferocious Monsters with Game Breaking Moves Splash Snorlax Splash Sunkern *Nintendo actually selected Splash as a distribution move on several occasions, as if getting a Sunkern wasn't bad enough. If anyone still has a legit Mew, it would be great to distribute, because then we could truly catch all 251 Pokemon forever. CrystalVersionPCNY.zip
