Question about shiny in Pokemon frlg

I have a gba vc leaf green game on my 3ds can I still get shiny like a normal gba game on gba because I heard there is battery inside the game if you have cartridge but because I have a gba vc game how does it work can I still get shinies or is it impossible?

Fire Red and Leaf Green do not have batteries. Only Ruby / Sapphire / Emerald have.

Btw I just got the shiny abra after 3858 abras
