PedroKeitawa Posted Friday at 01:03 PM Posted Friday at 01:03 PM (edited) Ok this is a problem i have multiple time, even with pokemon i hateched WAY before i had access to a modded switch to check this type of stuff. The mon is from an egg, breed in BDSP. No editing done, just pick up the parents a ditto from the gts and go to town. Same thing goes with the mon in the rest of this specific box. But like my past attempt the moment i nickname some of this mon this the trash byte is mark as suspect. In this case the problem is on Hariyama, Empoleon, Staraptor and Bastiodon. But i encounter in the problem in the past with other mon. Is the nickname too short? Becouse is the first time i see this marked as suspect, especialy becouse is not consistent. For exemple the Yanmega also breed in BDSP and nickanamed by the name rater but it dosent have the same error. I read a solution is to nicknamed them back to the species name but...dosent this defeat the purpuse of nicknaming? Is there a solution? EDIT: As i was trying to see if i could understand the problem, using other pokemon, i noticed that this problem seems to have not arise by nicknaming mon from eggs in SWSH, at least for now, no matter how long or short the nickname is. Kaphotics Posted Friday at 04:44 PM Posted Friday at 04:44 PM Going from a long name to a short name would result in leftover text, hence trash bytes. The program is merely saying that the data it expected isn't there. It is "fishy" because it is possible to progressively rename it one character shorter at a time, thus having no trash bytes. But people do not really do that.

So when i check i mon a i hatch from a egg and tell me there is something wrong even with out me editing anything with Pkhex i kinda freak out. For now i change the nickname, via name rater in game (still in bdsp) not via pkhex, and is now longer and obviusly is no longer fishy now.
