Electivire Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 (edited) First Glance: Introduction: Hello, my name is Sondre(HeatVire and Electivire on Shoddy) and this is what I consider to be the best team I've ever made for the DPP OU metagame. This team ended my slump of bad teams that had been plaguing me for about a month. After the summer ended I really couldn't get my shit together and was making what were frankly unoriginal, boring mediocre teams. Then one day I watched Panamaxis from Smogon battling and he was using a combination of the utmost strength that intrigued me. And that's where our story begins... Roserade (M) @ Focus Sash Ability: Natural Cure EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk Timid nature - HP Fire - Toxic Spikes - Sleep Powder - Leaf Storm The strongest of leads! Actually usually only works against slower leads. But Sleep right from the get-go when most teams are pretty ill prepared to let anything go to sleep is always good. Also early Toxic Spikes is very beneficial to my team as it helps me deal with some big threats and help out my main sweeper. Usually I only lay 1 layer down to begin with since I like the immediate 12% damage on things like ttar and infernape. The 2nd layer only comes later if I'm playing full stall. I don't like to let Roserade die early. So it's not a suicide lead per-say. However I don't like to use it lategame since it really is Salamence bait, a Pokemon that when wielded correctly is one of the few deuteronomys who can really give me problems. Latias (F) @ Leftovers Ability: Levitate EVs: 252 HP/252 Spd/4 SAtk Timid nature - Dragon Pulse - Substitute - Recover - Surf An odd set, but it really holds the team together. It provides me with a second fire resist that you'll see later that I lacked for a while and really bit me on the ass whenever Blissey got boomed on. Substitute is great on Latias and if I get into a groove with Latias my opponent can really be in a world of trouble. The speed is really what drew me to using Latias, as having a good revenge answer for Mixmence is something any team needs. Sometimes if I'm feeling randy I'll even try and bait Mence into Fire Blast! Fuck Mence though... Machamp (M) @ Choice Band Ability: Guts EVs: 128 HP/252 Atk /128 Spe Adamant nature - Close Combat - Payback - ThunderPunch - Ice Punch With a Choice Band, Machamp reaches an attack stat of 591. With 120 Base Power a STABbed Choice Band Close Combat will make the hell out of my opponent. It 2HKOes every Pokemon that doesent ressist it. Payback OHKOes Gengar,Rotoms and Cresselia. ThunderPunch is there for Gyarados. Ice Punch make pringles out of Salamence,Flygon,Dragonite and Gliscor. If it get statused, the 1.5x boost from Guts alongside the boost from Choice Band, making Machamp even a bigger beast. All in all, the star of the team. Electivire (M) @ Expert Belt Ability: Motor Drive EVs: 36 Atk/252 SpA/220 Spe Mild nature - Cross Chop - HP Ice - ThunderBolt - Flamethrower Do not come and tell me that electivire sucks. Because this shit has saved me many times. It is absolutely amazing, when Gyara is out, and the opponent will use the electric attack comes this guy in and takes the attack. Motor Drive increases the speed and it is ready and sweep your team. Gyarados (M) @ Salac Berry Ability: Intimidate EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe Adamant nature - Dragon Dance - Bounce - Substitue - Waterfall DD is my basic setup move, and without it the set almost crumbles. Waterfall is my STAB, Substitute on somthing that will give me a free round, and Bounce for Fighting pokes. I ran Salac over Liechi for hunging up with allt the Scarfs around. Is there anything more to write about this thing? You all know how it works. Magnezone (M) @ Choice Scarf Ability: Magnet Pull EVs: 4 HP/252 SpA/252 Spe Timid nature - ThunderBolt - HP Fire - Flash Cannon - Explosion For the record this thing has saved my butt so many times its not even funny. This thing is the worlds best steel killer. I can normally threaten dragons that i have hp ice and scare them away. I only use this guy once its late in the game and i can come in and revenge kill everything with flash cannon or thunderbolt, if he gets low on health i will normally save him for later so he can come in and explode. If mmy opponent threatens me with a possible ground attack i switch in togekiss or salamence then i can either wish with togekiss or i can be OUTRAGEOUS with salamence. That concludes my team, i beilieve that this team works really well and is able to counter nearly everything. But i need you to help me, so please. Dont be afraid of rating! Thank you. Many people has helping me building it also, thank you everyone. Edited December 23, 2009 by Electivire ;)
Electivire Posted December 23, 2009 Author Posted December 23, 2009 Thnx for your rating, really good!
randomspot555 Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Ok, let's break this down. Roserade (M) @ Focus Sash Ability: Natural Cure EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk Timid nature - HP Fire - Toxic Spikes - Sleep Powder - Leaf Storm Roserade is your standard set. Many battlers tend to treat their leads as suicide leads even if they don't follow into the Azelf/Infernape/Weavile/Ambipom/Aerodactyl sets. Metagross usually goes boom, Ninjask is pretty much dead aftr it baton passes, etc... So don't expect this to do much besides the first two turns. Now, why do people use Roserade? Becuase it's so hard to find a decent Toxic Spikes user, and it can sleep it's opponents. Now, this also means you want to use this to your advantage. What else compliments Roserade? STEALTH ROCKS. I can't stress this enough. Last I checked it was literally on 99% of all Shoddy teams. This turns 3hkos into 2HKOS, especially those Pokemon who don't resist common types of attacks like Scizor. Wallbreakers that switch out a lot slowly build up damage to SR (see Dragonite, Zapdos), and it's just good to have. SPIN BLOCKER. You want to keep those spikes and hopefully SR down, you need someone to block Rapid Spin. I hate switching Tyranitar in and out because he racks up 12% damage from rocks (yeah, I know, rock types don't resist rock. Ridiculous). The Rotom forms are all over Shoddy mainly because they're hard, if not near impossible, to use in the actual wi-fi battles. But really, any ghost type will do if it can fit into your team. Scarf Gengar makes an excellent revenge killer, Trick user, and has 3 immunities (2 to a very common attack type). Dusknoir can fit into pressure stall teams. And so on. I've found Mow Rotom to be a great counter to Swampert and it can easily stay in on Scizor's pursuit with Will O Wisp and Reflect while Scizor takes neutral damage from Discharge. Another good addition, but not necessary, is a Roar/Whirlwind user. Zapdos, Swampert, Donphan (meh), Skarmory can all do this to help rack up the damages from spikes/sr. Latias (F) @ Leftovers Ability: Levitate EVs: 252 HP/252 Spd/4 SAtk Timid nature - Dragon Pulse - Substitute - Recover - Surf I have never used Latias, so maybe I just don't know what I'm talking about, but why not through Draco Meteor on instead? It can Recover away the damage from being repeatedly switched out. Machamp (M) @ Choice Band Ability: Guts EVs: 128 HP/252 Atk /128 Spe Adamant nature - Close Combat - Payback - ThunderPunch - Ice Punch See, I just don't think Champ can utilize it without a decent speed stat. That's why it can run a pretty awesome Scarf set. But get this. With giving up 27 base stat attack points, Infernape gets 55 more base stat in speed. It can't take hits like Machamp can, but when you outrun so much, who cares? And those slow bulky waters like Vaporeon and Suicune? Most are 2hkoed by it and with Toxic Spikes and SR support, that's pretty much a guarantee. Infernape @ Choice Band Ability: Blaze EVs: 56 HP/252 Atk/200 Spd Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Close Combat - Stone Edge - U-turn - Fire Punch Some will swear up and down by Flare Blitz, but I just think that shortens Ape's lifespan by too much, especially with sand teams going around. Stone Edge has an okay-ish option with Thunder Punch if you're that worried about Gyarados, but not many Gyarados are gonna come in on Ape. U-Turn is the most awesome move everest due to scouting. You will hit a lot of Latias and Starmie switch ins with this. Electivire (M) @ Expert Belt Ability: Motor Drive EVs: 36 Atk/252 SpA/220 Spe Mild nature - Cross Chop - HP Ice - ThunderBolt - Flamethrower It's a good wall breaker, for certain, but so can Dragonite and many others. I personally don't worry much about Vire's speed boost because I've been running a lot of really slow Pokemon lately anyway. I'm much more worried about hitting Heatran with a Fire type move, which can spell doom even for fire resists. That all being said, you're pretty much Swampert bait if you don't use HP Grass. I still don't understand the attraction of Boune dos, but to each their own. Magnezone is standard and is a great all aroun revenge killer. I'd encourage you not to explode it so you can revenge kill a lot. I think the weak points in this team lie in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. I'll admit Machamp's (and Latias completely) set isn't how I play so maybe that's why. I think Electivire is kind of dragging the team down and not doing anything too special and would be perfect for a Rotom form.
Electivire Posted December 24, 2009 Author Posted December 24, 2009 I have done 3 changes. Set in your infernape, thats an amzing poke. Set in DD Gyara, jolly. EQ.Ice fang and waterfall. and Draco on latias. Thnx man!
Gin Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 If mmy opponent threatens me with a possible ground attack i switch in togekiss or salamence then i can either wish with togekiss or i can be OUTRAGEOUS with salamence. You have neither Salamence nor Togekiss
Skyfire Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 I suggest switching Electivire for Rotom-H... for easy switch into explosions and could counter attack rapid spinners. Higher SpAtk, very bulky and does the same thing as Electivire but better (has access to Overheat).
