Gigantamax Meowth

I know there isn't a legal way to transfer your Pokemon from Gen VII games to Sword/Shield but in the future if I was to transfer a normal Meowth into these games, will I be able to Gigantamax it or can it only be done with the event Meowth that's currently being distributed?

The event Meowth has a bitflag specifically for Gigantamax. So if HOME doesn't add it (let's say by random chance) to any of your existing mons,
then it wont happen.
