SWSH - Dynamax Crystals

When players purchase the Double Pack for Pokémon Sworld & Shield, they will be given 2 codes (1 per game) that gives them an item called the Dynamax Crystal.

The Dynamax Crystal allows players to participate in a Max Raid Battle and encounter either Larvitar or Jangmo-o.

I have the wonder card, but as the card is not injectable (only the records are), you should:

1. Ensure your console attempted to receive wonder cards
2. Inject the items into your bag.

If your never connected to Mystery Gift servers or is banned (so unable to connect), the items won't work.

edit:
Technical details are.. the descriptions (and usage) of the item is added via the part of the Switch console that stores periodic game update data.
In other words, no game update = no Dynamax crystal functionality.

★And15 and ★And458 are for Larvitar and Jangmo-o respectively.
First image shows that I connected to network, so Larvitar crystal has function'
Second image shows that they have yet to add functionality for ★And390, so it's description is ???

Thanks for the info. I will attempt to do the mystery gift function when I renew my online subscription in a couple of days. It was really helpful!

Mystery Gift doesn't even need you to renew online subscription!

The game updates don't require online subscription! Don't wait, redeem Meowth today!

For someone who has never taken their hacked Switch online, is there any safe way to update the necessary game data to use this feature?

I use my hacked Switch online just fine. However there's no way to prevent bans, only reduce the chance.
I don't download custom themes, I don't pirate games for the Switch etc.
