Imagine you want to start a new game but with unusual legal Pokemon,

Well with that list you'll know where to find your Pokemon and export it to your new party,

 

I didn't include eggs (lv1 since gen4) and underleved (there is already a thread for that).

Updated Gen1 and added Gen2 as well. Many great discoveries.

Added Gen5, learned 2 things doing it:

-Ice type are high leveled due to game balancing (Snorunt, Cryogonal, Vanillite, Bergmite, Alolan Vulpix and Sandshrew)

-Some Pokemon are way too rare (Larvesta, Tynamo, Skrelp, Clauncher, Pumpkaboo, Helioptile, Minior, Komala, Turtonator, Drampa).

 

Added Gen6.

And Gen 7.

So actually you cannot begin your journey with: Mewtwo, Regice, Regirock, Registeel, Latios, Latias, Rayquaza, Kyogre, Groudon, Deoxys, Mesprit, Uxie, Azelf, Heatran, Cresselia, Darkrai, Arceus, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, Diancie, Volcanion, Tapu Koko, Tapu Lele, Tapu Bulu, Tapu Fini, Nihilego, Buzzwole, Pheromosa, Xurkitree, Celesteela, Kartana, Guzzlord, Necrozma, Magearna, Marshadow, Poipole, Stakataka, Blacephalon, Zeraora, Type:Null.

You can only begin your journey with eggs for the following : Tynamo, Cryogonal, Larvesta (BW gift), Skrelp, Clauncher, (Dedenne), Pumpkaboo, Bergmite, Sandygast, Minior, Komala, Turtonator(Event Egg), Drampa(Event Egg), Jangmo-o, Alolan Geodude, Phione.
