How are Gen 3 PIDs calculated

I'd really like to gen an Emerald Shiny Mew. How are the PIDs calculated for Gen 3? Is there an option for it in PokeGen? Are there different calculations for different Pokemon and if yes which?

in pokegen just select pid type 1 (A-B-C-D) if yor going for the faraway island one but make sure the origin language is jp because the the old sea map was only released in japan

Are u sure it's method 1? I thought it's method 11 cause Event... Or does that only count for Events you directly obtain from the PokePostman?

pretty much anything caught ingame is method 1.
