XY Event - GameStop Diancie

So little is known about this event (and due to the fact that it was only in a private press release), it seems to have not been posted here yet. Diancie will be distributed at GameStop stores in the United States in the fall. It could be serial codes, but it sounds like local wireless to me. This is from the July 9 press release from The Pokémon Company (the rest of the press release is about Super-Secret Bases).

More Information on Mega Diancie Revealed!

When Diancie Mega Evolves into Mega Diancie, it will get the Magic Bounce Ability, which makes any status condition or stat-lowering effect bounce back at the Pokémon trying to inflict it. Through Mega Evolution, Mega Diancie receives a big boost to its Speed, as well as boosts to its Attack and Sp. Atk, while experiencing a reduction in its Defense and Sp. Def. The boosts help Mega Diancie with its quick, powerful attacks, such as Diamond Storm and Moonblast.

Players can get Diancie for Pokémon X or Pokémon Y via a character distribution at participating GameStop stores in the United States this fall. Further details will be shared soon. Players who receive Diancie can Mega Evolve it in Pokémon Omega Ruby or Pokémon Alpha Sapphire.

The GameStop Promos rarely have anything to do with the movies (although they are usually the ones distributing the movie promos when they come to the US.)

They usually coincide with something to spur orders or sale Pokemon games. This Diancie is more than likely going to be used to drive pre-order sales of the new games since Mega Diancie is one of the big points being made in the promo vids/ads as of late.
