modder
Hello there, I have two questions here about the "read-only-memory" of the cartridge and I will really appreciate any help. 1. Is it possible to somehow RE-FORMAT the ROM(read-only) session of the retail cartridge (either through a software way or a hardware way with extra tool) and then inject my hacked rom in it? (I am talking about DS cartridge here) 2. Apparently I found a website stating that they allow you to choose games and they will create "bootleg" DS cartridges for you. Is there anywhere that allow you to give them a hacked rom and possibly a custom sticker image and they will make the corresponding cartridge for you? evandixon
1. No, Read Only Memory is read only and cannot be changed. 2. It is illegal to share ROMs, edited or not. Even if the service exists, it would be easier to buy a flash cart. I recommend the Supercard DSTWO, but some R4 clones running Wood R4 are also good. Andibad
1. No. because game card is have write protector so is not possible to rewrite/write data on it. But some reason ROM can be change if device is allow it or used a hardware set-up. another example is 3DS Game card Type 2, is have specific writeable offset/region. I already have flashcards including DSTWO(and that's how I dumpped the game in order to start hacking), but what I want is something looks like a real game because I am kind of a perfectism. Playing via a flashcard and playing via a cartridge might not be a difference to most of people but not me. Eitherway, it seems that this topic involves legal issue, so I decide to not ask about this any more and moderators/admins can feel free to close this thread.
