Maizen Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Hello! I recently acquired pokegen and am having a lot of fun with it! I have, though, encountered something confusing. What do I put for the trainer ID and secret ID if I'm creating a Pokemon found in a previous generation/version? For example, I'd like to create an Articuno as caught from Soulsilver for my Black 2 game. What do I put for the name, trainer ID, and Secret ID? If I put my Black 2 information in those slots, I'm guessing it will recognize the Articuno as caught by me--a trainer in Black 2 (which obviously can't happen in Black 2). Is there some ID and secret ID generator I can use? Thank you!
Kaphotics Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Your mind can generate 2 random numbers between 0 and 65535. They don't have to be anything special; the game just grabs 2 pseudorandom numbers at the start of the game.
Maizen Posted October 5, 2013 Author Posted October 5, 2013 I have tried picking random numbers, but pokecheck keeps telling me my IDs are "illegal."
Kaphotics Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 They are still completely legal for in-game play; there's no ingame impact. Pokecheck does its job on finding hacks!
jariesuicune Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Actually, you CAN use your Black 2 OT/ID/SID. In theory, those numbers can occur on more than one system. I use my data from a past game for all my Genned Pokemon, regardless of which generation it's for, unless I have a special reason. PokeCheck is only any purpose if you care about using them in official situations (Random Match or tournaments).
