Aj3537 Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Ok, have just learned that there is a way to backup my pokemon games. So I'm very new and everything explained in toddler terms. I have a DS lite. Games: R/S/E FR/LG PLAT/DIA W/B W2/B2 My goals: Import some pokemon without losing them from the current game. Give (trade) pokemon to my sister while still keeping them for myself. I have heard that DSTWO flashcard is the best but haven't purchased one yet. And instructions on how to use this to backup games. I've tried to understand some of the posts and information here and it's over my head. Please help. What do I need to purchase and how exactly do I use it.
evandixon Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?16601-NDS-How-to-Backup-Restore-your-retail-cartridge-save-file-for-DS-games The DSTWO is the best flashcart out there, but can only be used to get DS saves if you're on a DS lite (or original DS) and have WEP WiFi. You don't need Wifi to get the save from GBA games if you have a DS lite or original DS. http://filetrip.net/nds-downloads/applications/download-gba-backup-tool-021-f3228.html And I don't know of a way to get the saves from GB/GBC games, sorry.
Aj3537 Posted August 1, 2013 Author Posted August 1, 2013 I've read both of those links and they don't make any sense to me. What is home brew? What is EZ flash 3 in 1? GB has wifi? What is action replay? How exactly do you use a DSTWO? The extent of my knowledge is putting the game in the slot, turn on GB, and playing the game.
evandixon Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Homebrew is a program for the DS made by people on the internet. You need a flash cart to use it. Flashcarts run homebrew on the console. Most also run copies of retail games, called ROMs. The EZ flash 3in1 basically lets you run GBA games from a flash cart that goes into the DS slot of a DS lite (or original). Homebrew apps can also use it for transferring save files. The DS lite and all Pokemon games before Black and White don't support WPA WiFi, the most common and secure kind. They only support the insecure and outdated WEP protocol. The game boy does not have Wifi, but the DS does. The Action Replay is a cheat device for DS games (there are versions for other systems too) that let you do things like walk through walls, have infinite health, etc. as well as receive custom item sets or Pokemon if you make codes for it with Pokegen. Should be pretty strait forward. To use a DSTWO, put the firmware and whatever homebrew and games you want on a MicroSD, put it in the DSTWO, put that in your DS, launch it like any other game, then use the menu to select whichever game/homebrew you want to run.
Aj3537 Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 Ok, I'm at a complete loss. This is what I bought to work on my sister's and my GB. R4i 3ds from dscart.com 16 GBA Sandisk Ultra micro I followed this tutorial with the only difference being I called the new folder Apps and copied the GBA backup tool nds file into it. I insert the r4i and turn on the GB. I selected slot 1 and the screen goes black and nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?
