Help with Pokemon Heart Gold!!!

Whenever I try to fly in kanto, it just shows the kanto map and I can't scroll around.

The farthest away I can fly to is Mt. Silver, and the connecting route does not show up either.

I used the Ds version and I have not played it in a while

Any help?

You need to go to Vermillion or Saffron city to use the boat or subway.

that's how the games work. you can only fly in the region you're in. fly to mt silver to switch. possibly somewhere else too, but i know mt. silver works. that's how the original games worked too. they kept that "feature".

Route 26 and Indigo Plateau both work too.
