RPenry09 Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 Way back in the old days of the first gen of pokemon, I had a jolteon and it could kill anything in 1 hit using thunderbolt even rock types using quick attack! I'm think i have read that IV and DV were added in the 2nd gen of pokemon, so what was right with this jolteon any ideas?
randomspot555 Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 IVs, or their predecessor, DVs, have been around since Gen I. The reason Jolteon could do that is because...well, you were probably only going up against the AI, and the AI in Pokemon games doesn't get really smart until Gen III. And even then, it's pretty easy to outthink them.
RPenry09 Posted December 26, 2010 Author Posted December 26, 2010 Na, i went up agianst a friend that was older than me and hopefuly smarter and the jolteon was so fast that he couldnt get a hit off, he even tryed a red with the glitch were the levels went past 100!
randomspot555 Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 Glitch Pokemon aren't exactly known for their offensive or defensive powers. And Jolteon has always been one of the fastest Pokemon. Speaking of fast, critical hits were determined by the speed stat. Pokemon was a much more rock-paper-scissors type game where you could easily predict what would happen in Gen I/II. So Jolteon had a very high chance of critical hitting with moves such as Body Slam and Thunderbolt.
RPenry09 Posted December 26, 2010 Author Posted December 26, 2010 Now what are critical hits based off of? Random numbers?
