In Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald, the player gets to choose between the Claw Fossil and Root Fossil during the game's narrative Route 111RS/Mirage TowerE.
In Pokémon Emerald, the player is able to obtain the Fossil that wasn't chosen in the post game.
The player may then choose to bring the fossil to the Devon Corporation at Rustboro City.
