Nuclear weapons should be a crime. The US has more than anyone else though. Imo that looks too much like Espeon I like its arrangement currently: its movepool is the problem... and speed of course. At this point though, it's probably more efficient to be special, but it looks boring :3

Inspirational. I love our last king of Britain. Very underrated and we never hear about him, just about Winston Churchill, his prime minister during WWII. Shame... this man gave his all to stabilise the monarchy when it was about to stumble, even though he never wanted to be king, especially when he was shy and did not think he could hold a whole empire in his hands...

How Would You Improve Some Pokemon (Competitively)?

Just letting you know: [sprite]262[/sprite] Mightyena stats: 70/90/70/60/60/70 [hgsssprite]168[/hgsssprite] Ariados stats: 70/90/70/60/60/40 Look at that: the only difference between the two is speed. I think both of them need an evolution or something. I want a Spider-Man coloured spider so I could nickname him Spider-Man after my favourite superhero Ariados needs a better Bug STAB attack than Bug Bite. It has Shadow Sneak and Sucker Punch... maybe it can get a Bug priority move also. However, it has its own niche and worked pretty well in Ubers as an anti-lead vs. Deoxys and Darkrai. Other than that, it is one of those Bug Pokemon meant to be at the bottom of the food chain unfortunately. But that does not explain why they created Galvantula > Now forget Ariados.. what about its counterpart Ledian? Mightyena, on the other hand... come on, are they serious? Some ferocious thing based off a wolf, or a hyena, or a jackal, or whatever, happened to have very underwhelming stats, a limited movepool (not even access to Pursuit), and overall not very competitively viable. They tried by adding elemental fangs in, but then again, a lot of things with teeth has access to that as well. It is a lot like Liepard: early game Dark Pokemon with very little potential. But at least Liepard has Prankster from Dream World and some support moves; Mightyena has nothing to show off. Just evolve the thing already There are other things that are not as powerful as they look, such as Onix or Tropius. Mind telling me how this giant rock snake has less HP and Attack than a Spearow? And what about Delcatty? You evolve this cat with a Moon Stone to turn out into this very middling Pokemon with incredibly low stats. Sure it has a great movepool but so do every other normals out there. I don't know what to say anymore. Hitmonchan, also, has no real specialisation, as Hitmonlee is better than it in every ways but defence, but Hitmonchan's defence is a lost cause because it is not all that great. Besides, Hitmontop has better defences AND Intimidate. Hitmonchan's Pokedex says how fast it is, but Hitmonlee is faster? Even worse is when it was first released until Gen III... it could not use its signature Elemental Punches properly due to that 35 special attack! Once the attack split came in Gen IV... the other fighters were able to do more damage... and then some, since they could all do the same thing Hitmonchan could do. Forgot to add that Hitmonchan is the only Hitmon that cannot Sucker Punch. How ironic. I know Sucker Punch is not a real punch, and Hitmonchan plays honourably, but still... that's very awkward. Too many Pokemon... with competitive flaws... I know Pokemon were not all made equally, and I like it that way. But some were just unfair. Really unfair.

Ice is a scary offensive typing, of course you have a lot of reasons to fear them. Ice, Fighting, Ground... at least the latter two has some types immune to them: Ice does not.

PO tiers are messed up... I frankly have no idea what they do there with ratings. I guess you can go to Smogon server or something. I have no idea.

To be fair, though, Grass/Ice/Water weaknesses CAN be circumvented with Umbreon and Cofagrigus being quite defensive... but don't overly depend on it.

Yeah I figured you liked Cofagrigus: he was your first avvy here iirc. Just use what you want really. Build a team around Rampardos that supports it.

Each to his own. I'm a nostalgia person so I tend to like nearly every Gen I and II monsters. And I have fun with turtles. Then there's that jerk of a Blastoise which I used to surprise everyone: Choice Specs with Water Spout version: OHKOd Scizor and a bunch of other stuff that didn't expect that to happen :3

Venusaur... I don't get him. I really don't. He's slower and weaker than Sceptile, and yet he pulls Swords Dance set more efficiently than Sceptile? It's a real mystery... and it bothers me. I swept a bunch of times with SD Venusaur in Gen IV... before it had Chlorophyll... not kidding.

Rats, you don't like Blastoise? Ah well... he was my starter of choice (first Pokemon ever in Gen I games) so like... yeah I cannot help but think of him. Yeah, sue me <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/sad.png" alt=":(" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/sad@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Hey, I did once pull a Sub Anger Point Tauros... that was fun, considering how many times the opponent always seems to hit a critical on me.

Cofagrigus is the bane of many Pokemon, especially fighters and Heracross and stuff. They hate losing Guts to Mummy and burn will therefore be too effective of a crippling status to them. Machamp loses No Guard, Payback barely does anything as Cofagrigus is naturally slow: he's a great foil to many. It's quite annoying to face him as well.

Might as well play OU then... but you don't need to use 6 OU Pokemon: I find many UU and below Pokemon work really well in OU if used in a team rather than a team of 6 OUs, which is just boring.

Get Ice Beam as a filler for Claydol, I guess, as it rounds up great coverage alongside Earth Power. Alternatively, there's STAB Psychic.

Really now... Tauros is quite bulky with Intimidate, and strong as a bull (I thought the last part was obvious).

You could opt for Blastoise as your spinner or something. But every time SilentFox kept critical hitting that guy, it took like 60% damage from Hydro Pump from Empoleon. But it is still quite the bulky monster. I wonder if Fire-Water-Grass core works just as well in Gen V's UU as it did in Gen IV...

Nice comic... but rather melodramatic, don't you think?

Gen 5 OU Rain Team

Regardless of speed, Tentacruel can find an opportunity to set up Toxic Spikes if it either forces a switch or walls the other Pokemon, like a Choice Banded Scizor. It has 236 Speed when uninvested, which is pretty good and only requires a minimal investment in speed if it wants to beat Jolly Tyranitar (32 EVs), but I think in this gen it would really appreciate the bulk. I'm really tired of things hitting too hard, even when resisted. Some Special Defence might be good, I believe, but Tentacruel's Special Defence hits 286 when uninvested, and that is still quite impressive. But if one wants speed, go ahead, but I think it is a lost cause on something that needs bulk, and has only 100 base speed, which would mean if it maxes it, it would tie with things like Salamence and Volcarona at best. Positive speed + 176 EVs outpaces positive natured base 90 speeders like Lucario, Positive speed + 216 EVs outpaces positive base 95ers like Gliscor. Gliscor is a key opponent most people want to outpace, BUT most Gliscors these days do not invest much speed and focus on their defence instead unless it is a straight out offensive Gliscor. Oh yes, and Multiscale is not useless on Life Orb Dragonite, only because the initial hit that could be from a faster opponent may be a lethal Stone Edge, or worse, Ice Beam, so it is not that bad of a choice, unless one needs to set up and feels like that Togekiss's Air Slash is going to flinch. I used to run Superpower on that Dragonite to hurt Blissey and Snorlax hard, but it did not always work without proper support, and it made me forgo Multiscale due to its incompatibility. But that is always an option, and Inner Focus is not bad either.

The gameplay is rather very repetitive and can drain once in a while, but the storyline kept me interested. #2 had the better storyline in my opinion, but #1 was also good. I wrote a review about Mystery Dungeon 2... that is, if you want to read it. I got attached to a lot of Pokemon I used to overlook often.

Gen 5 OU Rain Team

This was long time ago when Gen V came out the first time... hence the Japanese names and the non-viewable Pokemon in the replays. Most of the Pokemon that was sent out against Dragonite was slow... it was Eelektross, Gigalith, and Carracosta So back then, I custom tailored my stormy weather Dragonite and it looked like this: [hgsssprite]149[/hgsssprite] Josun (Dragonite) (F) @ Life Orb Trait: Multiscale EVs: 72 Atk / 240 SAtk / 196 Spd Rash Nature (+SAtk, -SDef) - Dragon Dance - Hurricane - Thunder - Outrage Speed hits 245 speed, to outpace 244ers who want to outpace max speed Tyranitar. After a single Dragon Dance, Dragonite OHKOs bulky Zapdos with Outrage after Stealth Rocks damage (which is why I put the Attack EVs like that), because that thing would wall Hurricane and Thunder otherwise (particularly the Lightningrod versions). The rest of the EVs went to Special Attack. I guess max SpA and Speed would be more conventional, but mine had that purpose of not being walled by Zapdos. Note that it wears off much too quickly, so Roost can be placed wherever wanted, and water moves like Surf is always welcome. Then there's also Draco Meteor or Dragon Pulse as alternatives, and you can move the Attack to SpA if no physical moves are ever used. This was just how I played though since I hate being walled. Do people really run Aqua Jet on Dragonite? That is interesting... Now I will dig up my old Tentacruel... [hgsssprite]073[/hgsssprite] Kraken (Tentacruel) (F) @ Black Sludge Trait: Rain Dish EVs: 120 HP / 136 Def / 16 SAtk / 60 SDef / 176 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Rapid Spin - Toxic Spikes - Hex - Scald Wait, forget my Tentacruel EV layout, as I have no idea why I made it that way and I forgot the actual reasoning for this layout... so I need to update that, as this was the first time I was using it when PO first implemented Gen V. For now, maybe it should look more like: 252 HP / 120 Def / 136 SpDef Calm That allows Tentacruel to survive 2 Close Combats from Infernape... though this was 4th Gen standard. 5th gen is much more offensive, and Smogon seems to say: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Speed Bold I find the 16 speed odd, as that hits 240 speed, which is not outpacing anything notable but neutral base 70 max speeders. It's still slower than Jolly Tyranitar, so watch out. The defence seems to imply the Fighters of this gen are hitting much too hard, specifically Conkeldurr and the likes. So actually, let's make a new set: [sprite]073[/sprite] Kraken (Tentacruel) (F) @ Black Sludge Trait: Rain Dish / Liquid Ooze EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spd Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Rapid Spin - Toxic Spikes / Toxic - Protect / Giga Drain / Ice Beam / Sludge Bomb - Scald You see, I had Hex because Ghosts always switched in to block Rapid Spin, and they were at a high chance of being status'd by the likes of Scald or Toxic Spikes, hence making Hex into a 200 base power attack to fight against them. That was my logic then, but I don't know how well that worked then. Anyways, Tentacruel is part Poison, allowing Black Sludge to be of great asset for recovery and messing up Tricksters. Scald for the burn rate + STAB is always useful, and what would Tentacruel be without Rapid Spin and the awfully useful Toxic Spikes? Protect is beautiful for allowing an extra turn of recovery and stalling, but remember it can also turn against you if the foe likes to set up. There are other options for that slot with Protect: feel free to choose one. Giga Drain steals HP, Ice Beam eats a lot of other Pokemon weak to Ice, and Sludge Bomb is a more powerful STAB option, but it does not provide much coverage. You can also opt for Liquid Ooze as your ability, as it trolls on Ferrothorn's Leech Seed and Conkeldurr's Drain Punch. Rain Dish is more consistent, however, on your rain team. Remember this is a utility Pokemon: it was not really meant to be an offensive one in your team (that is if you choose to use Tentacruel)... you can always just base the team on helping Cloyster sweep foes

You know... it is funny because some of your Pokemon appear as main characters of the spin-off series Mystery Dungeon. Gengar is an antagonist in Mystery Dungeon Red/Blue as the leader of Team Meanies (which, by its name, are a bunch of bullies consisting of Gengar, Medicham, and Ekans). Grovyle is one of the important characters of Mystery Dungeon 2, and he is pretty cool too.

Gen 5 OU Rain Team

I am probably not in any authority to say anything, since I have not battled in a long time. I do not even believe I have touched PO in... almost one year! I have used Cloyster a lot as my utility spinner, but the problem with Cloyster is its awful Special defence, which is easily exploited by many spinblockers such as Gengar or Jellicent. At least Cloyster is able to defeat most spinners one on one though... and differentiates from some by being able to lay down Spikes and Toxic Spikes... well, asides from Forretress. Seeing as you have Ferrothorn with entry hazards, I do not believe Spikes are necessary anyways. However, most people expect the scary sweeper Cloyster instead so most would not be too hasty in bringing in a frail spinblocker or the likes. I would suggest Tentacruel with Rain Dish if you needed a bulky utility spinner, as it has access to Toxic Spikes, can spin, has incredible Special Defence, base 100 speed, great typing that allows it to absorb Toxic Spikes just by switching in, benefits from rain by recovering every turn, and actually has Scald to help its physical defence. That is... if you want to... Cloyster is still a fine choice. Another problem we have is Gliscor with the usual 252 Atk/252 Speed spread. You say you have not used it to its fullest... maybe because it was more meant to fulfill a support role of some kind rather than a standalone sweeper. That's usually fine on a Swords Dance set upper, but Gliscor is known for its bulk, and I believe Gliscor would appreciate its EVs placed in its defences since it can already raise its attack with Swords Dance and the likes. A quick glance at Smogon shows an Impish build with 252 HP / 184 Def / 72 Spe EVs, but I don't know why that is the case. 72 speed does hit 244 speed on neutral, but I would aim higher because everything tries to outpace 244. Maybe around 247ish or something. If you want to keep that moveset though, you may, as I am not sure what else it should be doing at this point. You can consider Taunt if Stall completely ruins you: Taunt allows Gliscor to be a stallbreaker of some kind. I will have to look at this team more to even rate it: with Tbird missing in action this is difficult If you don't mind... I am adding pictures on original post to make it easier for me to tell what is on your team. I need visuals! Your team looks good in the long run though. How has battles been? Just something off-topic: Have you tried Volcarona in the rain? It is really weird, and yet it works because Volcarona is able to learn Hurricane and still does decent damage with Fire Blast, despite the rain. I have only seen it once, though, and it was not mine. But I am thinking it can be quite an asset. I have had a lot of success with Dragonite in the rain, with its scary STAB Hurricane and a complementary Thunder to go alongside it. It is a shame they banned Swift Swim alongside Drizzle, or else I would have suggested Kingdra, Kabutops, Omastar or Ludicolo and the rest. Rain is incredibly broken though, so I am not surprised.

Let me rethink this because I keep forgetting what your team is and I have to keep looking back and forth. Is Xatu able to learn Whirlwind btw? It has Thunder Wave also. I almost suggested Gyarados until I realised he is OU. He has Thunder Wave, Dragon Tail, and Roar at his disposal. Ooops... and he does not run an entry hazard. Woe is I; my mind is not in the clear.

Wait a minute... Sceptile has higher attack than Venusaur... so why not SD? <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/unsure.png" alt=":/" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/unsure@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

You can try to replace Eelektross with a Roar/Dragon Tail/Stealth Rocks/Toxic Spikes Nidoqueen :L

Sorry, I find these sets hilarious, but I troll like this a lot. I've ran this set, believe it or not, and... it works because almost nobody runs Taunt and Substitute on the same set!

It is unfortunate though about Sceptile because when I think of Leaf Blade, I think of Sceptile. It seems the only way one would run physical moves is if it was mixed alongside some special attack. I was also thinking of a Life Orb version with Leaf Storm and 3 physical attacks. The problem is that base 85 attack power will only go so far. Only reason Swampert gets away with using 85 base special attack is because it uses decently powered special attacks with great coverage like Ice Beam or has STAB like Surf or Earth Power.

My Sceptile is not too good but I'd like to explain it because you're probably super confused right now.

A caveat for my Sceptile: it's just too overspecialised. But you can manipulate the foe's movements and Sceptile will work like a charm. If pulled correctly, it will have a +2/+1/+2 stats in Attack/SpA/Speed. Anyhow... Absorb Bulb raises user's special attack if hit by water moves. Water move is so common so I used that instead of the Electric counterpart, even though Sceptile resists both. This triggers Unburden, which doubles Sceptile's speed, and will proceed to outspeed everything. By default, it outpaces + 100s by sitting pretty at 330 speed.

Problem is... SCALD is the most popular water move, which means Sceptile CAN sustain a burn. Also, Waters MIGHT carry Ice Beam, which hurts any chance of setting up SD if they were supposed to switch. But once set up, Volcarona has got nothing on this. Giga Drain replenishes lost HP. Acrobatics hurts a lot, especially at + 4.
